On our company we have a intranet site which uses ASP classic to authenticate users before accesing the site. This site was working before but suddenly i throws an error which limits the users in accessing the intranet site. I made a debugger page in order to know the error of the application and it showed me this error [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied. On my local machine the page is accessible on my (IIS server) the connectionstring in the web server and in my localhost are the same. I just can't figure out what's causing this problem.

I get the follwowing exception while running my ASP.NET 1.1 web application. The Web application will call a web service which connects to to the DB server and returns the data to the application. This error occurs when we move the webservices and databases to new servers. I am able to connect to the DB server from web servers through SQL port.

I am trying to send an email but it's not working, i get the following error:- Transaction failed. The server response was: 5.7.1 EMAILADDRESS: Relay access denied See where it gives EMAILADDRESS is the actual email address i want it to be sent to. I am inserting a record and want to set the value for a foreign key but I am getting an error - I initally thought that it would insert it if it didn't exist but I must be wrong and want to confirm that I need to check all values and make a record for them if they don't exist... here's what I am trying to do - does his make sense?

I'm writing a page that gets info from my database quite often, but on different events.
To demonstrate, There are three buttons- "Adults","Kids", and "babies".
When clicking on "Adults" the code fetches info from the "Adults" table and displays it.
Everything is working well, thing is I'm not sure that the way I implemented it is good enough.
What I did is that on each button click, in the eventhandler a new instance of the connection object is created, with which I open a conneciton, fetch the data, and than close it.
So, if I have 3 buttons- there are three different connection objects, in three differenct eventhandlers, each doing his own Open-Close.
Thing is the page needs to expand to 19 objects (give or take) where not all of them are buttons, each of them should access my datasource- and I'm pretty sure that 19 times creating a connection object + Open-Close operations for each is the wrong way.

But an exception (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED)) is thrown if the current user is not a domain administrator. How can a simple domain user connect to this management scope?

I just ran a project that I've been working on and the project couldn't connect to the sql server engine. This project worked fine yesterday. This morning I installed the new Adobe Flash player 10.0. That's the only thing that's changed sine I last worked with my project.
I got an exception for the sql server error when I run my app. This is the exception from the app:

I am unable to connect to my local instance of SQL Server 2008 Express using SQL Server Management Studio.I believe the problem is related to a change I made to the connection protocols. Before the error occurred, I had Shared Memory enabled and Named Pipes and TCP/IP disabled. I then enabled both Named Pipes and TCP/IP, and this is when I started experiencing the problem.
I have now set Named Pipes and TCP/IP back to disabled. When I try to connect to the server with SSMS (with either my SQL server sysadmin login or with windows authentication), I get the following error message:
"A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 0 - No process is on the other end of the pipe.) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 233)"
My first question here is: why is it returning a Named Pipes error? Why isn't it using Shared Memory? It seems like it is not listening on Shared Memory for some reason?When I set Named Pipes to enabled and try to connect, I get the same error message.My windows account is does not have administrator priviliges on my computer.

My code is not being allowed to save an xml file in a folder on my server. Why is this?

It seems to say something about not being authenticated and adding users to the config file. However this code has nothing to do with any users or groups, I just want it to always have permission to save files on the server. The code is purely internal, more like the core innerworkings of the site, it has nothing to do with users. I don't want to have to authenticate it, it shouldn't need authenticating, I just want it to work.

I'm running SQL Express 2005 on an SBS 2003 Standard Server and I keep getting this error back.A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 28 - Server doesn't support requested protocol)
I've uploaded my project to this same server, and I've so far checked that TCP/IP has been enabled for this instance, I've checked the IPs are relevant, I've checked that the connection string is correct, and I've even set a dynamic port number as I've noticed that SBS runs 2005 databases for Sharepoint and Monitoring.
Interestingly enough, I can connect to this instance via Visual Studio on my remote machine, and SSMSE and also via SSMSE on the server as well?The connection string i'm running with is:

I am trying to update an old VS 2003 Web project. I've worked on it plenty of times in the past on this machine with no issues, but for some reason now when I try to debug it I get the above error (Unable to start debugging the web server. This is when the call to GetRolesForUser(username) is made to the AuthorizationStoreRoleProvider. The website is running under it's own machine service account and when I look at the Security tab in AzMan.msc I can see the service account has Administrator access to the store. I've tried adding to the Reader rights but this doesn't do anything.
This error has not shown up in development on Windows 7 Workstation and interestingly the local store was created in the same way from the website code, so the website service account has full access. I've checked file permissions and played around with the security settings in AzMan.msc and I cannot get it going. At one stage the error changed to "Invalid Handle". There is nothing in the event log so it's very tough to troubleshoot an obscure COM error like this. I guess it could be anything! :)
I also tried impersonating a domain account for the call based on some other posts I read on the net but this didn't work for me. The other interesting thing to note is that the website creates the store (first time) and it actually mnages to create the store without any problems at all. It's just this call to GetRolesForUser that blows out.
