i have one parent grid on which if user clicks a record ,the child details should get displayed on same page.
for example :
There is one department details table and employees table:
if user selects a record in department details grid,then employees in the selected department should get displayed in the next grid in the same page

My overall aim is to have the sql order the table for me, and by using this new "depth" column, I will be able to indent by categories in the menu on the front end, you have probably seen this before, but all the tutorials I have read dont really explain it very well, or assume you are sql savvy.
I have a webform (parent) with embedded webgrid(child) which uses sqldatasource. What I wanted to accomplish is to save both the form data and the grid data when the Save button is clicked. I tried to save form data(parent) in sqldatasource1_inserting event, does not work. I think there should be a way to do it, just do not know how.

There are two tables, Categories & Subcategories:
Category table: CID, CategoryName Sub Category table: SID, CID, SubCategoryName I would like to get SID, CID, CategoryName, SubCategoryName in the gridview. Is there a way to create a contact form that takes the name. address and other info for the master record; Then, somehow, on the same page, allow the user to enter multiple contact info as chid records (i.e. phone, email, etc.)

how can i retrieve the all foreign keys against a single primary key. i mean to say that if a table contain a primary key then it becomes as foreign keys in which tables.
i want to take that nam of that tables and on the base of that tables then i am to delete from all the entries. e.g: if a primary key's column entry deleted then all foreing key entries should also be deleted.
there are 988 tables in a single database. it can't be possible to go for each table to setup foreign key to ON DELETE CASCADE.

I have 3 pages, one to add a category, one to edit the category, and one to delete the category. The add and edit work fine. The delete is not working for some reason. I click the link on my site to delete it, and I'm just staring at the green bar in my browser taking a long time. The add and edit don't take long at all to perform their function. I'm thinking this is a connection string issue, but I don't see how it can be the case. It relies on web.config for it just like the other pages. Following is the delete page code behind and also delete cascade from the business logic area. After the page refreshes, I'm not getting any diagnostics or error messages which I have in the code. Doesn't this have to mean a db connection issue?

a FormView that is linked to SqlDataSource1a Repeater control (inside the formview) that is linked to SqlDataSource2 Thus representing a simple "1 to many" or "parent/child" relationship in the database!
SqlDataSource1 is simple in that it just retrieves a straight set of records from a table and they are displayed back in the FormView (nothing special happening there).
SqlDataSource2 has parameters that filter the contents of the repeater based on the record that is shown in the Formview. This would normally be simple enough to set up by setting the parameter to the formview.selectedvalue property.
HOWEVER - THE PROBLEM ARISES...
The formview has multiple DataKeyNames because the table that the SqlDataSource1 links to has a compound key. So to filter the Repeater correctly SqlDataSource2 needs to map 3 parameters to 3 data key values in the formview.
I've tried setting the SqlDataSource2 parameters to:
