[Code]....
I now want to count the number of returned rows so that I can say:IF rows_returned = 1 then login else deny
I think you get the idea.P.S. I know this is not the most secure method of login but I do not want to use the ASP.NET configuration manager as I like to understand what is happening. I am starting off very simple and I shall work up from there.
I am counting from a table for that i have written code as below
protected void get_Id_Afterpoint()
{
int counter = 0;
string strSql = "select count(*) as ID from tblEnergy where ID=?";
OdbcCommand com = new OdbcCommand(strSql, con);
com.Parameters.AddWithValue("ID", DropDownList1.SelectedValue);
OdbcDataAdapter oda = new OdbcDataAdapter(com);
DataTable dt = new DataTable();
oda.Fill(dt);
if (dt.Rows.Count == 0)
{
lblID2.Text = "1";
}
else
{
counter = dt.Rows.Count;
counter = counter + 1;
lblID2.Text = Convert.ToString(counter);
}
}
there is no record related to DropDownList1.SelectedValue. but as i am counting if(dt.rows.count) and i put break point on the bolded part it shows 1 record. how it can be possible?

View 2 Repliesim trying to count the amount of users inside a chatroom, im trying to count a specific row using LINQ to SQL.
Heres the code
DataRowView dataRow = ((DataRowView)e.Item.DataItem);
string roomId = dataRow["RoomID"].ToString();
ChatRoomDataContext db = new ChatRoomDataContext();
var query = from c in db.ChatLoggedInUsers
where c.RoomID.ToString() == roomId.ToString()
select new { };
foreach (var c in query)
{
}
Where " select new { }; " is, is left blank as i am not too sure what goes there. I tried adding c.UserName.Count() but i got an error. what i need to put into that space to count the amount of records in the UserName column?
I have a gridview bounded to an objectdatasource.
I want to get total count of record when there is paging = true or false in gridview.
I am currently trying to create a SQL statement that does a multiple count on a table. The table has a number of reports each listing the "User" who created that report and if that report is "Famous" (A famous report is symbolised as 2 in the table).
What I need to create is a SQL statement that returns each User with the total number of reports he/she has created and how many of these reports are famous. My current SQL statement looks like:
[Code]....
I have an SP that simply performs a COUNT(*) from a table. I'm am trying to print that number in an ASP Label. It works in Query analyzer but I cant wrap my head around how to display it in a label.
View 5 RepliesI have a SQL select statement with inner joins to get a total number of records for the statement. I have tried using count with group by's but it just counts one for each record instead of giving me the total number of records for the query. Here is the query:

i am developing a MLM software and i have to give downline summary..
so i have to get the count of downline by left and right...
I would like to insert a new column in my database table with a count of all of the records
How can I do this?
I am trying to get column count of an Excel sheet. I need count of only those columns which are explicity defined by sheet creator. Columns other than explicitly defined take the form F20,F21... which i dont want to include in my counting. I am using
Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0 to access data.
I have the following ...
<asp:SqlDataSource ID="totalcount" runat="server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:ConnectionString %>" SelectCommand="SELECT COUNT ([CID]) FROM [WWAMembers] WHERE([CID] IS NOT NULL)"></asp:SqlDataSource>
how do I get the totals displayed with label or other control?
I am viewing items returned from a dataset in an Infragistics chart control. My problem is that due to a weak point in the control, I am left looking for a way to manipulate the height of the chart based on the count/number of items returned by the ObjectDataSource(DataSet).
Does anyone one have an existing C# sample they could let me view of accessing the count of records returned within the code-behind of a page that I could then use within a case statement to set the hight of the control?
I have a several count stored procedures that are binding to gridview nicely for individual items. I now want a ful count of row so I use a stored procedure with:
[Code]....
Which works fine when testing in the DB and returns results like it should. My problem is that for the life me I cannot work how to display the results to a Label.Text or how to do it when my calendar has posted back thats where @LogDate comes from).
I am trying to count records belonging to a certain person in three different tables in a single select statement. The database looks like this:
Player
-PlayerId
-Name
Game
-GameId
-TournamentId
...
Goal
-GameId (FK->Game.GameId)
-PlayerId (FK->Player.PlayerId)
-Assist (FK->Player.PlayerId)
Card
-CardId
-GameId (FK->Game.GameId)
-PlayerId(FK->Player.PlayerId)
I want to select the number of goals, assist and cards a player has in a specific tournament. I tried with this query but then the goal and card column shows the sum of the number of rows matching the playerid in the Goal table and the Card table...For example if there is two matching rows in the goal table and three matching rows in the card table, I get 5 in both these columns in the resultset.

I know there has to be a way to do this but for some reason I keep getting it wrong. I have one query which pulls all of the cities from a zipcode database like so:
[Code]....
Then I have another which counts the records from a transactions table per city, like so:
[Code]....
Only the zipcode is stored in the transactions table, so the idea here is to get a list off all the distinct cities that reside in the state. Once I have the cities, I want a count for each city as a whole, so I need to go back in and get all of the zipcodes that make up one city, and then count the transactions for those zipcodes. It works using the first query above, looping through them and then executing the second for every pass. But shouldn't there be a way to do it all in one query?
I want to calculate the number of HOLIDAYS between two given dates. For example, to count the number of 'Fridays' and 'Saturdays' and any other holiday (can get from another table) in between two given dates.
For example,
Start Date: 16/07/2010
End Date: 22/07/2010
Holiday: 19/07/2010
OUTPUT: 3 Holidays (Since there are only two Fridays and Saturdays and one Holiday)
do also note that it must include count if the starting day or ending day is a holiday.
How do I translate the following query into LINQ to SQL?
[Code]....
I want to get record count from below example.
I made two tables. One is club_info and another one is club_members.
And each table has data like following
[club_info]
club_id
club_name
:
[club_members]
mem_id
club_id
:
I want to get club_name and the member count for selected club_id and want to return the result as sqldatareader.
i need to create 2 temporary tables.The records inserted into the 2nd table is the same as that from table1.
Now, i am inserting some other records into table 2.what i need is, to retrieve the count of the recently added records into table2.How to achieve this?
i have in my asp.net web-page `label` that contain result of count record query.
i need to see refresh this query and see the correct record count.
how to see it ? i need any timer ? how to do it without Flickers ?
can i get any sample C# asp.net code ?
I'm trying (poorly I might add) to set up a select statement and due to my noobishness I simply have not found a way to do it RIGHT. Then again - I'm probably starting entirely wrong - but I've gotta' learn somewhere.I'm attempting to track product usage (think mild inventory tracking). In the system, I have independent parts and builds (combination of independent parts) - each has its own SQL table. Each time a "build" is completed, I want to update my part inventory with an updated count of that item.
Build_tbl
Build_ID (int/spec)B_nameB_desc
Part_tbl
Part_id (int/spec)P_nameP_cost
Build_asmb_tbl
