I have a GridView (it could just as easily be a ListView if the latter is easier).
I have a Button completely outside of the GridView.
I want to access the cell values in the GridView from the Click event handler of the Button.
is it possible to have a button defined outside a grid view and give it a command name of "select" and somehow attach it to the gridview, so the grid recieves a select command when clicked without writing code?

Is there a way to access the updated text property of a TextBox which is inside a GridView cell when a Wizard controls next or previous buttons are clicked? I have a requirement to not use the edit and/or update buttons on the GridView row. Therefore, I am trying to figure out a way of grabbing the updated values of each TextBox of the GridView on the PostBack. Furthermore, these controls (i.e. Wizard and GridView) are within an AJAX UserControl.
View 5 RepliesI have a grid with three columns, two of which contain drop-downs, all of them getting filled from a web service result set. Now I want to allow the functionality of adding a new record in the grid by clicking an Add button present outside the gridview.
Whenever the user clicks the Add button, a new record should be created in the grid with value list filled in the drop-downs with the available options.
What is the best possible way to achieve this considering extensibility in mind.
CellPadding only applies the padding to the header row. CssClass in Gridview, RowStyle or EditRowStyle has no effect.

I'm working on a project in vb.net framework 2.0 and have a column that has server names. I have the accessdb sql setup to order by the db, what I would like to do is to have it look like the following picture below. I'm pretty stumped on how to do it as the methods I've found online haven't worked so well. Also just a small tid-bit the gridview is bound to a ddl which selects the application and the gridview refreshes with server data. Country would be server name and state would be the environment.

Someone once change the columne's properties as following, but it doesn't work

One solution is to check if the cell value is " ". If so, assign it an empty string. But this approach looks awkward.
I am able to get the values of GridView cells when the columns are not visible.
For Example:

But if I make the BiundFiled Visible="true" then I get the value in the code behind.

we're creating a GridView to display news articles programmatically (not using a SQL database).
We can create & display the GridView, but are having a devil of the time to get the hyperlinks in SetupGrid() attached to the titles
of the articles in the GridView. Below is our .aspx code and .vb code of how we create the GridView. Any ideas on what we should do to get the hyperlinks array of strHyperlinks() in SetupGrid() to be applied to the titles in column 1 of the GridView?

I have a gridview that has both a select and an update statement. One of the cells is a date cell, and the other is for numerics only. Is there a way I can do this? At the moment, anything can be keyed into the cells and this results in an error as my update stored procedure expects a date value and a numeric value respectively.

I have a Gridview with some cells in numbers while in some cell they could be null without numbers. I need to modify it such that the numbers in the Gridview are in these formats:-
(a) If it is 12345.333 becomes 12,345
(b) If it is blank, I wish the cells to display 0
This is the code I am using to achieve (a), but when it comes to blank, it returns error (I believe my code below failed to provide blank cases but I dunno how. So what should be the code to do (b) above ?

Normally, everything looks OK, but sometimes the other data in my GriView will expand to two or more "lines" in the same row of data. Unfortunately this causes my cell to look like the following:

The update operation is done successfully...weired. i need to assigned selected row cells values to variables ..do some calculations and then re-assign the result calculation to cell[9]..
