Dec 26, 2010I'm trying to create a basic application, i created facebook application before but everything has been changed.
I looked every where to create a basic application, but now i'm getting mad because there isn't any working sample. Because of the changed links, facebook api changes, facebook wiki changes i couldn't find a working copy.
write a basic app that gets permission to write user name to screen in facebook developer toolkit asp.net. I looked computerbeacon.net, codeplex, and some other pages but i couldn't succeed.

Nov 8, 2010I am developing a facebook application in asp.net using the facebook developkit downloaded from [URL] website.
I am practicing a sample application in SDK 3.02samplesIFrame.
They have give an attribute called RequiredAttribute = true in IFrameMaster.Master.cs, which will access the basic information.
But I want to request for extended permission in the same screen itself.
For that i have used this.RequiredPermissions = new List() { Facebook.Schema.Enums.ExtendedPermissions.publish_stream, Facebook.Schema.Enums.ExtendedPermissions.offline_access };
But there is no use.
Is there any way to do it.

Apr 10, 2010This is the first time i am going to develop asp.net web application for mobiles. All these while i thought there are seperate project templates available in VS2008 and VS2010 as i used to see them in VS2003. Now it is missing. I have also seen assemplies(System.Web.Mobile) available in .net framework for mobile based web controls. I googled, i did not find any convincing results :(.
Do i need to use the same Asp.net WebSite template for both desktop browsers and mobile browsers just by considering the screen layout?. that is i should detect if the request is from desktop browsers use one type of layout and other for mobile browsers. If my understanding is right? how do i test those web pages for different mobile models?
Web Development - How To Share Application Cache Between Two Applications
Oct 27, 2010I have one website over at utopiapimp.com. The website is used for a popular web based game. Some company internets don't allow the website to be accessed so I opened up another domain at utopiashrimp.com. Same website but a different iss application. Both have same database backends. They also both sit on the same virtual machine. I put my brand new code on shrimp and solve bugs with that code. I host the solid code on pimp. So I can't just forward the shrimp domain to pimp because I need a test bed.
The problem is that they don't share the same application cache. So my question is, can two websites share the same application cache? I really need to figure this out. I would rather not create a webservice and or a handler that one website needs to hit to change the cache on the other application.

Jul 6, 2010I've a ASP.Net application which utilizes SQL Server Stored Procedures and Web Services using Windows Authentication. The idea is to use the logged in user credentials for invoking the web service (This is critical since the web service use the authentication credentials to assign the owner of the created or updated record) and for executing the stored procedure.When I am using VS.Net integrated web server the result is just fine (May be because this server starts under current logged in user account) The SQL Server SP returns expected results (Even when I execute them from Query Analyzer) and web service credentials is set correctly to the current logged in user. However when I host the application in local IIS it's not working as expectedly. The Sql Server stored procedure returns EMPTY dataset and web service credentials is set to empty.I am using
myService.Credentials = System.Net.CredentialsCache.DefaultCredentials
Bothe the web service host virtual directory and my application virtual directory is using Windows Authentication in Directory Security of IIS.

Dec 24, 2010Im trying to use the sdk without a canvas application, so have followed steps 1-7 in the quickstart guide up to adding the facebookSettings property in the Web.config.
I have added an image to my page and an onclick event that contains the below code. but when I click the button, it just takes me to the home page (CancelUrlPath).
Changing the Authorizer to a CanvasAuthorizer results in FB loading the login screen, but I get an error 404 not found on the call (even after inserting the handlers into the config)..

Feb 23, 2010I am thinking about setting up a new domain to host static content on my website and have it cookieless just like Stackoverflow with their static domain. So before going ahead and buying the domain and setting it up I wanted to test it on my developement machine first under localhost (I have to mention that i am planning on having IIS running on my new domain for the static files). I therefore created a new application under IIS and disabled session state and forms authentication. When my main application needs resources like css, images and js , I use the path to the "static" application where they are hosted.
The problem is that when I look at the request and the response for the requested files, they still have the session_id cookie defined as well as the asp.net authentication cookie. Is it at all possible to accomplish what i am trying to do on a development machine or do i have to just go ahead and purchase the new domain which hopefully with make things right? I tried to read about cookieless domain but can't figure out what i might be missing.
