I have a folder with 200+ pictures. I want to get the names of each of the pictures to the database. would it be easier to import and export the images into the database (I want my webpage to be able to show the images once they are in the database)?

I have found plenty of documentation on saving to a file and the file path to a database. But, I haven't found anything that will allow me to seperate the images into categoies.

I tried this code by inputting the ftp address as ftp//: and the correct username and password and I get the following error
"Unable to connect to the remote server" on line :
FtpWebResponse Response = (FtpWebResponse)Request.GetResponse();I tired this on my ftp server provided by a hosting service and an anonymous ftp located at 193.166.120.5 ?
Note: I was able to connect to both of these ftp through filezilla, via a webbrowser, and through windows command line.
I'm currently struggling with this problem:
- I currently using Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 and the extension for my database in my web application is .mdf
- My supervisor gave me two files, student.txt and staff.txt
- I needed to import both of these files into my web application and I am new to this language and I have no idea on how to do this.
What's the best way to import a small csv file into SQL Server using an ASP.NET form with C#? I know there are many ways to do this, but I'm wondering which classes would be best to read the file and how to insert into the database. Do I read the file into a DataTable and then use the SqlBulkCopy class, or just insert the data using ADO.NET? Not sure which way is best. I'm after the simplest solution and am not concerned about scalability or performance as the csv files are tiny. Using ASP.NET 4.0, C# 4.0 and SQL Server 2008 R2.

View 1 RepliesWhen using VS2008 and C# I choose File - New - Web Site.I use namespaces in the aspx files in the same folder.The problem is that the aspx files in one folder can not access the aspx files in other folders even though the files in each of the other folders use the same namespace followed by the folder name.
In fact, if I am in one folder and type the namespaces followed by a period, the other folder names are not displayed in intellisense, only the name of the folder name of the aspx file in which it resides is displayed on the intellisense.
How can I get the other folder names to show in intellisense from any other folder that I am working in when coding in the code behind? fyi, in the html inherit I point to the namespace, the folder name and the code behind file then in the code behind file I code the namespace, the folder name the aspx file is in and the class is the name of the code behind file.

I have requirement to copy or move file from webserver app folder to local file system folder (user selected). How is it possible in ASP.Net.
On my page i have textbox and browse button and user clicks browse button to select folder and there is Copy/Move button and when clicked the files under webserver folder should be move to the user selected folder. The webserver folder path is available to application.

i think this probably has something to do with the access permission for the folder...So could you tell me what are the permissions required to be set for this job to be done on server.
in the application, I need write a jpg file to local folder on server, then show it in browser.
so, the code likes show this file:

In the ViewJpg.aspx, it will process the jpg. /view is in root folder.
it works fine when the code is on a server, however, I have problem when I debug in on local machine.
because the code is actually http://localhost/mYproject but HttpContext.Current.Request.Url.Host only returns http://localhost.

But the Path can't be relative (like ~\Photos\image.jpg) .
