DataSource Controls :: Saving Images To A Server Folder With Different Category Names And The Path To A Database?
Jan 19, 2010
Here is what I am basically trying to accomplish I want to upload images to the server separated into categories and save the file path into the database. I have found plenty of documentation on saving to a file and the file path to a database. But, I haven't found anything that will allow me to seperate the images into categoies.
I have made three tables in the database
[code]....
What I am trying to do is create a gallery for our clients to browse and download different vesions of posters and ad cards.
I am facing a problem with retrieving an image and showing it on asp.net grid. I migrated MS Access database to sql server. Image are visible in Crystal report when fetched from the same database (migrated sql server database). But same images are not visible in ASP.Net grid view or simple asp.net image control. Following is my code
SqlConnection oConn = new SqlConnection(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["csr"].ToString()); oConn.Open(); SqlCommand oraCmd = oConn.CreateCommand(); oraCmd.CommandText = "select top 1 photo from [test] where photo is not null"; SqlDataReader dr = null; dr = oraCmd .ExecuteReader (); if(dr.Read ()) if (dr["photo"] != null) { Response.ContentType = "image/gif"; Response.BinaryWrite((byte[])dr["photo"]); }
This function is getting called from another page . "hlopen" is hyper link in the grid. hlopen.NavigateUrl = "GetPhoto.aspx?id=1";
I want to store the image in specific folder by giving some id to that and Dynamically i want to generate new folder for storing another image.I am using FileUpload.saveas(sever.map(imgpath))but with these method i am able to store the image in project folder and i want to create a new folder etither in project folder or anywhere in machine and in that folder again one new folder with some name and in that i want to save image with unique id.
I have a task to upload multiple images to server path of the application folder . I have used the File Upload control in order to Upload the Images to server path but some images of about 778 kb are not supposed to be uploaded correctly. And while displaying the Images I am using Datalist control.
While I have tried to upload from Application in my system all files got uploaded but while acessing the link some files are not getting uploaded.
I am developing a Web Based Art Gallery. I need to save images to a folder and then retrive them.(I don't want to save images to a database) How should I proceed on it?
I have a mssql table of names. This table contains names from A thru Z. However, I want to be able to display names by their beginning alphabet...Like first Display names A thru CThen Display Names D thru F and ..so on....and so forth....thru ZI using asp.net and have a grid view with paging enabled.....
how to upload images to server(application/images folder) and retrive(display) from and on client PC for asp.net. its just for uplaoding logo directly to server folder and retriving from server to client. i am not getting server path on client pc for image.
I need to take an uploaded image, resize it, and save it to the database. Simple enough, except I don't have access to save any temp files to the server. I'm taking the image, resizing it as a Bitmap, and need to save it to a database field as the original image type (JPG for example). How can I get the FileBytes() like this, so I can save it to the database? Before I was using ImageUpload.FileBytes() but now that I'm resizing I'm dealing with Images and Bitmaps instead of FileUploads and can't seem find anything that will give me the bytes.
I have a folder with 200+ pictures. I want to get the names of each of the pictures to the database. would it be easier to import and export the images into the database (I want my webpage to be able to show the images once they are in the database)?
But when I upload image with Fileupload and click on btnupload button below error happen..
Server Error in '/' Application.
Access to the path 'C:Inetpubvhostsbehtop.comhttpdocsimageHouseservices8.jpg' is denied. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. I have been working with this database for some time. Here is the situation...
I inherited a MS SQL database that has hundreds of tables with similar data. For instance:
FordTampa_customer is a table,
ChevyAtlanta_customer is a table, etc....
All of the columns are the same...just different tables with their own ID field. All I have done...Inside of another database id is created a table called 'Customer' and added an 'Dealer ID' column along with the rest of the other columns in the other tables...
So the combination of the 'Dealer ID' and the 'ID' field are unique.....I know...its not the best way to do things...but I cannot change the old data structure because I cannot have access to it. I am give back-ups on a weekly basis, so this is all I have to work with.
All right, on to the real point of my post...
Currently, I have an application that I use to select all of the data from the 'Ford_customers','Chevy_customers',etc... and inserts them into my new main 'Customer' table. I do this by selecting the table names, bind it to an arraylist, loop through the list and execute an insert statement.
I do this in VB.NET, but I would prefer to do it in a Stored procedure of some kind....I just am not sure how to accomplish it. I use this syntax to get my list of tables:
[Code]....
I am not sure how to take those names from the table and do another select based on that list of names.
I want to upload images in to a folder in my project and save the URL in the database.
When you add a record into my database you provide title, date added and some other details and there it a file upload control which you browser to a image and it saves the image to a folder in my project, it all works, the record is added and the image is uploaded into the folder, but the problem I have is that there is no link from the record to the image, there is no URL path saved in the record. How do I save the image in the folder and save the URL of the image to the record?
I'm using details view to insert the records and using grid view to view the records.
i have a folder in server for saving my images and inside database i save the image name , now the issue is i want to display the image in image control in datalist how to do that
I have an user control that reads the data from app_data folder and does some processing. In design time I'd like to show the row data in control placeholder (using GetDesignTimeHtml). To do that I need to figure out the absolute path to app_data folder on my project. The HttpContext is not available and HostingEnvironment.MapPath returns null.
i used a file upload control to upload file..after uploading i want to preview image without storing its path or storing in DB or solution explorrer folder.when i upload using fileupload control..path of image comes in fileupload control now i used a button so,that on button click image should be displayed in image control..
I want to implement an image gallery in asp.net/C#. I am using sql server 2008, visual studio 2010 and .NET 4.0.
I have made a webpage and now want to display 6 images as thumbnails (and their names just below the thumbnails) at the center of the page. The format of the display is something like this:
[Code]....
Basic operation is like this:
I pull images from a database and then display them as above as thumbnails. The 1 2 3 Next> are links depending on whether there are more than 6 images pulled from the DB. So basically the numbering 1 2 3 4 Next> is dynamic depending on how many images exist. Can anyone give me a basic overview of how this an be achieved? Should I be using a asp:Repeater or a asp:DataList for this kind of a display?
I've got a project that's going to go on a dedicated server environment. I'll be uploading images to the server, but saving them outside of the virtual folder path of the actual website, like so:
Now, this works fine on my home computer. Is there anything I'll need to do with IIS or ASP.NET (possibly in web.config) for this to work properly on a production machine? Settings or permissions that may need changing?...
It will be on Window 2003 with IIS6 and ASP.NET 3.5 SP1.
