Forms Data Controls :: Passing Populated Search Values In A Gridview To Another Page Using Querystring Or Sessions

Nov 8, 2010

We do have a search page for customers which returns a list of data from a table.

Once we select on an item it should redirect to another page with customerId as a querystring parameter..

Now the problem is we have to save all the customerIds and need to send them to display page..and need to select next one once they done with previous one without going to the search page again..

Example:

if they got 10 customers in the search page then we need to send all 10 ids to display page by starting display of firstone and once they select next button on display page they have to move on to the next cutomer from that list..if they reached the end of list they have to start again from the first...we need to avoid the user going to the search page for each customer every time...

Data Controls :: Create Dynamic Filter On GridView To Search Multiple Columns

May 7, 2015

I've created a filter textbox for searching my data in gridview..

ex: i've 3 columns in gridview : ID, NAME, DATE

I ask, how to create a dynamic search for 3 columns in gridview using a textbox?

without writing a query repeatedly :(ID like '%" + search + "%') OR  (NAME like '%" + search + "%') OR  (DATE like '%" + search + "%')

protected void btnCariConnStrSubmit_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) {
string search = ((TextBox)GridView1.HeaderRow.FindControl("txtCariConnStr")).Text;
string sql = "select * from report where (ID like '%" + search + "%') OR (NAME like '%" + search + "%') OR (DATE like '%" + search + "%') ";
reader = mda.GetData(sql, connStr).CreateDataReader();
if (reader.Read()) { dt = mda.GetData(sql, connStr).Tables[0]; BindGridView(dt); lblRecordNotFound.Visible = false; }
else { Bindemptydt(); lblRecordNotFound.Visible = true; }
((TextBox)GridView1.HeaderRow.FindControl("txtCariConnStr")).Text = search;

DataSource Controls :: Filter Parameters/Search Form

Oct 10, 2010

I've got a gridview that I need to perform filters on. All works great until I try and add a date range..

Below is the code. Basically I have 5 dropdown lists which all filter as expected giving them the option to use each one or just the ones they need.

The problem is they want to also have the option of filtering by date i.e date range or greater than or less than or equal to etc..

As soon as I add the date parameter it stops the other filters working. I'm guessing because I have a null value in the date field (textbox) if they dont use the option??

Does anyone have a sample on how to filter by dropdown lists and dates keeping in mind they wont use all the filter options?

Forms Data Controls :: Gridview Filter Code Not Working?

I am using a dropdownlist to select the filter value only and then a button to execute the filter. If I use "accessdatasource.filterexpression = " type of statement the filtering works but it cancels when you go to the next page on the gridview. So, I have tried the following code. But it does not work.

Forms Data Controls :: Filter Gridview With Multiple Words From Textbox

May 27, 2010

I have been stuck on an issue that is driving me mad and I bet its simple. I have a Textbox with a gridview and a LINQ statement in code behind that populates the data source of the gridview at page load.

The Textbox is used as a filter for the where clause in the Linq statement. All works as expected however I want to be able to use more than one word as a filter. This is the problem. I take the textbox string and convert to an array

Dim aryTextFile() As String = SearchString.Split(",")

But I need to figure how to pass the values of the array as parameters for the Linq Statement. I need to return all rows that have either a match for LocationName AND/OR Address AND/OR City. I thought of something like this but it fails.

Dim db As New DCLocationsDataContext
Dim q = From t In db.Locations _
Where t.City AndAlso t.LocationName AndAlso t.Address Like aryTextFile _
Select t
GridView1.DataSource = q
GridView1.DataBind()

DataSource Controls :: Gridview Populated By ObjectDatasource Which Is Calling A DAL/BLL?

Jun 7, 2010

I have a gridview being populated by an ObjectDataSource (ODS). The ODS is calling a BLL to get information from a database table. The information returned is all determined by a participantID. This works fine normally.

The issue is that I'm getting an exception thrown when the participantID isn't listed in the database table; which is possible until their information is inserted and updated on this database table. The information is entered when someone visits a webpage, their information and date/time stamp is inserted/updated to this table, but not until then.

Do I edit my ODS or the BLL to check for a null return and handle this exception? How would I do this as well?

Forms Data Controls :: Filtering A Gridview Using A Textbox And A Search Button?

Apr 12, 2010

I have a gridview that holds a bunch of companies (600 of them). I have a textbox under the gridview so people could type in a partial name of the company and basically do a search on the gridview. My problem is that when I run the page the only thing that shows is my search textbox, I'm assuming this is because I have setup the SQLDataSource to filter based on this textbox. I'd like the grid to be filled when the user opens the page and only filtered when the user type something in the textbox and hits go. Does anyone have an example of that in VB that I could look at?
