how to suppress the "AM" in the gridview (template Bind("RideTimeMin", "{0:t}")? Don't tell me to use military time because the function is not "time on a clock"; it's how much time is allowed for a task (in this case the min/max hours & minutes that horses have to complete a 20 mile trail; e.g. 05:00, 05:27, etc). The problem I have with this is that the DataSource get instantiated several times since it is used in page, control... What I want is to have NInject to handle the instantiation of the DataSource so this doesn't happen. I have got that part to sort of work, but when the DataSource is defined in the code-behind instead of in the markup the Page property is not set on the DataSource, does anyone know why? A simple solution to this is to set the the Page property in a base class or something, but I do think that the property should be there and want to know why.

View 3 RepliesI have an application that is developed using VB.Net that is saving data in SQL Server 2008. in this application i have to save a big amount of data in one button click. When i say big i mean around 21000 record in one table. this is taking a lot of time since I'm calling the "Insert" procedure around 21000 time from my application. What i want to do is to find a way to put my data in a kind of container then let VS or SQL 2008 manage the saving. I'm thinking of putting the data in a dataset.
Is this the best solution, or is there any other way to reduce the saving time of the 21000 records?
I need to insert large amount of data into SqlServer 2008. My project is based on linq-to-sql.
I process csv file with 100.000 rows. Each row is mapped to Order object. Order contains also collection of Category and Code objects. I need to map each row to object in order to validate it.
Then I need to insert all these objects into database.

Both ways are slow. Is there any workaround? I may use other approach than l2sql for this task.

I've seen a "System.Threading.ThreadAbortException: Thread was being aborted" message in one of my logs where the thread was killed. I am currently under the assumption that the thread will run as long as it takes to execute the tasks that it's working on, however after googling the exeception I've seen several posts making mention of increasing the ExecutionTimeOut property of the application in the web.config file. My question is: What is the maximum execution time of a thread executed in ASP.NET? Is this timeout unlimited or still bound by the ExecutionTimeOut property of the application?

My question is that, for each control the Stored Procedure called or not? If it is yes then it is time consuming and I need to use LINQ to DataSet or LINQ to Object rather than to call SP for each control. What is difference between LINQ to DataSet and LINQ to Object?
