im using windows 7 home premium-64 bit,when i want to install sql server its not asking for mixed mode its directly creating windows authentication mode but i want to use sql server authentication mode,when im installing im unable to see any mode selection?

View 3 RepliesI had a problem login management studio (Sql server 2005) using windows authentication because it doesn't show me any server name to connect and if I put my computer name and user name (my-PCpatel) login was failed.
So, I decided to uninstall it and install it again using mixed mode authentication. After installation I select sql server authentication instead of windows authentication and put login name as "sa" and password that I had put it during installation. But the connect button is dark gray(the way I can not select it or press it on) while the other button (cancel, help, option) can be selected or pressed.So, why am i not able select or click on connect button?
I wanted my local iis running application to connect my database in sql authentication mode rather than windows mode,

I have just installed SQL Server 2005. I selected windows mode authentication. I am not able to login in management studion. Now, I want to use mixed and server authentication option inplace of windows authentication. so, would that be possible after installation.
View 2 Repliesi am trying to install SQL Server R2 on my windows 2003 server (I downloaded the x64 version) but on the installation directory, just before i click next, to get the error, the path is as follows: C:ProgramFiles(x86)Microsoft Sql Server im not too sure if thats the problem though, just guessing, since i dont know anyother problem, and its a new server. I also tried multiple server restarts and still got the same error.

This happens every few months and the only way to fix it to recycle the application pool.This issue is actually happening with a hosting company and my site is on a shared server. I believe I have my own application pool and I'm able to recycle it myself using their web administration tools. Fortunately, I know how to fix and have the ability to do it myself but it is embarrassing when my site now longer works and I have a client email there is a problem. I'm running .NET 3.5 with latest SP.

I just downloaded and installled the Microsoft Windows Azure SDK yesterday for the first time and I am having issues running the application as I all I am getting is 503 errors. I run Windows Server 2008 R2 on my development machine and even tested it on another co-workers 2008 R2 and couldn't even compile the application. He got this error instead "A problem occurred while trying to set the "References" parameter for the IDE's in-process compiler. Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component."
From within my Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V Virtual Windows 7 x86 enviroment, I was able to successfully build and run the Windows Azure SDK and it even showed the base ASP.NET application.So my question is, does the Windows Azure SDK for Visual Studio 2010 w/ Visual Studio 2010 SP 1 installed not work under Microsoft Server 2008 R2?
Just to describe the scenario. I have a website. This lives on a webserver. On that webserver is an SQL server. The website connects to this database using windows authentication. I have written a windows form application that connects to the SQL Server on the webserver. This application is being run from a location on out intranet. The Winform application use SQL authentication to connect to the database. The SQL Server didn't have mix mode authentication enabled. So I enabled it. The winform application could now connect to the SQL Server.
This is where it starts getting a little strange.
The Website that was already connecting find using integrated authentication starts failing with:
Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITYNETWORK SERVICE'
When you are enabling mixed mode authentication, you are adding another authentication method, why would the original Windows authentication fail?
I am getting this error when trying to connect a database from another computer in my home network:

I have a major problem. I have windows 2003 serverm in it I have installed sqlserver and on it several databases that was published for months. Now, the windows 2003 server crashed and I cannot login ti windows anymore. What I have done is to create a new installation of windows and installed again the sqlserver...
Now, how do I get back the latest database from the previous corupted installation? I still have access to the files in the previous installation.
I am working on the migration of the server. Our new server is Windows server 2008 with IIS7.0 I have a great difficulty in browsing the pages hosted in virtual directories. I have followed the proper steps of creating a virtual directories and converting them into applications. But when i try to browsing the pages of the virtual directory, i get the 404 error. Note: The .Net Framework 4.0 is installed on the server and the web applications which i am trying to configure in the virtual directories are developed in Visual Studio 3.0. Even the http://localhost also don't work.

View 4 RepliesI am having trouble installing SQL Server on my system ... it appears to install ok but when I try to connect it using Visual Web Developer Express 2008 it will not connect and mentions something about versions. I downloaded the Northwind database to carry on with the tutorials .. this also asked me to download the MS SQL 2000 version which I tried and this also did not work, other versions include 2005 and 2008. When I tried to open the program through the programs file from "Start Menu" only the configuration manager folder is there.
I have also tried to install the trial version from the website but to no avail. Each time I have restored to factory settings on my laptop and it still fails to connect. I notice that when I restore to factory settings there are loads of icons where the uninstall window lists all of the programs and there is still SQL Server 2008, lots of Icons. I think that version 2008 came with the laptop as it is a business sony vaio sr vgn-sr46gd model with vista business.

I have 2 machines on a domain. The first machine has IIS 6. 0 inatalled on it, whereas the second machine has published web content.
On the local machine ie. Web server i have configured the website like "A Share located on another computer" Eg: //Machine2/Application1. The pubished web content is inside a shared folder on the remote machine. Finally when i run the application in browser(IE 7.0) i get the following error.

I am unable to install .net framework 3.5 sp1 on windows server 2003 r2 datacenter x64 sp2 edition.
Are there any bugs or known issues regarding this matter?
FrameWork 2.0 +sp2 and framework 3.0 are already installed.
We are trying to install VWD 2010 on a windows 2008 server. We already have installed the 2008 version as well as SQL 2005, 2008 and 2008 R2. The Web Platform installer is not installing VWD 2010 however.At first it notified us that the OS does not allow it, after running tons of updates on the OS (some of which failed) it is still not doing it, not even donwloading it. The latest message simply asked us to post the error on the forum
View 1 RepliesWe have a cient we are stting up that has 2 separate physical servers, one that is the web server the other the database server. Using impersonation we have been able to get the website to connect and retrieve data from the sql server so that part is not an issue. The problem is I have a windows service application that must be installed on the web server (as it process files downloaded to an ftp site) and it must be able to connect and write to the sql server as well.We tried adding a system.web block with the impersonation stuff to the app.config file which of course did not work. Can anyone tell me what/how we need to configure this properly?
View 7 RepliesI've encountered a problem while installing Visual Studio 2010 on Windows 7, I've tried to modify the privileges of the destination folders to no avail, I've also tried to delete everything related to it with a removal tool. The problem is that the installation is always unsuccessful at the same point, providing me a Blue Screen of Death (twice) and the following error message (infinite amount of occasions):

Does anybody know the cause of the error? Is there an easier and less time consuming solution than reinstalling the whole system?
I have a web application set up on our intranet that uses windows authentication (successfully) that I am trying to link to a database running on a separate server.
The problem that I am having however, is that when I try to use a trusted connection to log in to the sql server, instead of passing the domain/username of the person using the website the application is passing NT AUTHORITYANONYMOUS LOGON.
I checked that the authentication was working by having the website display a greeting that does identify my username correctly when I log on to the site, so it isn't an anonymous access issue. I think it is an impersonation issue somehow despite the fact that set in the web.config file for the application.
Curiously, the web application works fine when I run it on either my dev machine or even locally through remote desktop on the production server. I'm not sure what's going on here.
Finally, I'm running iis 7.5, windows server 2008 r2 and sql server 2008
to connect the MS Sql server 2008 using windows authentication in ASP.Net 4.0 without change IIS user (ASPNet) permission.
