Forms Data Controls :: Apply Substring To Date Field?
Sep 10, 2010
I have a gridview that has a field called TargetDate which is formatted as dd/mm/yyyy. I want to substring the numbers out of the date. So basically remove the '/'. How do I do that? can't just substring(0,2) because sometimes the date is single digits, sometimes 2 digits. I am using vb.net.
I have a page with a FormView on it. The page is strictly for adding records to a Table. I have the FormView bound to an EntityDataSource and everything works greate except for one thing.
I want to initialize a date field in the FormView to today's date. So, in my page_load event I have:
if (!Page.IsPostBack) { //Initialize SetupDate to today. TextBox setupdate = (TextBox)fvJob.FindControl("txtSetupDate"); setupdate.Text = DateTime.Now.ToShortDateString(); }
The first time this page loads, the txtSetupDate field is initialized.
Although, and subsequent loads of the page doesn't initialize the Text Box. I step through the code in the debugger and I can see that the code is executig, but something (the FormView bind?) is "clearing" the Text Box.
I have a databound gridview that displays basic customer information. I have added a template field to the gridview, but I am having trouble with the coding for the RowDataBound event. I need to take the sum of all payments made by the customer in each row and store it in a variable for further calculation. Also, I need to take an integer value (say 30, representing 30 days) and add it to a date, and return a date.
I need to pull a SubString from a Linq Datasource, but can't use INTs per .SubString(int, int) I have strings such as xxxx.xxxx.xxxxx.AAAA.xxxx.xxxx.xxxx.xxx and I need to pull AAAA out. the preceeding x's will be varying lengths, so I can't use a static int. What I do know is that there will be a static number of periods (.) leading up to the AAAA. I can't figure out how to use the SubSting with characters rather than indexs. This is what I have so far:
I have an "effectivedate" field that is displayed using a label inside a detailsview control... In the code behind I need to add 12 months to this to check if a policy is up for renewal or not...
To find the control I use this code... Dim EffectiveDate As Label = DetailsView1.FindControl("EffectiveDatelbl").ToString But when I try and convert the label to datetime type using this... Dim ExpireDate As DateTime = EffectiveDate.AddMonths(12)
I get the error - Cannot convert string to date, addmonths is not a member of label etc...
I'm hitting a wall trying to format a boundfield of a gridview. I've tried suggestion about setting the htmlencode to false, but that didn't make a difference. The column I am trying to format is:<asp:BoundField DataField="FromDate" HeaderText="Start Date" DataFormatString="{0:MM/dd/yyyy}" HtmlEncode="False" />
I am filtering dataview using my Date Column but the result is not proper because the Field value also stores time, so I want to convert this Date Field to only Date during Filter. How can I achieve this? Here is my code. And the actual value I am getting in the Dataset Field "CreationDate" is a DateTime field which is like
I have an Output clause in a SQL statement and I use getutcdate() for a record. Does UTC record seconds? If so, how do I display it? What data type should I use for the UTC field?
I have a form that contains a text box called "MyDate" in which the user enters a date. I have a table that contains records of which one of the fields in the record is a date field named "DateAvailable" (type is "datetime"). I want to compare the data in the text box to the "DateAvailable" field in record. How do I define my text box as a "datetime" field.
I have a detailsview with an update button one of the update fields is a checkbox which when is checked I want to automatically update a date field of when the checkbox was checked, am I going the right way with this code....... as I am getting a number of errors
Dim i As Integer For i = 0 To detailsview2.Rows.Count - 1 Step i + 1 Dim row As GridViewRow = GridView1.Rows(i) [code]....
In my application, I want all dates to display in the MM/DD/YYYY format and I also want the text box to be limited to 10 characters and have a certain class applied to it.
To that end, I made a custom editor template for Date that looks like this:
@ModelType System.Nullable(Of DateTime) @Html.TextBoxFor(Function(d) d, New With {.class="polkDate", .maxlength="10"})
Then in my view I just can just call @Html.EditorFor(Function(m) m.someDate) and this works pretty well. However, because I'm using TextBoxFor, it doesn't respect the DisplayFormat attribute that's applied to my model class (i.e. it's spitting out the time as well instead of formatting the date).
I would love to use EditorFor so that it would respect the formatting that I want, but you can't add attributes like class and maxlength. I also tried just using the plain old TextBox helper, but I don't know how to make it generate the correct ID so that model binding still works.
I am developing a new website that is membership based with yearly subscriptions. Using VS2010/asp.net4/c#. I have my site up to the point where all my content is ready to go and i can add members to the database to access all the premium content.
However, I have no idea how to impliment a start date and expiration date for that membership. I have been following along with Wrox Beginning asp.net 4.0 from beginning to end and this isn't covered at all. I also have Apress Pro asp.net 4 as well and I cant find anything dealing with that in there either.
What I would love to be able to find is some book or tutorial that i can follow along with and learn from so that this doesn't happen again to me.
In short what I need to do is this.
1. Add new user to defined membership role
2. Apply start/end date to that user
3. When the end date has passed I need to reasign them to a new role and then redirect them to another page with a notification
4. I guess lastly some way to add/manage members as an admin on my deployed site. Durring development i was using the built in Web Site Admin Tool but I just found out that only works on my local machine.
I have a feeling this this will be a very simiple fix but because of my total lack of experience it has been driving me crazy for three days tyring to hunt down info.
I am using a GridView Control to display multiple fileds with 0's and 1's.
I am using template fields where CheckBoxes are used.
Where exactly and how do I apply the Logic to get a checked CheckBox when field Value=1 and unchecked CheckBox when field Value=2 .Also some times to be able to write a YES where fieldValue=1 or NO where filedValue=0
I have 2 fields in my gridview one called ScriptType the other BagNo, when a user click the edit button, I would like the BagNo filed to be disabled if the ScriptType field is = "TTA" and enabled otherwise. How can I do this?..something along these lines see below..I am using VB..
I have a DetailsView on the page and I have made one of the fields a TemplateField. In the EditItemTemplate and InsertItemTemplate I have a DropdownList that is databound to a table in my Sql Server database. I wanted to add an initial value to the DropdownList namely "- select -" .
I set the AppendDataBoundItems property to true and added the initial value as a ListItem.Markup of the DropdownList
This works fine for new input. The problem is however that the database already has records that were entered through a Windows Application and many of these records has a null value in this field and exceptions are thrown when I tried to open these records and the system tried to set the SelectedValue of the DropdownList. After some more searching I found this help
This now solved the problem of opening a record where the value is null in the database, BUT now the RequiredFieldValidator is not validating anymore to make sure that a databound item is selected for this field and not the initial value "- select -". So basically now it is not checking anymore to see if valid input has been entered for the DropDownList and it accepts "- select -" thus it acts as if the field is not a required field anymore.
In short what is required is that I want to make sure that the user enters a valid selection in the DropDownList, but it must also cater for old records that do not have this field entered yet so that those old records can be opened in the DetailsView .Opening Old records (with null in that field):When these old records are opened in the DetailsView the DropDownlist should show "- select -" when the value in the database is null.
Saving records (old or new records):When saving the record in Insert mode or Update mode the RequiredFieldValidator should show that a valid input is not selected if the DropDownList is still on "- select -".
I'm using a basic date picker control in a gridview and using an sqldatasource, I don't get an error but the date selected is not saved only null is saved. why that might happen or make any suggestions on what I might try to correct this?
