Forms Data Controls :: Button In Repeater Not Firing OnItemCommand?
May 13, 2010
I'm having some real problems trying to do this. In simple, a table shows a list of rooms with details of the room in each column, extracted from a database. The there is a button in the repeater, which is supposed to tell me what I clicked on in a new label. However the OnItemCommand just doesn't seem to be working.
[Code]....
Right now I'm just trying to get it to work, so that when I press the button, it causes the label to say "It works". But it just doesn't want to work.

I have a templated user control with single instance template attribute. It works great for everything except the following scenario:
[Code]....
The folder selector uses a tree view that allows people to select a folder, its FolderSelected event works perfectly and the file selector updates with the files. The file selector has a repeater that lists the files in the selected directory. It has a linkbutton for each of the files so that the user can select a file. The problem is that the ItemCommand event of the repeater doesn't fire when the file name is clicked on. The page performs the async postback like it should, but in debug, the method to handle the itemcommand event is never hit. On the same user control to select files there is a button that the user can add files to the folder. When it is clicked, the event DOES fire and the file is added and the control refreshes in the update panel, everything perfect. It seems that because the linkbutton is already in a templated control (which is in a user control, in a templated control), the event isn't firing correctly. I am confused as to why this should be a problem, especially since all the other events (even the custom ones) fire as long as they aren't in another templated control. Since the code is complicated, I didn't want to post it all here.

I have a repeater which contains a hidden link button that fires when I click a row in my repeater.
Here is the markup for my repeater:
<div id="divResults" style="height: 290px; overflow-y: auto;">
<asp:Label ID="lblNote" runat="server" Text="Note: select a row to edit."></asp:Label> [code]...
Here is the javascript thats added to each row in the rptLocations_ItemDataBound:
Row.Attributes.Add("onclick",
"javascript:__doPostBack('ctl00$mainContent$rptLocations$ctl0" + (e.Item.ItemIndex + 1).ToString() +
"$lbtn_SelectRow','')");
When I click the repeater row it fires the SetLocationControls method. As you can see my repeater is wrapped in a DIV of height 290px. When the are more than 9 rows in my repeater you have to scroll the div down to view this row. When I click this row it does the postback but doesn't fire the SetLocationControls method. I've had a look in the source it's created the click event to the repeater row like all the other rows. why this method isn't firing on the rows that aren't initially visible in my DIV?

what changed do I need to make to my code for it to achieve what I'm after.
At the moment I am getting a "cannot cast to type" error message with the below code.
I have also tried calling the ItemDataBound method in with the parent repeater tags and had no errors but when I clicked on the button it would just move back to the top of the page and would not hide or show any data. Also I have made the div style to none but the first record still shows its child but the rest don't.

Working in Asp.net 4.5 + Kentico CMS
I have Repeater in usercontrol and Inside the repeater i have 1 itemtemplate in which i have ImageButton on it. Also i am handling the Click event on the Imagebutton using ItemCommand of the Repeater. when i click the image button it fires the item_command on the codebehind which is fine. But if i use !Ispostback on page load to stop loadinghte databind event again which is in pageload, it's not firing the Item_Command Event.
If i remove the !Ispostback from my page it's doing the pageload event againt which has calling my databind method and then it calls the Item_commands event. Wondering is this kentico issue or usercontrol problem?

I am building a query tool which displays the results in a dataGrid. when the results are displayed (buttonColumn) it should allow the user to click a row and execute another function. the columns selected in my query are not always the same name but it is user defined, therefore i am not able to define the columns in the ASP page, but insted am doing it in the C# class behind. When the table is generated it does have the button columns but when clicked it does a postback and it does not execute the function defined in the OnItemCommand tag.

I have a datalist inside of an updatePanel. Within the datalist, for each item I have a linkbutton that when clicked I would like to fire the OnDeleteCommand of the datalist so that I can delete the record.
Problem is that I can never get the event to fire, it simply does a postback and then does not fire the event specified inthe "OnDeleteCommand" argument of the datalist control.
I've read many postings with similar entries, but nothing has worked.

I put it down for a few weeks to work on other things, but started working on it again because I need to get it to work.
Anyway, I figured if I wanted to put a button in a datalist all I had to do was:
[Code]....
And then in code behind:
protected void datalist1_ItemCommand(object source, DataListCommandEventArgs e)
{
if (e.CommandName == "submit")
{
// code here
}
}
This is what everyone else says to do when I search google. I put a break on the event but the event never fires. Does it matter if I am using VS 2010 and .net 4.0?

Created button in the rowdatabound event grid show the button fine, but on clicking it dont fire the delete button event :(. How to resolve it. Rows and columns of grid are created dynamically.
Button btnDelete =
new
Button();
btnDelete.Text = "X";
btnDelete.EnableViewState = true;
btnDelete.Command +=
new
CommandEventHandler(btnDelete_Command);//Add this to every cell.
e.Row.Cells[4].Controls.Add(btnDelete);
void btnDelete_Command(object sender,
CommandEventArgs e)
Response.Write(e.CommandArgument);
}
