When I change the index of this drop down list, the post back happens, but MyDDL_IndexChanged is never called.
We are developing our application on a 64 bit server. We are using a dropdownlist to filter and display departments in a htmltable(hide and show rows) on every selectedindexchanged event.
The issue is it is firing properly for the first time, but it is not doing a post back there after. We have even given autopostback=true. We are using AJAX for hiding and showing the rows of the htmltable.

Based on the gridview row selected i need to populate some dropdownlist which change values based on selection.. And i am populating these dropdownlists at page load..
When i select a row in gridview I want the dropdownlist to show the values in the gridview row which i have selected.. I am doing it like this:

The scenario is i have a dropdown list bearing a collection of items (say ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR, FIVE) with the default value selected as 'ONE'. Now, when the client changes the index (say the client selects 'TWO'), a confirmation box is prompted asking 'Are you sure want to change the index?' with the buttons YES & NO. Now, the problem is, if YES button is clicked then its working fine as the index is changed. But when NO button is clicked in the confirmation box, I do not want the index to be changed to 'TWO' and it should be holding the previously selected value which was 'ONE'. How can I do this? For which event should I write the code, as I cant think of writing the code for the IndexChanged event because here the index change has already occured and since there is no 'IndexChanging' event in ASP.NET, where shall i write the code

For instance, clicking employer in the treeview and clicking the employer link in the gridview take you to the same page. All I want is when I click the employer link in the gridview, I want the gridview row command event to call the selectednodechanged event of the treeview, so that the treenode for employer has the selected node style and performs the function of hte selectednodechanged. i have tried treeview.nodes[0].select but this does not fire the selectednodechanged event.

I have a panel which has a repeater within it. Within the repeater I have a few controls. One of those controls is a Drop Down list which has an OnSelectedIndexChanged event. I can get this to fire without issue but I cannot find my DropDownList control within that repeater within the SelectedIndexChanged event . The repeater has an OnItemDataBound event and I can use the RepeaterItemEventArgs to find the control using e.Item.FindControl("ControlName") without issue but when that event occurs is NOT when I need to find the DropDownList.
What I want to do is have another control's Visible property be set to "true" when the value of the DropDownList meets a certain value. As far as I know I can only do this during the SelectedIndexChanged event and I can't change the signature of the event by trying to use RepeaterItemEventArgs.

View 5 RepliesI have an asp.net page with a list box on it. Multiple event handlers subscribe to its OnSelectedIndexChanged event.
When I change the SelectedIndex programmatically none of the events get fired.
Now a hack for this is to call each event handler, but this has already caused bugs since people didn't know they had to do this when adding a new event handler.
I can do this in a Winforms app and even when SelectedIndex is changed in code the events fire.
I did my drop down list that get it,s values from database and when run the application it did not work and compiler did not see the code

I have a dropdown list that is populated by a dataset (Data being extracted from DB). Based on the selection made by the user I call OnSelectedIndexChanged, and populated the form with the relevent info. The problem I am having is the first item in the list is selected by default, so if the user selects this option OnSelectedIndexChanged does not fire. To work around this I add a default item to the dropdown list after populating it with the dataset as shown here;

A little confused on something. I have a User Control in a master page. In the User Control there are image buttons. when I try to wire any click event even to say update a label in the User Control itself, nothing gets updated.
It is as if the postback is not handled at all.
What I want to do is click the image button in the User Control and then change a value in the master page. This could happen a few ways but for example it could update a public property or a control itself like a textbox or label.
Here is my situation: I have a overview of subscriptions that look simple:
Active (bool), ID (int), StartDate (datetime) and MaxUsers (int).
I've put this in a Gridview and it renders nicely.
Now everything is simply in ItemTemplates and are formatted.
Now a new feature: In the Gridview active should be a checkbox and when clicked on it, it should (de)activate the subscription. Or simply said, Active status is updated. Now me being a simpleton thinks:

and the cs:
[Code]....
But! the event doesnt get fired. Now I've searched with google and also through this forum and every time I get the answer: autopostback on true or use commandname. Now for this little feature I think the commandname use in combi with rowbound is overkill for such a little thing.
Now I hope I'm just missing something because this would be really nasty and stupid to make it so complicated. I like the autopostback and oncheckchanged combination because it logical, but why doesnt it work?
