I have a grid view with a few columns, for example a column in the grid view contains description of a product. The description might be very long, so i want to display only first 100 characters of the description and then provide a . when we click on the. then the whole description should be displayed.

Basically I need three columns. Column 1 will be populated on page load with a list of user names and some data. Clicking on a user from column 1 will query for data regarding that user and bring back multiple rows to be displayed in Column 2. Clicking on data from a row in column 2 will return rows to be displayed in column 3. I am just curious as to how some of you guys would approach this. Ive looked at grouping templates and some articles regarding listviews with multiple rows but. Would it be easier to use 3 seperate listviews? Any ideas or articles to point me in the right direction?
I m Using DataList Controll for the time being. But i wana use DridView Controll that should display Data Horizontally. Is it Possible? if Yes then How?

This works, and I can see my dynamically created table; however, after the user submits the form back to the server for PostBack, the rendered page after submission is missing my manually populated table. It seems like I may be able to do this with a template but I have been unable to find any examples of exactly how I would do this.

I have a grid view that needs to be shown group wise. The grouping of the data should be dynamic and that is based on the column that is selected.
In general it should list all the rows and based on the coloumn header selected, all the rows should group by that column and should be listed under it. That also needs the template column for the check box and while group by there should be a check all option available for each group.
Even having the collapse and expand option for each groups is required.
I currently use VS 2005 and later will use 2008 and 2010, but will use the aspx code and not xaml.
If i have a page which displays all the data but with only a few fields, then i select one of the data and then i want to be able to view that data with all the fields related to that data on another web page.
I have been able to view the data in Grid view and enable the Select, Update, Insert and Delete. But not able to use the select button to view the information on another web page.
I have a DetailsView for inserting values and currently the columns are center aligned. What I want is to have my "label" right aligned and my "text box/dropdown box" left aligned.

If I change the alignment to left for both, the Insert and Cancel buttons on the bottom of the control also shift to the left, and I'd like them to stay centered.

The grid refreshes itself at a regular interval. I want to disable the link when it is clicked once, so that the user gets to know that row has been processed already and does not click it again, until the grid refreshes itself and the row disappears. I am copying my gridview code below. how to disable the link button on that row as soon as it is clicked.
