I have a user control with linkbuttons (used for paging) and a repeater inside an update panel. The paging works correctly, but is causing a full page postback every time I click through to the next page.
The update panel looks like this:
[code]....
So far, I have tried adding an async postback trigger for the user control, which does cause an async postback but does not update the rest of the text in the update panel. In otherwords, the async postback occurs and the next page shows up, but the original text in the repeater is there as well just below it.
I have also confirmed that I have IDS set on my linkbuttons, since that can trigger a full postback inside an update panel.
I have tried changing the update panel mode (Always, Conditional, ChildrenAsTriggers, etc.).
None of it makes a difference - the only thing that actually causes an async postback is to use the trigger, but then the rest of the content in the update panel is not updated, so I get duplicate content.
Below is the sample code on using the update panel. The page just has a button and a label. On button click it updates the label with the server time. Though the label is inside the update panel the page goes for a complete postback. in understanding why it is behaving like that. I tried the options of Updatemode, using different script references nothing seems working for this simple application.
Dim iCounter as Integer Dim iQuantity as Integer = 10 Protected Sub btnFoo_Click Handles btnFoo Yadda For i as Integer = iCounter to iQuantity - 1 //do something with AsyncPostBackTrigger until iCounter = iQuantity - 1 //then trigger a full postback Next End Sub
I am new to the concept and feel like there must be something really easy that I am missing.
I am having an issue with an update panel, which is still causing the entire page to postback.
I have made sure i have all the correct bits in the web.config, section groups, httphandlers, httpmodules, additonal assemly etc... but it still does not work. I have got it to work in a way, which is why i think i have the config right, because if i take the search panel of and place it outwith the update panel, the go button only postsback the rest of the page not what is inside the updatepanel.
I am using a master page, but the update panel only appears in the content page, within the content tags.
How do I conditionally trigger a full page postback from a link button inside of an update panel?
I have a custom control that contains its own updatepanel with a link button nested inside of it. When the link button is pressed I want its event handler to have the option of either letting the control update as normal or doing a full postback on the page.
Here is the control hierarchy:
Page Custom Control UpdatePanel LinkButton
Event handler Pseudo code:
LinkButton Click Handler Begin If is a partial post back AND a full postback is needed Page.DoFullPostback End If End Handler
Note: I aways need the partial postback to happen. I was considering injecting a __DoPostback in the controls markup but this seems hacky to me.
I have a ASP.NET AJAX Autocomplete Textbox and Two other dropdownlist in a Update Panel. On selection of an item in Autocomplete Textbox, I want to populate Dropdown list from Database.
I have a link button inside a template field of a gridview. The gridview is wrapped in an update panel. I want the link button to fire an async postback but it always fires a full postback. Why is this?
This is a similar problem to the one described in the link below. However, I have tried doing a RegisterAsyncPostbackControl in the gridview databound, but this did not work.
I am having issue with my ModalPopUpExtender's OKControlID. I have a button inside an update panel that should do AsyncPostBack. The button works fine and runs server side code but it causes full page postback. How do I solve this issue? I want the 'OK' button inside the modalpopup to call the serverside code and update Label control 'label3' without causing the page flash. Given below is my code;
MarkUp:
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" > <head id="Head1" runat="server"> <title>Next Gen Web Browser</title> <script src="http://ajax.microsoft.com/ajax/jquery/jquery-1.3.2.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
I have put several buttons and panels in my update panel. I also have a script manager on that page. now when I click on any of the buttons then the functionality is working fine but problem is that the complete page gets reloaded witha a flick, instead of updating the update panel only. I have set the "children as trigger" property of update panel "true".
In my default.aspx page I have a PlaceHolder control within an UpdatePanel. In this placeholder control I will dynamically load a web user control, which is just a form with a submit button. On this user control, I have the form within an update panel and I have the "Submit" button's Click Event added to the triggers.
When I submit the form, the UpdatePanel on the web user control nor the update panel on the default.aspx page are capturing the post back, thus causing a full post back which refreshes my page.
how to capture this post so its rendered in Ajax and not a full post back?
I have a gridview which has a checkbox column which are set to automatically postback. When a checkbox is clicked, a partial postback occurs, and the associated record is displayed to the user (this is the required function). My problem is regarding when a user clicks a number of checkboxes in quick succession. I have got ajax request queuing working fine, so each checkbox postback is eventually dealt with. However as the gridview also postsback, it resets its viewstate on which boxes are checked, removing some of the boxes which the user may have checked.I've attempted to take off the viewstate on the gridview which seems to achieve nothing, neither does placing the gridview in a separate update panel.
I have a dropdown list where the user can select a name, on change event populates a Session variable and at the same time populates a formview with the full record detail. I want to add a List Item that states "Select Name" but when I add this the page errors. Input string was not in a correct format.
Description:
An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details:
System.FormatException: Input string was not in a correct format.
Because the value returned from the dropdown list box is a string and not a numeric equal to the first name in the list.
AppendDataBoundItems is = true AutoPostBack is = true
because I want to update the page as a differnent name is selected. I guess I need to not load the form until an actual first name is selected. Uncertain how to prevent the Formview from loading at page load an until a name is selected and not when the dropdown is set back to "Select Name"
I have a modalpopupextender and I want to be able to update the information without causing a postback and having to re-show the modal, normally I use an updatepanel and this is working in most cases but I have an issue with a repeater where the ItemCommand has been set but clicking the button does not fire anything, unless I set the repeater as a trigger but this then does postback and I lose where I am. Not the usability I want to provide.
I have a page with several panels. panel1 has a drop down list to select client. panel2 has two drop down lists to select facility1 and facility2. I want panel 2 to be disabled (both facility1 and facility2 drop downs disabled) until a selection has been made in panel1 drop down list. when a client is selected from dropdownlist1, I want to enable both dropdown list2 and 3 in panel2.
When an asynchronous postback happened inside update panel, another postback happens also for MasterPagenot only update panel embedded page .I want to prevent this MasterPage postback . is this possible ?think like i have a MasterPage and another page which is test.aspx which is content page of MasterPagei have update panel at test.aspxwhen asynchronous postback happens at this test.aspx update panel it also loads MasterPage Page_Loadi want to prevent this (it should not also load MasterPage Page_Load)
I'm manually triggering an update panel refresh using javascript (long story- but it has to be this way), but I still see a page flicker outside of the update panel, so I'm concerned that the whole page is getting refreshed rather than the update panel. Any way I can determine this? Perhaps some value in the code-behind on the postback? Or some client side trick? If the jQuery $(document).ready() event fires, does that mean the whole document is refreshing or just the update panel?
I have a Cascading drop down list that is working fine to load the correct lists however I would like to have the last one initiate a query and display a datagrid on the same page containing the results of the query. Without Ajax involved this seems rather easy by using autopostback on the drop downs. If I could do it through Ajax that would be great but I can settle with having the page to reload to display the data. Right now I'm not sure how to do either. I enabled autopostback on the last drop down and wrote a method for it but I get an error at runtime saying:
I have the following scenario. I have a page that hosts several user controls. The user controls are all surrounded by a single update panel. All user controls have a save button on them. When the save buttons are clicked the page updates the update panel as expected. Some of the user controls contain editable list views. Whenever an action is taken on these list views, the Update Panel is NOT refreshed, but the whole page posts back. How can I get these ListViews to also refresh the Update Panel? I cannot post the code because of NDA. There are no javascript errors on the page reported by either IE8 or Chrome.
when postback occurs due to update panel's child control then in page load event how can i know that it was dut to update panel ?i.e., i want to differentiate between general postback and postback due to update panel's child control in page load event .How is that possible ?
Is there any solution to update asp.net gridview without postback and withput update panel? or update partial page without update panel? for example with jquery.
The subject is explanatory, but here are some details:
I want to update a repeater when SelectedIndex value changes for a dropdown list. The problem is Nothing happens.
My aspx page is present in a nested master page. and neither autopostback works nor update panel. i have set the AsyncPostBack trigger on SelectedIndexChange event.
Please let me know what am i doing wrong or what am i missing.
PS: I have never worked on ajax before so I might have overlooked something.
