protected void Button3_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
OdbcConnection MyConnection = new OdbcConnection("Driver={MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver};Server=localhost;Database=testcase;User=root;Password=root;Option=3;");
MyConnection.Open();
String MyString = "select fil_no,orderdate from temp_save where fil_no=? and orderdate=?";
OdbcCommand MyCmd = new OdbcCommand(MyString, MyConnection);
MyCmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("", HiddenField4.Value);
MyCmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("", TextBox3.Text);
using (OdbcDataReader MyReader4 = MyCmd.ExecuteReader())
{
//**
if (MyReader4.Read())
{
String MyString1 = "UPDATE temp_save SET order=? where fil_no=? AND orderdate=?";
OdbcCommand MyCmd1 = new OdbcCommand(MyString1, MyConnection);
MyCmd1.Parameters.AddWithValue("", Editor1.Content.ToString());
MyCmd1.Parameters.AddWithValue("", HiddenField1.Value);
MyCmd1.Parameters.AddWithValue("", TextBox3.Text);
MyCmd1.ExecuteNonQuery();
}
else
{
// set the SQL string
String strSQL = "INSERT INTO temp_save (fil_no,order,orderdate) " +
"VALUES (?,?,?)";
// Create the Command and set its properties
OdbcCommand objCmd = new OdbcCommand(strSQL, MyConnection);

I did all the instructions which are in the following link: [URL] in order to do a connection between MySQL database and ASP.NET but I did not successed. Sometimes, it told me that I have a mistake in the <asp: button> and sometimes it told me that I did a mistake in calling (addImage) method. And this is my whole code:-

I am using VS2008 and oracle 10g ODP.Net. The oracle database that I used in the connection is working and tested it using sql plus.The connection string when used in a GriDView works perfectly. Now when I created a new listview control with the same connection it gives an error.Database schema could not be retrieved for this connection. Please make sure connection settings are correct and the database is online

I have installed MySQL and set up an ODBC driver to point to a database in MySQL. In ASP.NET I have defined a connection string to attach to this MySQL dtabase.
<asp:SqlDataSource
ID="SqlDataSource2"
runat="server"
ConnectionString="<%$
ConnectionStrings:MySQLConnectionString %>"
SelectCommand="SELECT
* FROM [categories]"
ProviderName="<%$
ConnectionStrings:MySQLConnectionString.ProviderName %>">
</asp:SqlDataSource>
However in ASP.NET connection wizard, although the tables are shown, no colums are shown and when I attempt to run the page which uses this datasource I get an error message about a syntax error near page 1 at 'Select * from [categories]'. how to use an ODBC (MySQL) datasource in ASP.NET?

Why does a very simple script which inserts 26,000 records into a mysql database (myisam, no transactions) take 13 seconds in the php implementation, and then 35-50 seconds using mono+mysql connector? I thought asp.net was faster than php? Could the problem be the mono mysql connector is "platform independent", so the performance just stinks? or does asp.net suffer more overhead than php when it comes to executing each query? Aren't there any native linux binaries for mysql connector for mono that may be faster?

I'm using Visual Studio 2008, and my database is SQL Server 2000.
I want to add a connection to the Server Explorer in VS. The Data source is Microsoft SQL Server (SqlClient). After entering in all my information and I click Test Connection, it is successful.
But when I click OK, I get the error:
Unable to add data connection. ExecuteScalar requires an open and available connection. The connection's current state is closed.

Is there a way to catch a database exception and then redirect to an error page? I have a data access class that I use to make a sql connection and then functions that call it to execute my SQL commands. My problem is that if my database is not available I cannot catch that error. Here is the code I am using in my class:
Protected Function GetConnection() As SqlConnection
Dim ret_conn As SqlConnection
ret_conn = New SqlConnection(System.Web.Configuration.WebConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("EUCNET00617").ToString())
ret_conn.Open()
GetConnection = ret_conn
End Function

I'm getting a lot of these error messages in my logs on one of my servers and intermittently on two others.Googling didn't reveal very much information, mostly related to file uploads or downloads being interrupted. My pages are basically just text files with "ok" in them that only have .aspx extension for future plans, there's no actual code powering the pages. Servers are all Windows Server 2008 RC2 x64 running IIS7 / ASP.NET 4.Statistically it's happening well under 1% of the time but because of the volume of traffic that still clutters my event log with 2 or 3 of these messages per minute.Edit:tracked down the problem, setting buffering to true stopped it occurring.

I've read several questions explaining how to handle file uploads in asp.net mvc. I am trying to submit both the file as well as form fields describing it. That might be the issue. I'll go write to the code:
View code:
<% using (Html.BeginForm("CreateFile", "Video", FormMethod.Post, new { enctype = "multipart/form-data" }))
{%>
<fieldset>
<legend>Fields</legend>
<p>
<label for="file">Filename:</label>
<input type="file" name="file" id="file" />
</p>
<p>
<label for="Password">Password:</label>
<%= Html.TextBox("Password")%>
<%= Html.ValidationMessage("Password", "*")%>
</p>
<p>
<label for="Description">Description:</label>
<%= Html.TextBox("Description")%>
<%= Html.ValidationMessage("Description", "*")%>
</p>
<p>
<label for="DateUploaded">DateUploaded:</label>
<%= Html.TextBox("DateUploaded")%>
<%= Html.ValidationMessage("DateUploaded", "*")%>
</p>
<p>
<label for="DateRecorded">DateRecorded:</label>
<%= Html.TextBox("DateRecorded")%>
<%= Html.ValidationMessage("DateRecorded", "*")%>
</p>
<p>
<input type="submit" value="Submit" />
</p>
</fieldset>
<% } %>
Controller code:
[AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)]
public ActionResult CreateFile(VideoDTO video, HttpPostedFileBase f) //[Bind(Exclude="VideoId")]
{
foreach (string file in Request.Files)
{
HttpPostedFileBase hpf = Request.Files[file] as HttpPostedFileBase;
if (hpf.ContentLength == 0)
continue;
string savedFileName = Server.MapPath("Videos") + Path.GetFileName(hpf.FileName);
hpf.SaveAs(savedFileName);
video.FileName = hpf.FileName;
}
repository.CreateVideo(video);
return RedirectToAction("Index");
}
I've seen several examples, but haven't come across one that is trying to submit both a file and other form data. Some other things of note is other examples seem to not put a HttpVerb attribute on the action method at all and have an empty parameter string. The files I'm looking to accept will be video files of various types but they can be anywhere from 100-300 mb. The files I've attempted to use (locally) have been rather small comparatively (50 or so mb).I know it's been asked but I feel like my issue here is different somehow. When I submit the page I see:
The connection was reset
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

If you have not yet created the SQL Server database, exit the Web Site Administration tool, use the aspnet_regsql command-line utility to create and configure the database, and then return to this tool to set the provider.

I have an asp.net web page which works with a database. When I first upload it I never disposed the connections so after using the different modules of the application for sometime it would suddenly stop working saying the connection pool filled or something like that.To fix it when a user clicked a button I opened the connection, tell the database what I needed and finally disposed the connection.
This seemed to fix everything, in fact you can work with application all you want, the problem comes if you stop using it for certain time.So for instance, I have a module in my webpage where user can capture information for a certain product. When the user clicks in one button the info gets into the database. If the user is continuosly capturing data everything works fine, but if it goes for about 10 min when he clicks the button he will receive an error. To fix this the user has to log-in again.
Every module opens a connection to the database to verify the user identity, but then after it verifies it I dispose the connection so I don't think there is a problem.

I'm thinking the problem here is with my SQL Syntax, but I'm not sure and need a fresh pair of eyes to check it out. This is the code I'm using to connect to and then insert into the DB:
OdbcConnection datConn = CreateDataConn();
datConn.Open();
OdbcCommand comm = new OdbcCommand();
comm.CommandText = "INSERT INTO userdata (key, secretkey, uid) VALUES ('" + token + "', '" + secret + "', '" + twitterid + "');";
comm.Connection = datConn;
comm.ExecuteNonQuery();
datConn.Close();
And here is the CreatDataConn() method:
private OdbcConnection CreateDataConn()
{
OdbcConnection dbConn = new OdbcConnection();
dbConn.ConnectionString = "Dsn=MySQL;database=twittertest;option=0;port=0;server=localhost;uid=root;pass=Red!4jedi";
return dbConn;
}
I created a DSN to the database, which is hosted on my machine. When I run the application I get this error:
ERROR [42000] [MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver][mysqld-5.1.51-community]You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'key, secretkey, uid) VALUES ('127090765-i3aZl71LPSVUCPZs9kHSYeBli0vWpbq0BaM1roYC' at line 1
But for the life of me I can't figure out what's wrong with my syntax...It's prolly something simple, but again, I need a pair of fresh eyes to look at this.

I wanted to post my problem and solution since I've gotten some good information on this board. When deploying my Visual Studio 2008 C# .NET 2.0 web application Production, I encountered some problems, which is not unusual. What was unusual is that my Crystal Reports .NET reports that use the Report Viewer control would not work; they errored out with:
note: Crystal Report works fine in dev environment....
Logon failed. Details: ADO Error Code: 0x Source: ADODB.Connection Description: Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed. Unable to connect: incorrect log on parameters.We are using Oracle 11g 64 bit as database. We establish crystal report database connection by two ways,
1. Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle
2. Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC
but we got the same error in report module when we using two methods.
