I am getting ready to move my 1st website to iis on WinServ 2008.
I am reading ASP.net 3.5 book and says that iis doesnt ship with .net framework 3.5 How do i find out if 3.5 is installed and if not how do i install?
I tried to install VS 2008 on my different systems already having Framework 2 installed, it failed to install. I tried it may a times even on different systems. It runsbut after Serial No. and next i see error .net framework 3.5 installation failed and there down a list of all componetns it shown which have not been attempted. I am going to devlpe the software and without t i can;t do anything..

on SQL Server installation Center and I have "New Installation or add features to an existing installation" and the problem is when I click on this option installer prompts me to "Browse For SQL Server 2008 R2 Installation Media" As I mentioned I download the web platform from Microsoft/WebMatrix web page and I have not any installation media!
I am unable to install .net framework 3.5 sp1 on windows server 2003 r2 datacenter x64 sp2 edition.
Are there any bugs or known issues regarding this matter?
FrameWork 2.0 +sp2 and framework 3.0 are already installed.
After i finished installing visual stuido 2008 it said SQL sever 2005 express returned an unexpected value, it looks like it didn't install properly
In the folder SQL 2005 express edition there is a folder called configuration tools with has 3 applications, is this normal?
There is no other folder under SQL 2005. I tried to re-install it and the same thing happened
Installed SQL Server Express 2008 R2 on a Windows 7 64 bit machine. I cannot get the server agent or the browser to start. The start is grayed out. How do I need to configure SQL Server so I can get these running?

This I have done several times with the final message saying successfully installed yet 'About' shows only

I just downloaded and installled the Microsoft Windows Azure SDK yesterday for the first time and I am having issues running the application as I all I am getting is 503 errors. I run Windows Server 2008 R2 on my development machine and even tested it on another co-workers 2008 R2 and couldn't even compile the application. He got this error instead "A problem occurred while trying to set the "References" parameter for the IDE's in-process compiler. Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component."
From within my Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V Virtual Windows 7 x86 enviroment, I was able to successfully build and run the Windows Azure SDK and it even showed the base ASP.NET application.So my question is, does the Windows Azure SDK for Visual Studio 2010 w/ Visual Studio 2010 SP 1 installed not work under Microsoft Server 2008 R2?
Currently I'm in the process of deploying my ASP.net MVC 2 project on a Windows Server 2008 R2 web server. This web server already has the .net 4 Framework installed, but doesn't have any MVC dll's in the GAC.
So deployment on IIS succeeds, but when I start up the web application in the browser, it results in this message:
Could not load file or assembly 'System.Web.Mvc, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
Of course I can Google myself too and it mainly:
Copying the MVC dll's (System.Web.Mvc.dll, .Routing.dll, etc) to the output directory;
Downloading an RTM version of ASP.net MVC 2 on top of .net 3.5 Framework. Neither of them I'd like to do. I just want to install ASP.net MVC 2 to the GAC of my web server. So my question is:
Which installation does actually contain ASP.net MVC 2 for installation on top of .net 4?
I am looking at developing using Visual Studio 2010/2008 and SQL Server 2008 on Windows 7. Should I be able to do this on Windows 7 Professional, or do you need Windows 7 Ultimate?

View 3 RepliesI am working on the migration of the server. Our new server is Windows server 2008 with IIS7.0 I have a great difficulty in browsing the pages hosted in virtual directories. I have followed the proper steps of creating a virtual directories and converting them into applications. But when i try to browsing the pages of the virtual directory, i get the 404 error. Note: The .Net Framework 4.0 is installed on the server and the web applications which i am trying to configure in the virtual directories are developed in Visual Studio 3.0. Even the http://localhost also don't work.

View 5 RepliesWe are trying to install VWD 2010 on a windows 2008 server. We already have installed the 2008 version as well as SQL 2005, 2008 and 2008 R2. The Web Platform installer is not installing VWD 2010 however.At first it notified us that the OS does not allow it, after running tons of updates on the OS (some of which failed) it is still not doing it, not even donwloading it. The latest message simply asked us to post the error on the forum

Ive recently got a new development machine with windows 7 64 bit. On loading up a website and opening default.aspx, the whole ide just freezes. Nothing responds, I have to shut it down from the task manager. This happens every time (ive tried it 4 times so far)The site was fine on my old machine (windows xp 32 bit) are there any compatibility issues with windows 7 64 bit and vs 2008 ?
View 7 RepliesI have just transfered my site to a new dedicated server. I have a asp.net 2 using VS 2005 and i have uploaded the site to the server but when i try to run the printing using the crystal reports it only displays a blank page.The server(win 2003) have the default installed softwares:
- IIS 6
- SQL Server 2008
- .Net Frameworks 2,3,3.5,4
- Visual Studio Tools for Application 2.0 - ENU
I have installed the Crystal Reports for .Net Framework 2.0 Runtime but still it doesn't work.I just want to ask if what are the necessary softwares to install in the server to run the Crystal reports?
