Sep 16, 2010I am running an Update statement against an SQL database on server 2008. The update runs but does not update the record, but returns no errors.The database is part of a commercial help desk package called TrackIt 8.5 which was just a fresh install on a new web server and a new sql server. The update is running from a web form we use to automatically create active directory accounts. After the account is created the web form closes out the work order in the Trackit db. This was working fine when the system was running on Server 2003 and SQL server 2005. Running Trackit version 7.02.The login use to access the database has full permissions to read and write to the database, just as it did on the old server which never had an issue updating. Odd thing is, if I log onto the SQL server and make a change to any single field in that record. I can then run the web form and it updates the record normally.

Jan 29, 2010I searched many posts in this forum and could not find good answer ,I almost tried all the suggestions in this forum for similar issue,So please don't say there are many posts to refer in this forum.Iam trying to fax a pdf document which is auto generated by the ItextSharp tool.Iam using ItextSharp PdfWriter for generating a pdf ,which writes the pdf in a file.Until this point everything is ok,I get the pdf document as expected.What would like to do is to send this pdf via email or fax based on the user input.Iam fine with sending this pdf as an attachment to the user's email.Problem arises is when iam trying to send a fax.I am using the input text value as the Receipent Fax Number(Right now iam concentrating by giving a valid fax number).Iam using the below code for faxing the document and receive the below error.

I am creating a custom gridview control which has a custom CheckBoxTemplateField column (deriving from TemplateField class). This template field column has custom Checkboxheadertemplate (implementing ITemplate) and CheckboxItemTemplate (also implementing ITemplate). In InstantiateIn method of both templates (header as well as Item template), I am adding a checkbox control which has Autopostback = true.
My requirement is:
I want to mark all the values in the binding column of datasource if checkbox in headertemplate is checked. I dont want to mark only rows visible on grid. I WANT TO MARK ALL ROWS IN DATASOURCE. I want to do this in _CheckedChanged event of checkbox in header template.
Problem I am facing: When I check/uncheck the checkbox in header, it postbacks. so in OnCheckedChanged event, gridview's datasource is null. Secondly, in any event of gridview, I could access only those rows of datasource for which corresponding rows are visible in gridview through Gridviewrow.DataItem property. But I want to set it for all rows in datasource.

I made a listview with some dropdownmenu and selectboxes to select from untill the query shows in the listview.
Now the query goes well and shows the first page of 4 rows as I wanted it.

Jan 14, 2010Where can I find documentation on the syntax that is expected for LinqDataSource.Select? It seems to be different from what I would do with Linq inline in C# code. For example, concatenateing something in Linq I would normally just do this in the projection:
new { FullName = (person.FirstName + " " + person.LastName ) }
However, with a LinqDataSource the only way I've found to do this is like this:
new ( String.Concat(person.FirstName, " ", person.LastName) as FullName)
I literally spent hours trying to figure this out, and only succeeded when I found a blog where someone gave this verbatim as an example. So I still don't understand why the syntax is different, the braces versus parens, aliasing, Concat operators. Next time I do this I want a better understanding so I am not playing this guessing game. It's like being handed a compiler, and trying to write a program when you don't know what language the compiler compiles.1. Are there different "flavors" of Linq? Like a VB Linq, and C# Linq?2. If so, is the LinqDataSource using a VB flavor of Linq?3. Really, what is really important to me, where can I find documentation on this particular falvor of Linq that the LinqDataSource expects? The documentation for the LinqDataSource itself gives nothing more than extremely simplistic examples.

DataSource Controls :: SQL Only Returns All The Rows Some Of The Time
Jan 15, 2010Iam confronted with a really weird issue the like of which ive never seen before. I recently developed a web application using ASP.net and launched it for my company, during the bug testing stages everything seemed fine, but once it was actually in production i started getting these weird errors that all stem from it not retrieving the correct rows.
The issue is this, sometimes the queries sent to the back end only return a partial amount of the rows actualyl requested, so if a user has a page loaded thats suppose to return X number of rows, they can sometimes get X - Y number of rows, and upon refreshing the page they get X - Z number of rows, and refreshing the same exact page again they might get X number of rows they were initially suppose to see. I've never seen anything like this before so Iam stumped.
I consulted some of the old developers in the company I used to work for, for assistance but when explaining and showing the problem they too were very confused with the issue.

I know the insert is occuring because the new record shows up in the grid after the databind, but the output parameter is not picking up the scope_identity() value...what am i doing wrong with the output parameter?
