Data Controls :: How To Implement JQuery AutoComplete Inside GridView
Feb 11, 2014
I am using j-query auto complete plugin in textbox that is inside gridview. The autocomplete only works when my gridview has more than 1 row, if my gridview has only one row then the autocomplete will not work. I am using the same code i downloaded from this website. Here is my code for the gridview:
<asp:GridView ID="GV_Test" runat="server" Width="870px"
AutoGenerateColumns="False" Font-Names="Arial" Font-Size="11pt" AlternatingRowStyle-BackColor="#C2D69B"
HeaderStyle-BackColor="green" ShowFooter="True"
[Code] ....
And here is my code for the javascript:
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function () {
Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManager.getInstance().add_endRequest(EndRequestHandler);
Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManager.getInstance().beginAsyncPostBack();
function EndRequestHandler(sender, args) {
[Code] ....

I'm using jQuery AutoComplete Plugin in ASP.Net as outlined in the article below, so that as a user types in a .Net textbox they get a list of options to choose them. This works fine, but what I need to do now is call a server side function when the user has finished typing or has choosen a value, rather than the user having to submit the value by pressing a button.

I made a usercontrol consisting of an AJAX tab control, a textbox, and a gridview. The gridview is pulling data from a SQL database. When the gridview is outside of the tab control and I begin to enter text into the textbox, quicksearch begins to filter the information in the gridview. When i put the gridview and textbox inside an AJAX tab control quicksearch does not work. How do i need to structure the textbox and the gridview on an ajax update panel to get it to work?

I have two nested DropDownLists (the value selected in the 1st ddl will limit the content of the 2nd ddl).
The example attached here runs fine outside of a GridView. As soon as I try to insert this into a GridView, I get an error because I cannot identify the ControlID to use in the ControlParameter.
The code outside of the GridView looks like this:
<asp:DropDownList ID="ACTION1_DROPDOWNLIST"
AutoPostBack="true" ToolTip="Dropdown List" runat="server" CssClass="Select"
DataSourceID="SqlDataSource1" DataTextField="Description" DataValueField="ID" >

Click Me in a UserControl. I downloaded the sample attached there and its working fine but i am trying to create UserControl out of it. No rows are getting loaded on scrolling down. I modified the code to look like this..
var lastProductId = $("#<%=Test1.GridView1.ClientID %> tr:last").children("td:first").html();
//get last table row in order to append the new products
var lastRow = $("#<%=Test1.GridView1.ClientID %> tr:last");
AND,
function GetRowsCount() {
//Count no. of rows except header row in the grid.
var rowCount = $('#<%=Test1.GridView1.ClientID %> tr').length - 1;
return rowCount;
Its giving me error: The name 'Test1' does not exist in the current context. Test1 is the Id of my USerControl. Test1 is the ID of UserControl. I found your tutorial on similar issue but i did not use it because i am not using stored procedure and i know nothing about XML. At this point i just want to make the sample attached in that article(one i provided) to work as a UserControl.

I have a text box called "Address". I have a fairly large database with containing a table with columns: streetnumber, streetname, predirection, streettype, postdirection. I understand how to use the AJAX AutoCompleteExtender. County, City, State,Zip, Country do not apply to this search.
So I am looking for a good reference or some thoughts on working the back-end portion of this search. I guess some test cases might be a good start:
Valid Input:Orange 12 Orange 12 Orange Ave 12 N Orange Ave 12 N Orange Ave E 12 North Orange Ave East 12 NE Orange Ave 12 NE Orange Ave E South 12 South 12 South St 12 S South Street 12 South South Street South
My thoughts:It seems like the hardest part is going to be parsing the input text into corresponding streetname, pre/post directions, etc. I could just create a regular expression to parse this, but I am worried if that would be too restrive for this search IE:
Search: "12 South" --> "12 South Street" AND "12 South Orange Ave" AND "12 South South Street"
Could I could take advantage of full-text search and just send in the entire input string and see what comes out?
