DataSource Controls :: Using A Variable As A Parameter In A SQL Statement

I've done some SSIS package work in the past, but am by no means an expert.
I want to use an SSIS package to do the following:
1. Get the file name of the newest file in a windows folder (using a filename template like his: filename_ *.txt where the * part is always a date in the format of yyyy-mm-dd.
2. Use that file name in later portions of the SSIS package by reading the file and transferring data from it to a SQL table using a Data Flow task.
and use the result (which should be the name of the newest file) to open that file and pull data out of it and into a 2nd SQL table. I admit, I'm not sure how to use the dynamic result of this SELECT query as the file name in a flat file connection manager.
I am rather confused as how or where to declare this variable in asp.net.

Whenever i put this in my sqldatasource for it is asking me to Define Parameters:
The wizard has detected one or more parameters in your SELECT statement. For each parameter in the Select Statement, choose a source for the parameter's value.
how to add " Addwith parameter" for this Statment. I have this query for search, Whn the user type in " Ac's" with apostrope, i get an error. So i have to use Add with parametr.I fill the gridview with the result.
As you can see, the connectionstring parameter is defined to a specific connection string name and I need to be able to set such a parameter to a different value, for example, to a session variable content.
I am storing a custom "Organisation" object as a session variable. One of the properties of the Organisation object is "OrganisationID" (integer). I have a DataSource that requires a parameter value to run, and I want to use a SessionParameter to populate this. In a previous version, I stored the OrganisationID directly as a session variable. In that case, I could easily access it like this:

However, how do I now access the OrganisationID property of an "Organisation" type session variable (called "Organisation")? I have tried this, which does not seem to work: <asp:SessionParameter Name="OrganisationID" SessionField="Organisation.OrganisationID" Type="Int32" />
How can i check a parameter value and add onto or remove conditions from my where statement.Here is what i mean.. i have a stored procedure that is being used for returning small set of fields based on a parameter that it is expecting. Since the only difference between the select statements are the last AND condition, i was wondering if i can check that parameter as im doing now but change that AND condition so that i have only 1 select statement instead of 3 within my procedure.Current Example:

I have a session variable that 'march_cpi_session' that I wish to include in an sql select statement to multiply the values I get from a datatable before they're used to populate a gridview control. The session variable works fine elsewhere in my application, but causes a variety (depending upon how I fiddle about with the syntax) of sql errors. This is the currrent code:
I need to run a select statement on log in event and store the value of the select statement (returning one item) in a session variable.Do I have to u sqldatasource for this.. or is there someway I can run a single select statement and store the resulting value in a variable?

And I want to save it as a parameter for an accessDataSource but I'm not finding anywhere that tells me how to do this properly. My attempts thus far have been
OK So I know WHY I am having the error I am getting. I don't know HOW to fix it. Basically, if the user doesn't have a certain permission, I need to join another table. But .NET is so picky I can't just make two different queries in an IF statement and then use it outside of the if statement. I can think of some ugly work arounds for this, but I would rather not. I am fairly new to .NET I know just enough to be dangerous.

because of this: Dim l As IEnumerable(Of Company) its not just IEnumerable of a Company, its got the source in it. I have to explicitly select source to use it in my datagrid. Can I make Dim l something that will make it stop complaining?
On Page1 of a project, I have a Gridview showing a table of customer names (showing CustID, CustName, CustJoinDate). When I click on a record, I have passed a querystring to Page2 showing an address table for that customer. This part works for me.
The SQL statement in simply: Select * from CustAddress where CustID = @cust
What I would like to do though, is capture that @cust to a session variable so that I can use it later on.
This may be elementary user control stuff, but I can't get it to work.
How can I pass the Membership.GetUser.UserName variable (or any variable) through a user control parameter at load time?

The only thing that I was able to do was to create the User Control object in the code behind and then add it to the page. Although that works, it doesn't seem like the correct way to program.
I have a Stored Proc which uses a field in the database. that ends up being the user.identity.name. So, when the page loads, it grabs that name and uses it in the stored proc, which I'm which I'm wanting to designate in the sql datasource. But it only gives me choices of querystring, cookie, session, control, etc. My question is how to reference that variable as the parameter in the datasource?
This should be really simple and I am new to asp development.
I am using ASP log in controls..when user logs in, I am storing the userid in a session variable. On this another page, I want to put the previously stored session variable value into a table using Insert statement.
