DataSource Controls :: Using A View / To Set A Column As A PK, Or Unique, Within An Already Created View?
Jun 28, 2010
I have a view created that I want to use as my datasource, however to enable to generate insert/update commands it specifies I must have all primary keys selected. Is there a way to set a column as a PK, or unique, within an already created view? And how?
Now I wanted to hide, that is to make some of the columns visible false.
First how can I do that, Second should I write the code in the same page_load event or I should write the code some where else, cause when I add this line of code
It happened to add an extra Gridveiw Header in row_databound event , It did worked fine on !Postback but disappered on Page.Postback . Quick google search guided me to move the event to Row_Created event and every thing is okay .
Can any expert post some pointers , differnces between grid row_created vs row_databount with some sample table data created dynamically behaviour of both the events in !Postback and page.Postback .

I have a stored procedure in my database that sorts a dataset by distance from the specific address input by the user. The distance is created among each individual users query and the sorting of distance occurs within my stored procedure, the distance is not returned in the output. Is there a way I can create a temporary column that returns the distance so that I can give the user an option to sort by distance?

I got this code which bind a datatable to a grid view. After the binding, i wanted to add additional column to the right of the grid, how can I do that? My codes below failed to do it.

I have a GridView that isn't databound until the user clicks a button...
[Code]....
The GridView has one bound column: the employee name. It also has a template field that has an empty asp:Table.
[Code]....
I populate the tblInfo in the RowDataBound event.
[Code]....
The CreateInfoTable(...) method manually creates the rows and columns for the employee. This works, and I can see my dynamically created table; however, after the user submits the form back to the server for PostBack, the rendered page after submission is missing my manually populated table. How can I save my table across PostBacks?
How can i create a hyperlink to Grid view column, when i click this column it should open Word documentnt. Each Column row values does have seperate information.
I have a grid view with a nested text box in it.I would like to turn view state off but the fact of the matter is when data is posted, the text boxes inside the gridview aren't available (there are no rows in the gridview on postback). Control's information is not stored in the View State (for things like selected value and .text etc.):Control state, introduced in ASP.NET version 2.0, is similar to view state but functionally independent of view state. However, control state cannot be disabled. Control state is designed for storing a control's essential data (such as a pager control's page number) that must be available on postback to enable the control to function even when view state has been disabled. I have a grid view with manual sorting. In some cells, the data are numeric and datetime. But due to some constrains, the data type on tables are varchar. The problem here is when I sorting those numeric data, it is treated as varchar.Eg: 1, 12, 13, 2, 23, 3, ...But I wanted the order to be: 1, 2, 3, 12, 13, 23, ...I have tried these method, but it doesnt works.
