View 1 Repliesi want to design a stock financial report system and fortunately i hooked in the database design part. The report is made up of different sector and under the sectors thier are companies. All sectors have some unique entry fields which makes it different from the other. for example banking sector is different from insurance sector because there are entries that differ. My problem is how to create a non-redundant database that features all the sectors and companies. the idea i thought is to make a table for every sector and i found out that with these idea i wil have some relational issues for example in each sector i will have company id as primary so in establsiing relation i will hav constraint.
how to design a non-redundant databse with respect to these subject.
how to get year to date from SQL? If so I would be grateful if you would pass that knowledge off to me.

I have a cell that needs to autoincrement by 1 for every new database row in my table, Unfortunately I have to have the autoincrement restart at 1 at the beginning of each year so I can't use SQL Server identity increment. Maybe i'm wrong about the last statement and I just don't know how to do it.
The code i have is something like this:

I have a certain report I want to make where I want to calculate the slope of a dataset(turnover column) following the formula:
SumXY-MeanY*SumX / SumXX-MeanX*SumX
In order to do that the X-range has to be an integer from 1 to the last datarow. In my report I get this exact number with the rownumber(nothing) formula. But it seems I can't calculate with it in the expression for the slope because it gives errors:
=(rownumber(nothing)-Avg(Fields!TurnOver.Value)*Sum(rownumber(nothing)))/ ((Sum(rownumber(nothing)*rownumber(nothing)-avg(rownumber(nothing))*sum(rownumber(nothing)))

We have a demand system where customer can demand the quantity they want for a particular deal.
For each demand they submit, a new record is added to the DealDemandRequest table with the CustomerID, DealID, Quantity
I want to be able to to calculate the total quantity demanded by a particular customer. Current I query the DealDemandRequest table for all the records by a particular customer and then do a sum of the Quanity column.
However, we are expecting this table to be over 1 million record and it is reallly really slow right now.. Any better ways?
