Referencing Page Class In Project Subfolders?
Jan 28, 2010I have a referencing problem in my project. I have an ASP.NET application where pages are in multiple subfolders. All pages user controls are working fine.
I just want to reference a page class that is not in the root folder (in subfolder from the root folder) in my usercontrol code-behind file like this
if (Page is ar_default){ //}Where ar_default is my page class name as it is in folder name "ar"The user control is also in the same subfolder as the page being accessed.Wnen I use the same method with pages in the root folder, there is no problem at all and it is working although I notice that the classes still not appearing in the coding drop down menu but if I typed the name correctly it work.like so:if (Page is _default){ //}When using the same code with classes in subfolders it is giving this error:The type or namespace name 'ar_default' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)I'm not using any namespaces also.

I have a hyperlink control within the masterpage that i want to change the NavigateUrl depedning on what page. Just for better coding i would like to define the variable holding the hyperlink with my shared_method.vb.
I have:
Dim hl_back As HyperLink = CType(Master.FindControl("hl_master_back"), HyperLink)
This works within a page but not within shared_methods.
MVC :: 2 File Referencing From Within LogOn.aspx
Apr 10, 2010I have written a custom membership provider for my MVC 2 app, and it all works fine. I wanted to force people to log in as soon as they went to the site, so set the authorization section of the web config to deny annonymous users. As expected, when you try and access the site, it re-routes you straight to the LogOn.aspx page. The problem I'm having is that when it initially jumps to the LogOn page, it cannot find any of the files referenced in the html header section.
The strange thing is I set a path to a css file as follows:
../../Content/site.css
yet in the page it shows up as
../Content/site.css
I even wrote a html helper that uses Url.Content on the paths passed in, but this still does not solve the problem. If I go to the LogOn page after the application has initially loaded, it references all the files correctly.

Web Forms :: Create Multiple Files All Referencing The Same Aspx Page?
Oct 19, 2010Basically I need multiple code-behind files each containing different functions for a page. Different classes do not do this because they are not connected to the page so their methods require parameters I want direct control of the page without the need for parameters.
I can only seem to crete one code-behind file and I need many. I've tried putting the aspx page in the App_Code folder but this causes an error.
Security :: Allowing Access To Default.aspx With Default Document Enabled?
Jan 19, 2011I am trying to secure very mixed content that is located in an ASP.NET directory. For purposes of this question, it can be ~/MyApp/.
I want all of the content in the directory and its subdirectories restricted to authenticated users. The default.aspx page, though, should be accessible to everyone. This is the web.config in that directory:

Now if you are an unauthenticated user, everything works fine if you request [code]....
The problem occurs in that visitors do not always request "Default.aspx". We have a default document configured so that they get Default.aspx even if they just request "/MyApp". An authenticated user works fine, but an unauthenticated user is directed to the login page.
Now I know that essentially this happens because even though the request for "/MyApp/" will actually end up serving up "/MyApp/Default.aspx", the security system is only checking for "/MyApp/" since that is what I requested. That is then getting the default security for the directory.
How can you configure an exception to allow access when no particular file is requested in the directory??
Is there some dependency between DefaultDocumentModule and UrlAuthorizationModule? In this environment, the UrlAuthorizationModule has been removed and re-added in order to make sure it fires for non-managed requests. I would not expect that to change the order of execution, though, since UrlAuthorizationModule usually goes after DefaultDocument.
A workaround could be to set up the opposite security with the directory being open, and then trying to secure individual files. Because of the (changing) number of files, and extensions, etc, and the fact that you cannot use wildcards in a <location>, this is not really a workable solution for me.

I can change the line every time I add a new controller, but it would be nicer if I could somewhere specify the default value that gets set there. That way I wouldn't need to worry about forgetting this, and other people who get added to the project later on would have an easier time.

Web Forms :: Class Method Error "Arithmetic Operation Resulted In An Overflow"
Sep 28, 2010I have a class that runs calculations on numbers and populates the results to my SQL database. My code behind page instantiates the class object, and in a loop it makes use of the method five times (once per loop). Essentially, my code behind collects the information from controls and passes the information to the class method for processing. The method works just fine most of the time.
On one of the iterations I get a error before the code even gets to the class. The error is, "Arithmetic operation resulted in an overflow." What strikes me as odd is that while stepping through the code, the loop crashes with that error before getting to the class that runs the calculations. Additionally, no arethmetic operations are performed on the form's code-behind page (which calls the method). I even put a break-point on the class constructor but the code crashed before reaching that constructor.
The information being sent is the results of matches from a sporting event. As a troubleshooting measure I changed the order of the matches by deleting them an re-entering them into the database in a different order. Again only this one particular match crashed. Here is the code that crashes:

Since the values for the entity are within a user control, I have stored a reference to the control in Session and in the updating event, set the new instance to the value of the entity from the user contol property (which also pulls values from the form viaother properties of the control):

My question is, how can I get the update method to pass this entity to the update method in my BLL class? It seems the Update method requires an ID or reference to the original object to use in determining whether any changes have taken place, but I don't really want to do this. In other words, I just want to use the Update event on my ObjectDataSource to pass my entity to the method ("Update") I set as a property and then let this business method handle the update of the data. Shown below, is the BLL update method I want to call:

Previously, I'd set up a long list of parameters of basic data types (string, int, boolean), but this is rather cumbersome and I was hoping to use an entity for this (FYI, I also got the same type of error when I tried this approach, but with the ID as the
last parameter in the list). Perhaps what I'm doing here is atypical to how the ODS is normally used?? Has anyone done something like this successfully?

In the web.cong I changed Allow"*" to allow"ADMIN" ... still didn't work.. Also, I was trying to avoid using roles for now, and I was trying to find a way to do this for individual pages in the same directory as well... If possible with out touching the web.config file...
