In following SQL query: SELECT DISTINCT CodeID, CodeDesc FROM Faults.TblFltClearCodes AS TblFltClearCodes
I am getting a list but there is no null value.Within this query I would like to get only one NULL value at the top and then the list. How to do this? Explicitly I am not allowed to give a null value in the table in DB.
I have an SqlDataSource query that should use an input parameter for multiple integer values, like:
select * from table1 where TableID IN (1,2,3,4,5)
select * from table1 where TableID IN (@IDValues)
How do I do that ? Default parameter settings won't work, returning "invalid integer value" . I suppose that parameter should be passed as some kind of array that SQL recognizes as multiple integer values , but what's the correct way of setting this ?
I am using SqlDataSource control that retrieves information based on a city value from another control (textbox) on the page entered by the user.
The query works fine when the user enters a name of a city. However, if I leave the textbox blank and enter nothing, no records are returned by the query.I need all records to be returned when user leave the textbox blank and there is no value of the city. How to do that?is there a default value can do that?
i have two sqldatasource controls. one i use to display data in textbox's ,filter'd by a select parameter in page behind code. Once checked, i want to copy this data to the other datasource ,by selecting checkbox. Then display this data in detailsview control.
At present the two datasource controls declared , render data to the page simultaneously during pageload. I want to first check data in textbox's from first source, before second datasource is rendered to screen. note, both are filtered by a page variable. i wish to leave the textbox datasource control in situ, as other controls and code depend on it.The other detailsview datasource is my problem?
I have a FormView which is bound to an SQLDataSource. When a user clicks on a save button the form, I need to write any changes made to the FormView back to the table.
I have a Stored Procedure on my MSSQL 2005 database that should be executed when the user clicks on the save button.
It appears the Update is firing, but when I trap the DbCommand object in the SQLDataSource's 'Updating' event, all of the parameters that should be passed to the Stored Procedure are coming through as NULLs. Consequently, the Stored Procedure isn't updating anything.
In the click event of the save button I'm explicitly firing the SQLDataSource's Update method:
The parameters in the SQLDataSource <UpdateParameters></UpdateParameters> section appear to be correct.
Can anyone give me an idea on what to investigate to figure out why it appears the Update is only picking up NULLs?
Basically, the user Selects a row on GV that executes an Insert into a table the GV cell values of the selected row.
The SQL field data type is varchar. If the GV field is Null, the Insert adds the value to the SQL field. How do I keep the @nbsp; from being displayed in the cell of a data control when it is called at a later time? Do I add some more asp to my control parameter? do I add some vb code behind? Here are some relevant code snippets of existing code.
I am not able to figure out why I am getting the null error at SqlDataSource10.Insert(); I tried running through break points and i checked the Insert statement and it has all the required values .. but I get error saying it cannot insert null into NrNarrativeDays. I have a SqlDataSource connected to database and use a parametrized query to fetch out data.Query has got a very large varchar field on which i have to perform a search. To make search, i have 2 combobox and a textbox organized in this way
MAIN CATEGORY (combobox)-> CATEGORY TYPE(combobox) -> MODEL(textbox).
Based on main category choose, category type is filled from database. At last, it's added a "nothing" combobox item. Now i should search into big varchar field adding category type condition but, if nothing is specified, i should make identical search like all combobox value are selected. How should i, in your opinion, make this using SqlDataSource?

I dragged and dropped a sqldatasource and want to do an insert statement, taking the new values from a textbox. I did this already however when i do my insert statement eg. INSERT INTO Development_Programme(MHID) VALUES (@m) HOWEVER when to select the insert parameters the 'Next' button and the 'Finish' button is shaded off, I added a Select statement and the 'Next' was unshaded HOWEVER the screen to select the insert parameters is not appearing it goes straight to the Test Query.
I am creating a TableAdapter using corresponding wizard, with a GetDataByID() query. The select statement is like this:select * from books where ID = ?Thus books are filtered by ID. But in case a null is passed as a parameter, I want to select all records rather than none. Could you please tell me how I can do it?
I have a SQLDataSource on an ASP.Net C# page. I want the ability to add a Control Parameter based on a DropDown List that will either display records that are either NULL or Not NULL In a Column. I have the following Code Snippet:
SelectCommand="SELECT [PATID], [LastName], [FirstName], [UIN], [Rate], [Account], [Project], [Supervisor], [HireDate], [Assistantship], [Hourly], [FundingStartDate], [FundingEndDate], [TerminationDate], [Citizenship], [TitleCode], [Email], [Notes], [SupervisorUpdateEnabled], [SupervisorTargetSemesterCode], [PATCertDate] FROM [PATAccounts] WHERE TerminationDate @Terminated ORDER BY [LastName]"
I am using MS SQL2008. I've created a Stored Procedure(SP) with a string parameter. Since I am checking if the parameter is null to replace with a specific value, I am intentially sending a null parameter when necessary.
SELECT .. FROM .. WHERE myField < ISNULL(@myParameter,'specific value')
I've been working on a code that allows users to upload images (jpgs) as an optional field. Alhough the uploading works, I'm struggling when the user doesn't have an image to upload. I can't seem to find the way to NOT insert binary data into my database, I just want an NULL value when there is no image. I get this error message: ...expects parameter @Image, which was not supplied.
