View 3 RepliesI am using asp.net sitemap with the in-built asp.net menu but this is very 'dull'. I want to apply CSS and jQuery to give it a better visual look and feel. I have read various articles based on [URL] However, i really liked [URL]
Is there any examples or tutorials similar to this which are FREE?
Well as the title says I am a total noob to web programming. I have experience in XHTML and CSS and that is it, and it is time to expand my knowledge and start making much better websites
I have a project to completely rewrite the site [URL] and want to do it in ASP.NET rather then PHP, and since I do not know either language I would rather learn this one instead.
My question is simple, where do I start? I learn well by reading books and doing examples and building example websites, that sort of stuff. Can anyone suggest any good book titles that will get me started in the right direction? A friend sent me the PDF version of the book: "Learning ASP.NET 3.5, 2nd Edition (Build web applications with ASP.NET 3.5, AJAX, Linq and MORE)." This is so far the only resource I have. The only thing about that book is that it promotes using the WYSIWYG style of web design and I
have always been tought to stay away from that.
i decided that asp.net is the one for me. But i dont know any of .net languages. My teacher recommended c# but i dont nedd to learn c# completely but only basics with asp.net. Is there any book or website that teaches c# specifically for asp.net
View 1 RepliesI'm very new at this ...where i can find some step by step videos on Databinding Checkboxes?
View 2 RepliesOk, so since my last post I've tested the Gridview and DataView controls and it appears as though those would work a little better. However, I'm having difficultly implementing the "Edit mode" on those controls to allow the user to edit the data. I can't really seem to find a "step by step" example of of how to do it.
View 10 RepliesAutoComplete is an ASP.NET AJAX extender that can be attached to any TextBox control, and will associate that control with a popup panel to display words that begin with the prefix typed into the textbox.
View 1 RepliesI am using a wizard with 2 steps: Step 1: I enter some values in few textboxes, which in turn are stored in some hidden variables Step 2: There are some more textboxes including the texboxes in step 1 Example: in step 1 there are two textboxes Customer Name & Email ID In step 2 there are two more texboxes Customer Name, Email ID, Company Name and Age Now the values in step 1 are stored in 2 hidden variables lblCustomerName and lblEmailId respectively. Now how do I automatically populate these two fields which are already entered in step 1, in the textboxes present in step 2, is my question?
View 1 RepliesWould it be possible to creae a web form that will take an Excel sheet of email address or SQL Server Database and mass email to these people through a web form? If so, does anyone have or know some step by step instruction on how to do this?

View 1 RepliesI have created a User Control with 2 Textboxes and a Button. Then I have built that control into my Master Page. I have also created the code easily enough for the login - see below;
[Code]....
However, I have a problem. I want to do the following;
1. Let them Login
2. Let them Logout
3. And I want to try and use this code into a Global Variable
What is the easiest way possible to do this, as I do NOT want to use the Asp.Net Login facilities already provided.

View 3 RepliesI have a stored procedure being executed from an ASP.NET application. Is it possible to attach to the procedure and step through it using SQL Server 2005?
Note, in this instance, I am not using a DataAdapter. I'm going in blind. The connection string is being created on the fly, so I don't have access to the schema from the Visual Studio 2005 designer.
I was hoping for a solution similar, for example, to how you attach to a process on a remote server and when a break point is hit, the debugger fires.
I am making a functionality where I can drag and drop outlook email from Inbox to my C#.NET application. I have this function:
emailItem = ExchangeWebServiceWrapper.EWSWrap.GetEmailFromInternetMessageID(serviceBinding, Request.Form[
"txtImportMessageID"].ToString());
It is working fine. Values of both serviceBinding ad txtImportMessageID are seen while debugging and emailItem gets populated.
When I drag and drop an outlook email from some other custom folder, while debugging through the above function, emailItem is null and i get this error : 'Unable to automatically step into the server machine failed. The Microsoft Visual Studio Remote Debugging Monitor (MSVSMON.EXE) does not appear to be running on the remote computer.
I have a VB.NET VS2010 solution with a WinForms project that calls a web site project in the same solution. I can step into this web method: <WebMethod()> Public Function GetStartUpData() As DataSet and other web methods, but not the following method. I wonder if it has to do with the fact that that is the only web method that uses a parameter of Nullable type. The method works, I just can't step into it .If I try, I get the error: Unable to automatically step into server. unable to determine a stopping location
<WebMethod()>
Public Function RetrieveOrdersByFilter( _
ByVal customerId As Nullable(Of Integer), _
ByVal fromDate As Nullable(Of Date), _
ByVal toDate As Nullable(Of Date), _
ByVal fromStatusCodeId As Nullable(Of Integer), _
ByVal toStatusCodeId As Nullable(Of Integer)) As DataSet
I'm trying to use a server control inside a template wizard step, when I drop such server control in the first step of the wizard everything goes ok. When I insert even a blank step previous to the step which contains the server control, the javasript code of the server control is not rendered at all, the page doesn't fail during load but until I go with mouse over an item of the grid for instance.When I check the rendered HTML I can see no HTML, nor javascript events of this server control where rendered, neither the implementation nor calls to javascript, but even rarer what is there visible in the grid for ie, even the other components of the server control, are not in the "view source code" content. I seems it was sent to the client, even showed, but truncated in some phase..The server control consists of a gridview with custom navigation&information capabilities and javascript functions to highlight the selected grid items or highlight when mouse over event occurs.. (full tested outside asp:wizard)

perfectly fine)
Contain function fails for a string like 3 step, @ fire etc which has single characters followed by space.

I have a "Contact Us" page where in users will give in their email id and a query and on submitting the form, web admin would receive that email.
If I configure their email id to "from" MailAddress and send the mail, it will fail to do so if the ID is from popular mail domains like gmail or hotmail but would work with other unpopular or non existent domains like me@abcxyzmail.om without any credentials provided!
It worked with gmail after I configured SMTP and network credentials properly. The aim is to let the admin of my website who receives the email be able to hit the reply button in his mail client and see the "to" field populated with the "from" field filled in "contact us" page. Is there any proper way to do this or a tip or trick to accomplish it.

I am using ASP.NET membership in a web application.
I have the following code in a usercontrol:
[Code]....
For some reason after clicking "create user" and the postback happens, the user gets returned to the registration page instead of going to the complete page. I have tried everything. Been toying around with all kinds of settings for half a day now.
I'm currently intigrating with the SagePay merchant gateway and I'm come accross a little problem. I have a reg form that gets all the information I need to send to SagePay together. To split the reg form up into manageable chunks I've used an asp:Wizard control. So, In the final step of my wizard control I need to post the values off to sage. It's quite frustrating that I can't just substitute inishDestinationPageUrl="" for something like FinishDestinationPostBackUrl="" because that's what I need to do and would rather expect it to be that easy.
