DataSource Controls :: SQL Server Engine Cannot Connect To Instance Of SQL Server
Jun 22, 2010
I just ran a project that I've been working on and the project couldn't connect to the sql server engine. This project worked fine yesterday. This morning I installed the new Adobe Flash player 10.0. That's the only thing that's changed sine I last worked with my project.
I got an exception for the sql server error when I run my app. This is the exception from the app:
Exception Details: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)
I tried to connect to the engine with the ssms but couldn't connect that way either. This gave me an error that said:TITLE: Connect to Server
I'm running SQL Express 2005 on an SBS 2003 Standard Server and I keep getting this error back.A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 28 - Server doesn't support requested protocol)
I've uploaded my project to this same server, and I've so far checked that TCP/IP has been enabled for this instance, I've checked the IPs are relevant, I've checked that the connection string is correct, and I've even set a dynamic port number as I've noticed that SBS runs 2005 databases for Sharepoint and Monitoring.
Interestingly enough, I can connect to this instance via Visual Studio on my remote machine, and SSMSE and also via SSMSE on the server as well?The connection string i'm running with is:
Data Source=localhostVDSSQL;Initial Catalog=myDB;Persist Security Info=True;User ID=SA;Password=***
I just installed SQL Server 2008 Management studio Express on my Vista machine.i tried connecting to local machine using :
.sqlexpress, (local)sqlexpress, or .SQLExpress, MyPCNAMESQLExpress
nothing is working, getting this error:
----------------------------- Cannot connect to PC-NAMESQLEXPRESS. A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified) ----------------------------
I am using Sql Server 2008 to connect to a Remote Server. Everything was working fine for the last couple of months, and i was successfully connecting to the remote server. Today it suddenly stopped connecting to the remote server. note that i did not alter any configuration settings. Did my isp block Sql Server. My ISP is using ISA SERVER? The error details are:
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) (.Net SqlClient Data Provider) I am using Microsoft Firewall Client For ISA Server for opening ports. But today nothing is working.
I have created web pages using VS Web Developer that use a local Developer Edition of SQL server database on my PC with LINQ to SQL. When I deploy my website to a remote web host SQL server, I need for my web pages to be able to use the remote database instead of the local database. So, how do I get the Server Explorer to connect with a remote SQL Server database?
I am unable to connect to my local instance of SQL Server 2008 Express using SQL Server Management Studio.I believe the problem is related to a change I made to the connection protocols. Before the error occurred, I had Shared Memory enabled and Named Pipes and TCP/IP disabled. I then enabled both Named Pipes and TCP/IP, and this is when I started experiencing the problem.
I have now set Named Pipes and TCP/IP back to disabled. When I try to connect to the server with SSMS (with either my SQL server sysadmin login or with windows authentication), I get the following error message:
"A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 0 - No process is on the other end of the pipe.) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 233)"
My first question here is: why is it returning a Named Pipes error? Why isn't it using Shared Memory? It seems like it is not listening on Shared Memory for some reason?When I set Named Pipes to enabled and try to connect, I get the same error message.My windows account is does not have administrator priviliges on my computer.
I'm trying to publish an ASP.NET website over an IIS 6.0 (Windows 2003 Server), and I have some troubles trying to connect to the database. Curiously, I have installed another ASP.NET website into the same IIS 6.0 with the same properties and security parameters and can connect without problems with the same database. The application that works fine is almost the same that the one that can't connect with SQL Server (actually is the same but with several modifications).I'll enumarate some information related to the problem:
S.O: Windows 2003 Server SQL Server Engine: SQL Server 2008 SQL Server accept remote connections? Yes. ASP.NET version: 2.0.50727 The connections via TCP/IP are enabled to the SQL Server instance? Yes. The corresponding user that I have in the connection string, actually exists into the database with the "owner" role? Yes. ORM Tool used: nHibernate
I get the following error when I try to run the aplication into the browser:
Error while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may occur because the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Shared Memory Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)
I made some test. For example, using the web app that works fine I can connect without any problema with the database that uses the web app that can't. With this evidence I concluded that the problem is within the web app and not into the SQL Server instance.
I am working on sql server 2000.I have only one instance running on SQL SERVER 2000.I have the instance name as 'ashvinDIT0934/sys07DIT' registered somehow.But i need to have it simply as 'mycompanyname' (no changes but as 'mycompanyname'). how i could change it and have the instance name changed.The instance name that i have given above i.e (ashvinDIT0934/sys07DIT) when inserted into the connectionstring does not work.It says as invalid escape sequence.So hence i need to have it as 'mycompanyname'
I want to connect Sql server which is on remote mechine by IP adress. at present i able to connect sql sever which is on local machine using followning code:
SqlConnection con = new SqlConnection("Data Source=HCL-LAPTOP;Initial Catalog=databasename;User id=sa;Integrated Security=True");
i installed both of VS2008 and VS2010 on my laptop.when i want to connect sql bank 2005 i got this error http://uploadpic.org/showpic-42108/untitled_1.jpgi installed SQLEXPR for windows 7 64bitbut it didn't work. there is nothing istance of sql 2005 in SQL Server Configuration Manager
i am tring to connect to my db in sql server 2005 :) and have some problem with it.the error that i get is : Keyword not supported: 'datasource'.the line that i have an error is :
I have been given a .NET type web hosting by my provider along with MSSQL. I am learing what that means and how to use it. Can I use my SQL Server 2008 Management Studio to connect to that SQL over the internet in order to put my database on the web? or how else can I use it?
I try to connect sql server 2005 through OBDC connection bt i face a error, i face this error
ERROR [08001] [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]SQL Server does not exist or access denied. ERROR [01000] [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]ConnectionOpen (Connect()).
OdbcConnection conn = new OdbcConnection("Driver={SQL Server};Server=test;UID=sa;PWD=java;");// test is my ODBC connection name string query = "INSERT INTO test VALUES ('" + textBox1.Text + "','" + textBox2.Text + "')"; OdbcCommand cmd = new OdbcCommand(query, conn); try { conn.Open(); cmd.ExecuteNonQuery(); MessageBox.Show("Record Inserted."); } finally { conn.Close(); }
I started a new Sql Server 2008 with mixed authentication Windows and SQL SERVER AUTh... I created a new login account and use it to directly connect in SQL server managment studio BUT... when i create in VS2008 the connectionstring... everytime i try to open the DB connection i take an exception to the login... some screenshots show all the process ;)
LOGIN: admintvmaismais PASSWORD: ex Working to connect in SQL SERVER MANAGEMENT... LOGIN STATUS ON SQL SERVER MANAGEMENTE
Now in VS2008 Web-Config I declare the connectionstring:
<connectionStrings> <add name="SqlConnectionString" connectionString="Server=JP;Database=tvmaismais;User ID=admintvmaismais;Password=ex;" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" /> </connectionStrings> and When i try to open a connection like this: SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["SqlConnectionString"].ConnectionString); try { conn.Open(); ... } catch (Exception e) { retorno = e.Message.ToString(); } finally { if (conn.State == ConnectionState.Open) conn.Close(); conn.Dispose(); }
I get this exception: Cannot open database "tvmaismais" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'admintvmaismais'. What am I missing? What do i need to do, to get this login to work?
I have never created my own solution before now. I have always modified existing solutions and know how to do it. For some reason, this new solution isn't connecting to my SQL server correctly.
I am using VWD 2008 Express Edition.
I have MSSQL 2008 Developer Edition.
I have used aspnet_regsql.exe to create the tables in my SQL DB.
I have added the following to my webconfig:
[Code]....
But for some reason, when I try to use the Web Site Administration Tool it thinks it is not setup.
On our company we have a intranet site which uses ASP classic to authenticate users before accesing the site. This site was working before but suddenly i throws an error which limits the users in accessing the intranet site. I made a debugger page in order to know the error of the application and it showed me this error [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied. On my local machine the page is accessible on my (IIS server) the connectionstring in the web server and in my localhost are the same. I just can't figure out what's causing this problem.
I am using Asp.Net MVC 2.0 for creating a user and assigning properties to the user at the same time. I am using my Windows account to access database on my local computer. I am using pre-installed MVC code o create a user with unique user name and password. User is created OK. Then I want to add profile properties like First and Last name at the same time.
where profileInformation is a RegisterModel and has user info.
When I am trying to:
profileBase.SetPropertyValue(.....);
I am getting the following error # 2147467259 A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Shared Memory Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)"}
Why is my connection string works fine the first time and not working now? And how to configure connection to use TCP-IP?
I have SQL Server Browser running ander Local account and openned port in my Firewall.
Following is the error I am getting while accessing some of the pages on my website.
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)
It is trowing an exception and giving the about mentioned error.
i get error A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.)
