DataSource Controls :: The Type 'System.Data.Linq.DataContext' Is Defined In An Assembly That Is Not Referenced?
May 28, 2010
I have a strange problem. I am adding a LinqDatasource object, and set the context:
[Code]....
Then I get this error:The type 'System.Data.Linq.DataContext' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to assembly 'System.Data.Linq, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'.
i am trying to export a table from access database to excel sheet but i am facing error saying Type 'System.Data.OleDb.OleDbCommand' is not defined.
Public Class Form1 Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim AccessConn As New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=C:Documents and SettingsUSERDesktopD0605data.accdb") AccessConn.Open() 'New sheet in Workbook Dim AccessCommand As New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbCommand("SELECT * INTO [Excel 8.0;DATABASE=C:Documents and SettingsUSERDesktopD0605data1.xlsx;HDR=NO;].[Sheet1] from [Table1]", AccessConn) AccessCommand.ExecuteNonQuery() AccessConn.Close() End Sub End Class
I have created a server control for my web page... I have decided to add an ajax popup extender (after creating the control, which builds and works fine.) After I add the AjaxControlToolKit reference I add the following:
[Code]....
I get this error when I add it:"The type 'System.Web.UI.ExtenderControl' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to assembly 'System.Web.Extensions, "I googled the error and it says to add something inside the web config... I do not have a web.configfile inside the server control.
I wanted to delete the record from data but I receive this error "Unable to cast object of type 'System.Data.Linq.DataQuery`1[training_eval.Course]' to type 'training_eval.Course'.
Dim eval_sure = From ev In db.Evaluates Where ev.course_id = indexcourse Select ev.course_id Dim del_course = From c In db.Courses Where c.Course_id = indexcourse db.Courses.DeleteOnSubmit(del_course) db.SubmitChanges()
I have a System.Data.Linq.DataContext object and need to know the proper way of closing it out before it goes out of scope in order to prevent the following error when making a bunch of database changes:
Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to obtaining a connection from the pool. This may have occurred because all pooled connections were in use and max pool size was reached.
Can I just call obj.Dispose() or do I need to call obj.Connection.Dispose() or obj.Connection.Close()?
I guess what I want to know is will calling obj.Dispose() end up executing the functionality in obj.Connection.Dispose() and obj.Connection.Close(). The MSDN documentation that I found on these functions does not have this information (at least I didn't see it - I could have mistakenly overlooked it).
I have a linq DataSource and a Grid in my htnl and I want to access the DataContext from code behind. Now in the past when I do evrything in code behind I just use...
DataContextName db = new DataContextName();
and I have my reference.
Now I can still do that and it works fine it just seems odd to be making a second class object when there is one that is made from the linq DataSource in the html. But I can't figure out how to get a reference to the DataContext that is created from my html code.
I want to do paging the API Membership without using the datacontrols, but I get this error "Unable to cast object of type '<TakeIterator>d__3a`1[System.Char]' to type 'System.Collections.IList'." when I do this,
I am trying to write a table output from SQL database to a gridview/ Data List through an Object Data Source. I am a new starter and your help will be useful.
public List<Staff> GetStaff() cmd.CommandType = SqlConnection con = new SqlConnection(connectionstring);SqlCommand cmd = new [code]...
i have installed ajax control kit successfully and all controls already came in toolbar tab named "Ajax Control toolkit"But when i try to design any page using with ajax control toolkit, follow error is coming:

I am using VIsual Studio 2008 , framework 3.5 but i don't know why in error information version is showing 2.0
i install tool kit according 3.5 framework.also note, framework built-in ajax tags i can use fine and they work properly.
i have installed ajaxtoolkit 3.5 but when i debug i am getting this error Could not load type 'System.Web.UI.ScriptReferenceBase' from assembly 'System.Web.Extensions, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' even i have changed my tags to
So, I've been programming for a number of years. Finding some intricately asinine issues w/ ASP.NET and VB.NET as I learn them. How about this one:
[Code]....
The issue is not Date1 The issue is Date2.
No kidding. I had to String.Format Date1 for some odd reason, even though I'd already validated it. And, yes, I tried to parse and convert Date1 but I kept gettting the typical "Argument 'Date2' cannot be converted to type 'Date'." error. (Did you catch the copy & paste? I didn't edit it from my existing error, but Date2 should be Date1.) Yeah, that's the error I'm getting now with the above ...
"Argument 'Date2' cannot be converted to type 'Date'."
Date2 is a system defined type. Why can't the system convert and/or simply use it's own pre-defined type?
I am trying to create a type of table on sql 2008. The following sql fails saying Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'AS'. what i am doing wrong as this looks fine to me.
in my web project i got an error that i couldnt find any solution. the error says: System.Security.SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlClientPermission, System.Data, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed. when i work in local there were no problem i put files to our server and i changed the database also. when i work in server in web application in Default.aspx i can connect db and get values without any problem using my DataLibrary
BUT the problem in my web service i also use my DataLibrary in webservice but when i try to run a method in web service it gives me the error which is : System.Security.SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlClientPermission, System.Data, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed.
Basically, what I did is that: I have a table in SQL database and some of data fields allow null. I built Objectdatasource through dataset. When I built update page using dataset. It generate the following error before showing the update page correctly. It seems I have issue to retrieve the null value from the database through using objectdatasource through dataset. Any suggestions?An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code
I am trying to upload a picture into database using FormView insertItemTemplate. FormView is bounded by objectdatasource.To upload, I placed FileUpload control inside insertItemTemplate.In table the dataType is image.Error:Object of type 'System.Boolean' cannot be converted to type 'System.Byte[]'.
I have an ASP.NET 3.5 solution which has 2 projects in it: class library (data access) and the web project. The project has now changed and requires me to change the design and only have one project and move the class library into the web project. I have successfully moved most of the class library into the App_Code folder I created but continue to get an error when I run the program. The error is in regards to the Linq to SQL classes or dbml file. I continue to get a error:
Compiler Error Message: BC30002: Type 'EntityRef' is not defined. Line 868: Private _CreateDate As Date Line 869: Line 870: Private _Code As EntityRef(Of Code) Line 871: Line 872: Private _Lab As EntityRef(Of Lab)
I have changed the dbml file to use the new connection string and modified any code behind by searching all the files in my project. But continue to receive this message. I've removed all the references to my old project and also removed any old .dll's which could have had references to it and continue to have the problem. Is there maybe a reference in my project I am missing or something else simple I have overlooked?
I should also mention when I move the .dbml file outside the App_Code folder (root of the website) and right click the project and select Convert to Web Application it works just fine.
I am making a website to store invoices so i can mail them to clients. So i got a table for clients, invoices and one with invoice products/services. When an invoice has no products/services added to them and it returns null i get the error "the null value cannot be assigned to a member with type System.Decimal which is a non-nullable value type."
I just started with linq. Before i always used mysql. Mostly i just had to call data from 1 table so forgive me if my linq query isn't really correct.
Dim invoices = From i In db.invoices _ Group Join p In db.products On i.id Equals p.invoiceId Into invoiceProducts = Group _ Select New With {i.client.naam, i.titel, (From iP In invoiceProducts Select iP.prijs).Sum}
i show the client's name, the title of the invoice and the total amount the clients will need to pay for products and services.
I am using System.Linq.Dynamic to create the following query at runtime:
[Code]....
I can then successfully display vMediaQ in a GridView.But I need to be able to access the individual fields (column headers and data) in vMediaQ, which is of type System.Linq.IQueryable.
I have an Interface that has its concrete class defined via a factory. Because of this I found no way to use the Interface tpye directly in my LINQ quesry so I had to use the concrete class types to creat a generic list. The LINQ query works but after calling.ToList() on the LINQ query result I get a List(of MyConcreteClass), but I need a List(of IMyConcreteClass). I have tried everything I can find: .Cast, Ctype, implicit casting, etc. but I always get back one of the (2) messages (depending on if I attempt to cast)message:
"Unable to cast object of type 'System.Collections.Generic.List`1[MyConcreteClass]' to type 'System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable`1[IMyConcreteClass]'." ...or "Unable to cast object of type '<CastIterator>d__aa`1[IMyConcreteClass]' to type 'System.Collections.Generic.List`1[MyConcreteClass]'."
