Data Controls :: Strip (Cut Short) Long Texts In GridView Column Fields
Nov 22, 2013
I have used datagridview to display certain data to users...
It works f9 but what I am concerned with is that there are a few columns having large text...n the text moves to the next line...i want that after a fixed length of letters it should display "......"
In one grid there is only one column and entries are 100+, all entries are hyperlink entries, but the gridview does not look nice with one column and 100+entries, is there any way I can split that entries in 3-4 coluns to look even.
I've been using the LongURL.org API for expanding short URLs. The great thing about this service is that it returns a long URL, the title of the actual page and meta-info.The real problem I have is that it seems to take an inordinate amount of time to fetch the data. I'm considering shifting the request to JavaScript so that the URL is fetched via an AJAX update panel, in order that the page loads quickly, and the URL data is updated while the user looks at the content (some search results).Does anyone know how else I could gather the info described above, n a better time-frame? I'm using C# ASP.NET but would consider solutions in other languages.
I have a web page with an object data source that is connect to an object access layer which retrirevs an Id, Name_En and Name_Local from some table, the object data source is connected to a GirdView, In the girdview i have a template control with a label inside it, i want to change the binding expression for the label depending on the current states of localization so for example if the page is arabic the label should bind to "Name_Local", if it's english then it should bind to "Name_En"
I have a gridview with textbox and that textbox is for searching. My question is do you know how to search with all fields in gridview. For example: I have a gridview contains, FIRST NAME, MIDDLE NAME, and LAST NAME, and if I type in the textbox the gridview will automatically get what I've inout in textbox.
I have a GridView, and I want Column1 to be equal to datatable data (filled by a SqlDataAdapter). Then I have two other fields by the SqlDataAdapter (first name, last name), and I want to have those two fields combined to form Column2. I have a TemplateField for my GridView that combines the first name and last name with Eval()'s, but the GridView places this combined field TemplateField and puts it as the first column.
How can I do this so that TemplateField can go in between fields that are databound?
I'm looking for the best way (Performance) to do gridview columns formating RunTime /Dynamic depending on the datatable Columns type ,I want to bind the datatable to a gridview and format the Date columns to short date, and currency columns formatted with comma ex 10,000.00 inplace 100000.00 at datatable the column type is double run time (without converting them to String) since I do a filtering and sorting at these columns.
I have a GridView with a SQLDatasource. All of the columns in the gridview are bound to a field. Now they want a column that is not a field returned but would be two of the fields combined together. How can I do this exactly? Can someone show a line of code to display this in a column?
I have a gridview that displays data from a DB... Currently I can only change colors of all the texts in a cell, but what I need to do is to change the color of certain texts only. Is there a way to do this?
This is my function for changing color of texts in cells:
protected void GridView1_RowDataBound(object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e) { if (_SearchKey != string.Empty) { if (e.Row.RowType == DataControlRowType.DataRow) { for (int ctr = 0; ctr < e.Row.Cells.Count; ctr++) { if (e.Row.Cells[ctr].Text.ToLower().Contains(_SearchKey.ToLower())) { e.Row.Cells[ctr].ForeColor = System.Drawing.Color.Red; } } } } }
I want to display gridview column heading when mouse over to the particular column in the gridview.I am working in VisualStudio 2005 with MS.Net2.0 framework.I don't want to use ajax.
I am using a Gridview on a webform. Got the editing/updating all working correctly. Problem is, all the data is on one row and it is alot of data. I thought about splitting the data into 2 gridviews but then all of the employee data isn't lumped together like the higher ups want.
I have done research on a DataRepeater as it will give me the formatting I need it but it doesnt support editing.
In my website, there is a page called "SMS Log"It contains a GridView, in which there are 5 columns:
1) SMS sent time 2) SMS Text 3) Recipients 4) status 5) Button (view detail) since, "SMS Text" is large and "Recipients" are more than 1.
So Gridview looks very conjusted, also it does not look good.Is there any other control I can use other than Gridview to show above 5 columns in a well organized way.
I have a gridview which is binded to a Sqldatasource. I would like to replace a column data field value to 'Not Applicable' if that column has got a value of 2 in database.
