DataSource Controls :: Retrieve Total # Of Rows By Using SqlDataSource Calling A SP?
Jan 15, 2010
I am trying to retrieve the number of rows from a stored procedure. I was trying to use @rowCount as an output parameter in my stored procedure but every time I use that SqlDataSource1 won't retrive me any data. Once I removed @rowCount from my SP I get all the data but don't know how to retrieve the Total number of rows :(
I want to retreive some data from an SqlDataSource using it's Selected event I've tried
DataView dv = (DataView)SqlDataSource1.Select(DataSourceSelectArguments.Empty)
but here it's going into in infinite loop and then it gives me an StackOverflowException error in ASP.Net Development Server (my dev machine) and if I publish to IIS it requires me an user name and password to connect to server and gives an InternetExplorer error "Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException. An unknown error ... status code returned was 400. The SqlDataSource is in an UpdatePanel. Maybe this is why I get this.
I have a page in my website where there is very little code-behind. I only have two lines of code in Page_Load() and the rest of the code is declarative ASP.NET code. I have a FormView control which uses a SqlDataSource to get some order information. The SqlDataSource calls a stored procedure called usp_GetOrderDetails, here's the code for the SqlDataSource:
[Code]....
<truncated>
What I want is to grab the screenshotId from the SqlDataSource when the usp_GetOrderDetails stored proc gets called and populate it into a field on the page called screenshotId. I then want to use this screenshotId to get an image from the database based on Id. populating the screenshotId field. How do I do this - do I need to have something like OnDataBound or something like that?
I would like to retrieve all upper rows from a starting row.
First you need do know the structure :
tb_Actions: actionId, prevActionId, nextActionId
If I have 3 actions in the table and that I pass the actionId to a query I would like to reveice all prev actions from the given action.
row a: 1,null,2 row b: 2,1,3 row c: 3,2,null
actionId 3 will return row b and row a, while actionId 2 will return only row a.
how to perform this with SQL ? I could also do a query for each element in C#, but thats maybe overkill to access each time the database if I can do it in one shot.
I have created a GuestBook-like database and what I want to do is to have in a Formview the total number of posts that the authenticated user has submitted. I have added a formview and a slq control but it seems that the query I have built doesn't work. Do you have any clue? the query is like: SELECT COUNT (Trips_Id) AS VIAGGI FROM Trips WHERE UserId@UserId Do you think this query is correct or there is something missing here or something that I need to add in the code behind?
I have a table where each month I need to find the SkipUtgang value of current month (ex: 779) and the value of SkipUtgang in previous month (ex: 788); then Sum the two values; and finally multiply the result with the number of day of current month (ex: 31). as example, I have the below table:
I am using a grid view and a textbox(out of gridview to display the total rows in gridview) , i am doing Paging in GridView , and pageSize is set to 5 ; so far i did this
protected void ExistingMappedGrid_OnRowDataBound(object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e) { totalRowsLabel.Text = "Total " + ExistingMappedGrid.Rows.Count + " records."; } it shows the number of records , but not total ! it shows only the records displaying on the page .
e.g.
if i have a total of 8 records , not page index works and shows 5 rows in gridview and other 3 rows on 2nd page index , but if on first instane page shows 5 records in gridview then textbox shows 5 and when i click on second page index it shows 3 rows ( THAT"S NOT WHAT I CODED AND NOT NEEDED ) i want total rows to be shown
I want to retrieve sqldatasource row from database and if = 1/0 set checkbox to checked or not
I am using the sqldatasource and formview. The sqldatasource is bringing in 1 database item via querystring id
I want to read the row entitled 'IsCharacter' which is either 1 or 0 value. If it is 1 I want the checkbox in my formview to be checked. If it is 0, I want it to not be checked.
I could do this with a dropdownlist with value of 1 or 0 which would be easier for me, however, I don't think it would be as user friendly as a checkbox.
Using C#, how can I check the total number of rows returned from a database when using a Repeater? The reason I need to check is I need to alter the presentation of the data when there is only 1 row returned.
I have a grid view with two columns A and B. Column A has Checkboxes and Column B has numeric values(int). When user checked checkboxes the checked checkboxes column B have to added and displayed in a Label.
Formview with some Accordion block. In the block there are some complex structure, displayed with GridView. (but the GriewView is generated dynamically by input ) For the GridView has some rows, I converted it into a string and stored it in a "Column" (or said "field") of a record.
But when i doing search. I cannot bind the gridview to the "column". because string has to be converted manually into dataset to be accepted by gridview.
I just hope to do the coverting in the "Selected" event and databind the gridview with the data converted.
How to write a delete query which can delete a specific row from grid view? I wrote this :
DeleteCommand="DELETE FROM member" It delete all my entry in table called member. =( <asp:SqlDataSource ID="SqlDataSource1" runat="server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:FYPConnectionString %>" SelectCommand="SELECT * FROM [member]" DeleteCommand="DELETE FROM member"></asp:SqlDataSource>
I have been looking at this article: [URL] However, I have a question: Can't this be used with a sqldatasource, instead of binding the gridview behind? If so, how?
I have one big DataTable with X rows. I want to select Y rows from it and bind them to a new ViewList. While doing it, I want to delete these rows from the DataTable (Having X - Y rows).
What is the best and fast way to do it?
I don't know if it is better to create a new DataTable to have the Y and after that bind them to a ViewList or something else?
I'm also looking for example in code how to select/delete rows from DataTable.
i have two sqldatasource controls. one i use to display data in textbox's ,filter'd by a select parameter in page behind code. Once checked, i want to copy this data to the other datasource ,by selecting checkbox. Then display this data in detailsview control.
At present the two datasource controls declared , render data to the page simultaneously during pageload. I want to first check data in textbox's from first source, before second datasource is rendered to screen. note, both are filtered by a page variable. i wish to leave the textbox datasource control in situ, as other controls and code depend on it.The other detailsview datasource is my problem?
Customers of hours buy packs of hours, these are credited and debited on their account. We have a prepayhours table and that has various columns in it, one credit and one debit. I have written a query using the Query building and SQLDS to total these columns, which is fine. What i really want to do is get that query, or if there is an easier way to add up all the debits and subtract them from the total of credits so you would end up with a + or - totalThen with that i can put it into a label or if there was a way to add a row at the end of my gridview which just said total in one column and the total of the hours in the next.
I have some SQL code which seems to work in SQL 2008 but not in the SQL designer for VWD.
CREATE VIEW dbo.prepayhrstotals AS SELECT COUNT(Debit) AS cntDebit, COUNT(Credit) AS cntCredit FROM prepayhrs GO SELECT (cntdebit - cntcredit) AS totalhours FROM prepayhrstotals
