DataSource Controls :: Created LINQ To SQL Classes And Built The Project, Then Created An Aspx Page?
Jun 3, 2010
I have been using LINQ to SQL for quite a while (about two years). Every thing was fine until now. As usual, I created LINQ to SQL classes and built the project, then created an aspx page. However, I cannot see the DataClassesDataContext in the code behind file. It is not listed in the intellisense list.
For no apparent reason (of course there must be one), my web project will no longer generate LINQ to SQL classes/data contexts!!!I am going about the usual routine of right clicking the project, adding new item, selected LINQ to SQL classes, then dragging over a table from Server Explorer, saving and build but no...the bloody thing won't appear!!!Does anyone know why this might be happening/what have I done wrong?
I have an Interface that has its concrete class defined via a factory. Because of this I found no way to use the Interface tpye directly in my LINQ quesry so I had to use the concrete class types to creat a generic list. The LINQ query works but after calling.ToList() on the LINQ query result I get a List(of MyConcreteClass), but I need a List(of IMyConcreteClass). I have tried everything I can find: .Cast, Ctype, implicit casting, etc. but I always get back one of the (2) messages (depending on if I attempt to cast)message:
"Unable to cast object of type 'System.Collections.Generic.List`1[MyConcreteClass]' to type 'System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable`1[IMyConcreteClass]'." ...or "Unable to cast object of type '<CastIterator>d__aa`1[IMyConcreteClass]' to type 'System.Collections.Generic.List`1[MyConcreteClass]'."
what I am currently doing is creating an aspx form dynamically and saving its data by using Server.Transfer("PrssPage.aspx").
On ProcessPage.aspx I am using the Previous Page property to save the data entered by the user using the dynamically created form.
Each Dynamic Form is provided an ID for example 123.aspx
Now what I want to achieve is to repopulate the dynamically created aspx page with the user input values from database, plz note here that I do not have an aspx.cs page getting dynamically generated. I am only generating aspx page.
i am creating a simple web portal, but i am stuck in a aspx page which created by inheriting master page ,there is some jscript code, but i don't know where to put this code in that page.
I'm taking over a project built by other developers and they used Linq-To-Sql, which I've used, but not with stored procedures.
Most of them work, but some don't because the stored procedure returns a dynamic select statement. So L2S doesn't understand what return type to set for the stored procedure and it return an "int" instead of a "ISingleResult<some type>".
Even if I manually change the return type to what it should be in the data context and save (I know you aren't supposed to), the stored procedures revert back to the "int" return type. Is there any way to make them always return a particular type?
I'm creating a static helper class for web services I'm writing. I'm tapping into the API of Telligent and therefore creating these Telligent "service" objects that allow me to do things with the platform. For example, I'm creating a MembershipSerice object in my helper class so I can do membership stuff with the same object. In my helper class I have a property with a getter that creates a new one of these objects:
private static MembershipService _MembershipService { get return new MembershipService(path, usr, pwd); [code]...
i have created a dynamic web site that is made of these parts
1- Main Site (clients use this part to view the main site
2-Control Panel side (Admins can view and manage the First Part's content)
my problem is that i want to use both projects for another client's web site, but client 2 needs some custom features that should integrated with the existing control panel or Main Site, what is the efficient plan for do this?
I've been developing a ASP.NET page and have been using LINQ to handle talking to MS SQL server. I'm ok at basic SQL, however I'm a lot better with designing queries using LINQ. I know they are similar but I find it easer to design complex queries in LINQ. My question is this: Is there a way to design a query in LINQ and then get the SQL that it generated? I would like to embed the SQL in a stored procedure since multiple pages (outside my control) will need to do the same query.
Is there anyway I can extend LINQ classes through different namespaces?Typically in my class libraries I have a namespace for each class object and their associated DAO and service classes in a folder of my project, therefore on the front-end I can only use the namespaces associated with the given page and not clutter my intellisense or load in a bunch of excess stuff.
However, I have found that upon adding my .dbml LINQtoSQL file, whatever namespace that is in, whether it's the project root namespace or a custom one, is the only namespace I can use partial class extension in.I have tried even creating a custom workspace (placing the .dbml file in a folder) and then including a using statement to that namespace and I still cannot extend the partial classes. Is there anyway I can do this? Or to have the .dbml file count as being in every namespace? I don't want to remove all namespaces but the root one either.such when I try doing the partial class from a different namespace I get the following error:
Error 1 'Id' is not a member of 'LCFVB.EntityNS.Entity'. C:Usersshol726.UILAWDocumentsVisual Studio 2008ProjectsLCFVBEntityNSEntity.vb 10 7 LCFVB
My web page has two ways of displaying a particular content. 1. When the page is loaded, the items ( images with anchor tag) are generated using ASP Repeater. 2. When user perform some Ajax action, the images are returned as JSON and I use jQuery for creating the a & img tags.In both these methods, the anchor tags with images are displayed with width 60px. There is no CSS class applied. But strangely the display is not consistent. Here is the both displays:I wonder why this difference occur. I check this with all browsers ( IE,FF& chrome) and all behave the same. Here is my jQuery code:
Any idea why this behaviour occurs? I also checked the css applied to these elements in chrome and FF.. they seems to have all the same CSS attributes.
I have created a database along with the tables. The tables have the primary and foreign keys to create the relationship between them. However, I cannot now add the data to the table rows due to the key constraints. How do I now add the data to the tables without making up arbitrary data for the table ID's?
I created a small mvc site using framwork 4.0. I found my hosting company uses 3.5. I changed my project and compiled and there were no errors. Now when I run, I get this error on all pages: How can I get it to work in .net 3.5?

My users have "demanded" to have an export function to their gridviews, and since they're running from usercontrols there's no way to modify the response stream. My workaround is to create an aspx to run in a hidden iframe. To do that, and to make it modular, I'm trying to dynamically create everything from the querystring. This *seems* to work just fine until I bind my sqldatasource to the dummy gridview. I then get "Procedure or function 'xxx' expects parameter '@NumberResults', which was not supplied."
Say for example, I have script like below whereby everything is same except the table name and each table name will append an incremental number, is it possible for me to have a for loop to dynamically add the incremental number?
there is already an asp.net web site developed, now due to certain requirements i want to use silverlight enabled pages in my project(for its flexible designing purpose).
