View 2 RepliesNot sure how to best accomplish this task. I do have several reports to make in Excel every day. The reports do have a shhet for every week and one column for each day in week. What is the best way to get the excel auto update and get data from the SQL table? As for now I run a query on a webpage and coying the data in to the excel sheet manually. Should I try making a database connection within the excel sheet? Should I try having a ADO connection working in .NET? I really donīt know where to begin.
View 2 RepliesI've got a Varchar2 field in my table which I want to convert to a CLOB. I am unsure whether the data would get truncated when selected. If so, what is the limit and does it depend on the database settings?
In my TOAD or SQLPLUS window it gets truncated but this may just be the environment settings. I'm not sure whether it would get truncated in my actual application (I can test this, but up to what size should I test?)
If it does get truncated, what's the best way to display the whole CLOB? There are other fields in my SELECT query, so I think I can't just loop through multiple rows. Is there any way out?
i want to export multiple tables in a dataset to excel workbook with each tables as sheets without using COM Interop or Excel Object.
View 2 RepliesIs there a way to import an amount of data from an excel sheet using the sheet rowindex, something like: SELECT * FROM [PLAN1$] WHERE ROWINDEX BETWEEN 1 AND 1000?

View 1 RepliesI am a biggner in SQL DB . but i started a complicated and painfull work in SQL SERVER 2008. the problem convert Oracle hierarchical query to SQL query. the query
SELECT DISTINCT
LEVEL LVL,
SCH.NSCHEDULE_SL,
SCH.NSCHEDULE_SL_FM,
SCH.CSHED_CNAME
FROM FA_SCHEDULES SCH
WHERE LEVEL = 1
AND NSCHEDULE_SL_FM IS NULL
AND NBRANCH_SL = 2
CONNECT BY PRIOR SCH.NSCHEDULE_SL_FM = SCH.NSCHEDULE_SL
AND NBRANCH_SL = 2
I'm converting my application from using System.Data.OracleClient to Oracle.DataAccess.Client and I've noticed some weird behavior.
I am calling a stored procedure that sets an output parameter value. Under some circumstances, a null value gets assigned to this value and I need to detect it.
Here's how I'm declaring it using ODP.net:
cmd.Parameters.Add("p_status", OracleDbType.VarChar2, 200, DBNull.Value, ParameterDirection.Output)
The old Microsoft driver for Oracle would read the value as an empty string. However, ODP is returning a value {null} (per Visual Studio's debugger), which is not equivalent to null, DBNull.Value, nor an empty string. As a result, the code doesn't branch correctly now.
I want to have a helper class that can serve requests from multiple pages to output contents of any gridview to excel. But if I pass in the GridView it throws an error that it must be inside "form runat='server'" tags, which makes sense. However is there anyway to do this in a seperate class that is not directly connected to any particular page?

I have an ASP.NET website in which I have to perform a certain operation. I have to displaying the ID's from the DB on menu.aspx page in this format {1:2:3:4}. The above format is not a problem and can be just be written with
[code]....
Note that I am saying that user will type this URL. I know that query string can pass the values from one form to another but this is a single web form and if I attach this ?search=yes, it should return the result. How can this be done?
i query a database for retreiving all the columns. I will probably have many rows. Im trying to output the query results into an html table. This is what i have so far:
[code]....
How could i store the many rows and output them using html as soon as i open a page?
I plan to use output cache for my page and also specify sql dependencyi succeded in doing it the following way
[Code]....
Suppose if i want to implement a dependency on the sql query , i create an sqlcache dependency object and specify the sql command to it.Set the notifications .But how do i add this sqldependency to the output cache?For example: if i need to add a file dependency, i give something like Response.AddFileDependency ("filepath"); is there any similiar command available for sqldependency as well? I'm confused about this because, most of the examples i've looked into, does a cache.insert , which defeats my purpose as it's object caching and not output caching. In a nutshell, is it possible to attach a sqlcachedependency to o/p cache inside the controller action

the Web Part for anonymous user and authenticated user is displayed differently. I faced this problem twise. First time when used Silverlight control in the Web Part and second time when used devexpress control in the Web Part. In both cases problem was with displaying for anonymous user. Silverlight control didn't display. Devexpress control lost it's styles. Both controls had properties that pointed to files. Silverlight control property pointed to the XAP file, and Devexpress control property pointed to the CSS file. It seems to me, that for anonymous user the Web Part cannot find this path or doesn't allow to link to other files.
View 1 RepliesI am trying to clean up some application work. I have this query application that creates a report that is displayed in a gridview in a new window. If the records have further information the gridview displays a field containing a URL (which is generated in SQL) to open an edit form allowing the user to view and edit the selected record. The URL looks something like this:
Code:
<a href="SanMhInspReport.aspx?MHID=92Edit" target="_blank"><u>Report</u></a>
All is well untill I go to close the edit form, which is when I get this:I know this has something to do with opening and closing windows server/client side.
how to get sql query output in text file?
View 1 RepliesIn my database when anyone registers - By default the registration time is saved as UTC universal time zone.
But i want to display everything on the website in (GMT-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada)
I am using this SQL QUERY to display registration date:
SELECT TOP (5) Username, CustomerID, RegistrationDate = CONVERT(VARCHAR(12),RegistrationDate,107) FROM Customer ORDER BY RegistrationDate DESC
And, i am displaying it like this:
<asp:Label ID="nameLabeldate" runat="server" Text='<%# Eval("RegistrationDate") %>' />
The problem is the output is getting displayed as : 10/20/2010 1:36:01 PM
I know RegistrationDate is datetime stamp that's why i am getting output in this format.
But i want to display RegistrationDate as: Oct 20, 2010 at 1:36pm -> according to (GMT-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada) ORDER BY RegistrationDate in Desc (top most will be last registered user)
I'm trying to export data from an asp.net page to an Excel file and I'm basically just outputting HTML to the XLS file and let Excel interprets it, by using this type of coding:
[Code]....
Although this is doing fine for exporting raw text, I now have to export to the same Excel file an image. However, the same kind of method I'm using right now only seems to insert a "linked" image, I mean, the image appears in the file, however, the user viewing the file has to be online since it's a direct link to the file in the server. I would like to able to "embeded" the image in the file, just like how it's made when you insert manually an image using Excel.
However, after some online research I can't seem to find any solution for this.
I can't use Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel library, and a third party software isn't advisable also, that's what made me try out the HTML output solution, which worked ok for the text. But now, for inserting an image, what can I do? Is it possible to achieve what I pretend?
I have a sql table like this-
Sno part_no desc supplier currency price
1 10245890 abc abc electricals INR 0.320000
2 10245890 abc abc electricals INR 0.560000
3 10245890 abc def electricals USD 0.780000
4 10345780 def xyz electricals YEN 0.345678
5 10345780 def pqr electricals USD 0.000678
Now whenever user input the part_no output should be displayed like this- foe eg.. if user input 10245890, the ouput should be like this-
Sno part_no supplier1 currency1 price1 supplier2 currency2 price2 supplier3 currency3 price3
Means vertical records for particular part_no should be horizontally displayed in a single row. How can i write a sql query to achieve this?
I have a dynamic gridview which can be used to add new rows of two columns to specify a start date and an end date. I am trying to use a string collection to pass in the output from the textboxes to a parameterized query as shows. I am getting an incorrect syntax near 9 error. How can I make this work? I need to use the stringbuilder.
protected void btnSaveIterations_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
int rowIndex = 0;
StringCollection sc = new StringCollection();
if (ViewState["CurrentTable"] != null)
{
DataTable dtCurrentTable = (DataTable)ViewState["CurrentTable"];
if (dtCurrentTable.Rows.Count > 0)
{
for (int i = 1; i <= dtCurrentTable.Rows.Count; i++)
{
//extract the TextBox values
TextBox box1 = (TextBox)Gridview1.Rows[rowIndex].Cells[1].FindControl("start_iteration");
TextBox box2 = (TextBox)Gridview1.Rows[rowIndex].Cells[2].FindControl("end_iteration");
start_date = box1.Text;
end_date = box2.Text;...............
If I have an upload control that uploads mp3's to a file on my server and stores user specific information of the uploader in my SQL database, is it possible to output the songs in the mp3 folder to an XML query string or xml file through SQL server management studio?

Well I'm not familiar with SP's yet, and I can't find a single example of what I want to do. basically I want to retrieve the town & county where the customers id are equal (note there will only ever be 1 result)
I can't figure out how to address the results to be stored within the output variables.
