i have a very annoying iis problem
iis server stops working until app pool is recycled
i am hoping that new visual studio (net framework 4.0) may solve this very annoying unsolveable problem
I did the following:
(1) File / New / Web Site
(2) Right-clicked on new website name
(3) Selected "Add New Item..."
(4) Selected Web Form
(5) Didn't see any check boxes for selecting either "Place code in separate file", or "Select master page".
The checkboxes are missing. Is this a configuration problem?
When I open files, particularly files with many links and/or images, vwd get stalled every few seconds as, according to the status bar, it's "getting file xxx from the web".

View 3 RepliesI'm trying to migrate an old asp.net 1.1 application to target the new .net 4.0 framework. There are good guides available on this [URL]. However, all approaches start with the assumption that the 1.1 project contains a solution file which one has to open using VS 2010 and go through the conversion wizard.
In my case, the project does not have any solution file, giving me a sort of chicken and egg issue.
Is there a way to add a 1.1 .net soution file with or without VS 2010? Using command line tools? What is so special about a solution file anyway?
Is there a way to make a new project file using Visual Studio express 2010 using the files downloaded off a server from an asp.net web site? If so what are the steps? I would like to make a new project out of the old files without starting from scratch, I don't want to just edit a couple of things I would like to create a project file using the files I can get off the server if possible. It would be C#.
View 1 RepliesThis question has probably been answered before, when adding a new web form, I do not see an option that allows you to place code in a seperate file for a project (it does it automatically). But for websites, I see the option. Am I missing some option?
View 1 RepliesI have a ftp directory, which is not an asp.net applications, it's regular asp, and I'm just trying to use 2010 express to modify those files. (the ftp server uses active mode ftp if that makes a difference) I can connect, open the files, and edit them. Below the X is the file name of the file I'm editing.
After I save them once it starts to say "confirm save to web server" A more recent version of the file X has been saved to the web(the time I saved), do you want to replace the server files with your local file? I hit yes then get an error box. Cannot save the file X to the web server. The file X has been modified by (unknown) on date -400
what's up with the new 2010 version of VWDExpress? It seems it no longer creates the VB code behind file to go along with the markup pages. Is threre a setting somewhere that I've missed? Or is code behind no longer supported?
View 2 RepliesAnyone know if I can maintain a VS 2008 (.net 3.5) project by using the VS 2010 IDE ?
View 1 RepliesI've run into a particularly nasty bug where an ASP.NET website attempts to make a call to a WCF service method that sends IIS into a death spiral...that ultimately brings down the associated app pool. It never gets to our log4net code that outputs unhandled exceptions.I was watching w3wp.exe processes spin up and die, so I figured I'd take a dump file on termination using ProcDump from SysInternals using the following command
View 2 RepliesBest way to describe my issue with vs 2010.create a new website. create the App_Code folder. create a new class in the folder. put the line "x" in the class declaration. hit compile. And the website will compile with no errors. It's not "seeing" this new class as being part of the project best I can tell.

I just recently upgrade my asp.net web project from visual studio 2005 to visual studio 2010. The upgrade was successful with no problems however im missing some features with this project. The One Click Publish feature(which is greyed out) in the header area of Visual Studio 2010 and the Add Config Transforms feature which is no where to be seen when you right click on web.config. When i create a new web project straight from visual studio 2010, these options work fine.
View 1 RepliesVisual Studio 2010 Beta 2 locked up, and when I tried to restart it, it wouldn't load, so I did a devenv.exe /resetuserdata to get it going again. It reset everyhing in my options of the web app/ etc, and now some AJAX conrols don't work such as dragpanel. I assume that it is because something got reset that I haven't enabled again, but can't figure it out.
