Jun 4, 2010Is there anything special you have to do to retrieve Filestream data using a SqlDataSource? I'm using VB and have this as my sqldatasource:

The Filestream data has a PDF file in it, but what I"m getting back in "data" are 13 bytes consisting of: "System.Byte[]".

Jan 19, 2011I have a Stored Proc which uses a field in the database. that ends up being the user.identity.name. So, when the page loads, it grabs that name and uses it in the stored proc, which I'm which I'm wanting to designate in the sql datasource. But it only gives me choices of querystring, cookie, session, control, etc. My question is how to reference that variable as the parameter in the datasource?

Jun 3, 2010I'm using Visual Studio 2008 Query Builder and am trying to pass a value to a parameter that uses the IN OPERATOR.Here is my sql from qb:
SELECT COURSE_TITLE, INSTR_NAME, ADMIN_UNIT
FROM vwHRIC_EC_ContractSummary
WHERE (ADMIN_UNIT IN (@ADMIN_UNIT))
The trouble I am having is that if the parameter @ADMIN_UNIT contains more than one value such as (8X, CV) that the query doesn't return any data. If I run the same query with only one value such as (8X) it works fine.I have tried different formats like (8X, CV), ('8X', 'CV'), (8X; CV) but none have worked.I ran this same query in SQL Server Management Studio and and it returns data no problem but can't get it to work in Query Builder for my aspx application.Does anyone have any experience with this problem and how did you correct it?

Jan 8, 2010I have had a persistant problem, which occurs in "Visual Web Developer 2008" express, but also in "Visual Studio 2010"
When I drop a data control onto my webpage, and the select "Configure Data Source", the dialog box opens, but when I try and browse for the data file (could be MDB or XLS) the data file does not appear in the "Select (XML/MDB) file" - in the example below a XML file. If I set the filter to "All Files (*.*)" I can see all of the files EXCEPT the XML files.
The project is a web project, and is set to HTTP - using my local IIS.

Aug 4, 2010I know this sounds odd. I have a SQL DB that I am pulling data from. I have to some math functions to get a percentage. So I am pulling all the data in my code and building a data table with the results. I am then trying to pass this into a chart control that I have, but it fails because the data source is not correct for the chart control. I know that the chart control will accept a SQLDataSource control as a data source because a built a example with it before using it in my project.So my question is how can I use the Data Table as a data source for a SQLDataSource Control? Or is there a way I can pull the data from my DB andapply the math needed in a stored procedure or something similar that I could create the procedure on my SQL server then add a SQLDataSource control to my page and use the stored procedure as the source for the SQLDataSource Control.

Apr 30, 2010I have an SqlDataSource query that should use an input parameter for multiple integer values, like:
select * from table1 where TableID IN (1,2,3,4,5)
->
select * from table1 where TableID IN (@IDValues)
How do I do that ? Default parameter settings won't work, returning "invalid integer value" . I suppose that parameter should be passed as some kind of array that SQL recognizes as multiple integer values , but what's the correct way of setting this ?

The query works fine when the user enters a name of a city. However, if I leave the textbox blank and enter nothing, no records are returned by the query.I need all records to be returned when user leave the textbox blank and there is no value of the city.How to do that?is there a default value can do that?

What I want is to grab the screenshotId from the SqlDataSource when the usp_GetOrderDetails stored proc gets called and populate it into a field on the page called screenshotId. I then want to use this screenshotId to get an image from the database based on Id. populating the screenshotId field. How do I do this - do I need to have something like OnDataBound or something like that?

In my investigating i have come across number of tools(shown below) to use with Visual Studio 2008 professional
Development tool:- Visual Studio 2008 professional using Subversion as source control tool. Continuous Integration:- Hudson or Cruise control Build tool:- NAnt Testing:- NUnit, Selinium As Visual Studio 2008 can be used for unit testing I think NUnit is out of consideration.
In the same way i would like to have any other tools/add-ons to Visual studio to implement continuous integration, building and unit testing. This process should be automated such a way source code between team members is continuously integrated, built and unit testing is done as configured.
Objective is to use few number of tools as add-on to Visual Studio or achieve most from Visual studio itself (example unit testing). Visual Studio should be all in one tool.
I am aware that Team Foundation Server best suits my requirement, but it is out of scope due to its cost.

I have a DataSource that requires a parameter value to run, and I want to use a SessionParameter to populate this. In a previous version, I stored the OrganisationID directly as a session variable. In that case, I could easily access it like this:
