How To Request The Extended Permission At The Time Of Authentication Only In Facebook App Development

Nov 8, 2010

I am developing a facebook application in asp.net using the facebook developkit downloaded from [URL] website.

I am practicing a sample application in SDK 3.02samplesIFrame.

They have give an attribute called RequiredAttribute = true in IFrameMaster.Master.cs, which will access the basic information.

But I want to request for extended permission in the same screen itself.

For that i have used this.RequiredPermissions = new List() { Facebook.Schema.Enums.ExtendedPermissions.publish_stream, Facebook.Schema.Enums.ExtendedPermissions.offline_access };

But there is no use.

Is there any way to do it.

Facebook Canvas Iframe App Extended Permissions Failing?

Oct 21, 2010

I am attempting to create a Facebook IFrame Application using the Facebook Developer's Toolkit (language I'm using is VB). No matter what I do, I cannot get past this error message from Facebook.

App may not request permissions that do not apply to all profiles in the selector

I have tried dropping a CanvasIFrameLoginControl with requirelogin=true

i have also tried inheriting Facebook.Web.CanvasIFrameMasterPage then adding Me.RequireLogin = True to the Page_Init event. Both of these do require login. As soon as I add Required permissions, however, I get the API Error Code 100 - an app may not request permissions that do not apply to all profiles in the selector error from facebook.

C# - Saving A Text File In Client Side Without Asking For Permission Any Time

Mar 31, 2011

I need to save a text file on the client side possibly without permission. The case is that I need to save this text file in a shared folder in this or in another machine in the lan. This text file is going to be read automatically by the fiscal printer which will print the fiscal invoice. I have a asp .net web application and the server is not on the same lan with the fiscal printer, so I have to write it on the client-side. how to do this without asking to the user every time for the security issue.

I can accept a solution like, the client is asked only one time a the first printing, but not every time he wants to print a bill. Some kind of asking permission to the client for allowing this website, in order to not repeat the permission asking.

Loopback - Why Can't Make An Http Request To The ASP.NET Development Server On Localhost

Apr 5, 2010

I have an ASP.NET project (VS2008 on Windows 7 with either webforms, MVC1, or MVC2 -- all the same result for me) which is just the File->New hello world web project. It's using the default ASP.NET development server, and when I start the server with F5, the browser never connects and I get a timeout. I tried to debug this by telnetting to the development server's port while it was running, and I got the same result:

C:Usersfarmercs>telnet localhost 54752 Connecting To localhost...Could not open connection to the host, on port 54752: Connect failed I can see in the system tray that the server thinks it's running, and a netstat -a -n command shows that there is indeed an active TCP listener on that port.

This worked in the not-too-distant past, and I could work on web projects using the development server. One thing that has changed since then was that I installed the Microsoft Loopback Adapter to accommodate a local development Oracle installation. I'm not sure this is the problem, but it seems a likely culprit.

I also tried to hit the port using the server name itself (http://mycomputername:54752) but with the same result. So, what could be blocking me from connecting? And if it's the loopback, then what is a good way for me to retain my ability to connect to my development Oracle server while still being able to use the ASP.NET development server?

Visual Studio 2010 - Site Upgraded VS08 - VS10, And Now Compile-time Errors Do Not Show Until I Request The Page At Run-time?

Mar 11, 2011

I have an ASP.NET website that worked fine using and debugging in VS2008. I went through the upgrade process opening the solution in VS2010. I can run the site, but as I make changes in the app_code folder classes, they don't seem to commpile and warn me of compile-time errors. As soon as I get to a point that calls the class, the errors show up. Sounds JIT I guess, but this isn't how it was working in 08. Is there an option that was changed in the upgrade process? This is a large project, I really don't want to break something and not find out until some obscure page is opened.

Using Authentication / Authorization With Cassini Development Server?

Mar 7, 2011

I've just run into one of the problems of using the integrated dev server (Cassini) in VS and would like to see if there are any solutions.We're using asp.net authentication to secure the site. However, Cassini runs in integrated pipeline mode, meaning that requests for all files go through the asp.net isapi. The result of this is that it's securing files that would otherwise not be secured in a production environment (.htm .js .css etc..).

Now I understand that we can run the project on a local IIS instance, but we would like to avoid this if possible. But, because of the problem above, this is looking like the only solution.Does anybody have any ideas about how to get Cassini working with authentication that can be easily moved to a production environment when ready. (I'd also like to avoid having a different development web.config that specifically allows access to these files).

VS 2012 - Disabling Forms Authentication During Development

Jul 1, 2013

So we're building this website and we've decided to use forms security. We've added users and roles and put code in to control the display of certain functionality based upon User roles. It's all working great except for one thing.

Developers don't like to login to the website every time they want to test a page. So they do things like add a line to web.config like <allow users="*" /> right below <authorization >. This gets them past security, but then we get errors when we check User.IsInRole.

I know this can't be a new problem. How do development teams seemlessly turn forms authentication on and off while doing development?

Security :: Windows Authentication / "Permission Denied" Error?

Feb 15, 2010

I am writing an internal web app for a company who wont to use their existing Active Directory Logins (rather than a seperate SQL Database User Login Table).

To do this I have done the following

web.config
<authentication mode="Windows">
<identity impersonate="true"/>
<authorization>
<deny users="?"/>
<!-- Allow Public Users to Access -->
<allow users="*"/>
</authorization>
<roleManager enabled="true"
defaultProvider="AspNetWindowsTokenRoleProvider"/>
End

This seems to work on my localhost but I have a couple of questions for you guys.

1) How does this process know which active directory to authenticate against? I know in code you can do

LdapAuthentication adAuth = new LdapAuthentication("LDAP://Server");

But there seems to be no way to do this in the web.config (I'm guessing it will just use the active directory on current machine it's running on?). Is there away to specify which active directory I'd like it to authenticate against?

2) If a user tries to access this remotely (i.e. not on their native windows account) what will happen, will it just default to a login form or just throw a "Permission Denied" error?
