Feb 18, 2011I have created a class file which gets me the state codes,license numbers and the expiration dates for the same.
I fetch the expiration dates in string format.
Each customer can have many licenses.
I have changed the format of the date (initially appearing as YYYY/MM/DD 00:00:00 when retrieved from database) to MM/DD/YYYY.
After retrieving all the licenses pertaining to a single customer, I bind them to a datalist.
Now the requirement is that for each customer, I need to sort the licenses according to the latest expiration date and then display the same.
How can this be achieved ?

Jan 11, 2011I have created a search page for web application that will allow a user to search the database based upon employee name or supervisor name. It is a multiple table database that is linked together by an unique employee number column, primary key in people and foreign key in supervisor. I have a parent/ child datalist used to display the record. When searching by the employee name it will return the record correctly if there is a record found. However, if I search by supervisor name and there is no match for the supervisor name, it will return all the records and create the parent datalist with all the employee details there, but the child datalist with the supervisor information is not display as there is no record with that supervisor name.

Jan 30, 2010I have a webform that functions as a kind of a timesheet. The way it works now is that a user selects a project from a dropdownlist, the enters a date and the amount of hours worked. After that the user selects the link button "register" and the worked hours are registered and the result will be shown in a datalist (for each project a new one). Is there some possible way to show a user in advance all the projects he is authorized for in a datalist or so, so he can fill out the hours for all the projects at once? Now the selection for a project from the dropdownlist is a problem for some users cause they have a lot if projects and it is quit a workload on the manor now.

Forms Data Controls :: Gridview Sort Expression - How To Reset A Gridview Or Prevent It From Doing A Sort
Sep 23, 2010Just spent about 8 hours googling and looking through this forum for a solution on how to make sure that I can dynamically sort. Here is the situation.
I have 1 Gridview that displays 10 different scenarios based on what button is clicked.
I am also returning only top 10 records. I am doing all of the data binding pragmatically. So I have BoundFields, HyperLinkFields etc.
I also want to sort some records. When I change DataSource SQL statement the gridview somehow remembers what the last sort value was and it errors out saying that value "x" cannot be sorted because it does not exists.
I tried this:
Tried setting gridview1.sqldatasourceid = null; gridview1.allowsorting = false; gridview1.databind();
Here I get an error that says that the data source does not support sorting? Doesnt it say gridview1.allowsorting = false;
I also tried gridview1.sort("", SortDirection.Ascending); This does nothin... except query my database one more time because i have a onSorting event that looks like this:
