I'm looking at some site code on an XHTML doctype and from what I'm seeing the framework is ASP.net. The IDs in the HTML has a "$" in there. For example:
From a W3C semantic point of view the "$" is not valid in an ID or Class. IDs and classes can only contain alpha numeric characters in an XHTML doctype.
Is the the "$" a ASP.net naming convention referencing a web control or template item?
I'm trying to read an html but it's only reading the first 1169 characters? And when I open the source code it's huge! here is the html I'm trying to read http://mesowest.utah.edu/cgi-bin/dro...graph=0&past=0. If i enter in another website it reads 23,000 characters.

I am reading names from a file, some of them have special spanish characters like this: ñ
My end goal is to replace the special characters, however when I read the names into a string and then put a breakpoint and run my program in debug to see what I'm reading in my watch window shows a square in place of the special characters as if it's having problems reading the special characters.
EX:Muñoz from the file
is displayed
Muoz in my vb.net string
what I need to do so that my vb.net code and correctly read the special characters?
I have a string that came from an old database of unknown character encoding. I am having trouble encoding/filtering the string to show the correct text. What the data looks like in the database: Marronnière à quatre pansWhat we need the string to show up as: Marronnière à quatre pansSpecifically, I am having trouble parsing the string so I can display the character à (à)This is an asp.Net 2.0 site written in VB using a Sql Server 2005 Database. Not sure if it matters, but data comes from a column with this collation: SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_ASI've tried encoding the string to various encodings in the code to no avail. I've also passed the string (encoded different ways) into a byte array to find a unique byte pattern for the bad characters without success.
I have a feedback page with rating controls and I use a stored procedure to insert the record using C#
I get an error when I try to insert about conversion.
[Code]....
I have 20 ratings and a textbox I think the error is with the last parameter @Overall
it displays on the page as 4.9 in a label control, it is previously calculated in the Calculate_Ratings(), and it is declared as a decimal, I have also tried it declared as double. My column is declared decimal(1,1) in sqlDatabase
The Error says
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Error converting data type numeric to decimal. at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, Boolean breakConnection) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlInternalConnection.OnError(SqlException
I'm using Microsoft Oracle Data Provider(System.Data.OracleClient). As soon as I get the string (SC1101E,B+,) in my input parameter, I get the below error:-
"ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small"
Strange, as this same query works completely fine with my SQL client/toad.
The database type is varchar2 with 2000 length. A lot of longer strings easily able to be updated. But as soon as above string get in the parameter, the code starts vomitting error.
I'm seeing some weird behavior within MVC 2 in regard to reading cookies. I write a cookie and specify a path. I intermittently see a null value returned for this cookie within my MVC application. I've verified throug Firebug that the browser is sending along the cookie in the request headers. When debugging, I can see the cookie in the headers (i.e.) Request.Headers["cookies"] but when trying to access the cookies collection, it's null (Request.Cookies["mykey"].
I'm using the AsyncController. Since this the issue is intermitent, is it possible there is a race condition?
I have some problems with trying to read values on a postback. The fields, textboxes and dynamiclly created fields doesn't keep their values or I'm doing something wrong when trying to read the values. I get an error message:

Also, I get some other errors, such as "Name 'DropDownList1' is not declared" and "Name 'Label1' is not declared" I'm used to classic ASP and this is my first .net 2.0 (vb) application. I'm including some of the code (should be all relevant code)
I created a method in my class which will determine if an input is a numeric value or not.
Code:
[URL]
And even I input a numeric value in my entry, still I get the error message "Invalid entry". Can anyone from this community have an idea on how am I going to solve this issue.
I have a javascript to enable text boxes when called, I want to trigger this code when a user picks value "Custom" from a dropdownlist, so that I can display/Hide these new textboxes.
I am using Adobe Captivate 5, and ime trying to create an ASP script which will store the results from a quiz in an SQL database. The problem I am having is that captivate is posting the results from the quiz in multipart/form-data format and I am unable to retrieve the variables in my ASP script.
I have tried request.form("test") and fileUpload("test") and neither retreives the varibales.
What is the syntax to retrieve data that has been posted in the multipart/form-data format???
I've just encountered an interesting problem in a standard BoundField in a GridView. The field is for EmployeeCode, which is purely numeric, but stored in a character column in the database. The DataFormatString="{0:00000}" attribute on the BoundField doesn't work, as I assume that format is only for numeric values.
To work around this, I had to use a TemplateField, and bind the text value using the attribute Text='<%# PadNumericString(Eval("EmployeeCode").ToString(), 5) %>'. Is there no simpler way of doing this?
I have a MVC application which is called by entering httphandler in the URL. for example my url is likeexaple.com/client.site/__.ashxNow when i enter illegal characers some thing like this: exaple.com/client.site/_||_.ashx . It is throwing an error saying illegal characters in the URL. I tried to handle it in web.config but of no use.So i added global.asax, by redirecting it to some htm file. It works perfect. But when i enter the illega character like this: example.com/client.s||ite/__.ashxIt is showing the error page. How can I handle this. I tried with custom error page at IIS,but of no use.My requirement is to display custom erro page when some illegal character is entered in the URL.
I am having a very odd issue for my website [URL]. I am seeing strange characters in the home page. visit the site [URL] to view the details The site works perfectly in local system The site is done asp 2.0 and sql server 2005. I have made the customer error mode to Off to view the issues. But the page is coming in odd characters.
My parameters are UNAME,PWD,VerticalID and Filter, now, there is no problem with my uname, pwd and verticalid, but my Filter have value of A,B,etc.in the sense just one character value.
But whenever I entered data,it returns this error:
"Specified Value has invalid CRLF Characters" this error belongs to Filter.
But when I entered ABCD it returns null because Filter is a string type and only one character value. But ASP.NET is not taking this one character value as string.
