Forms Data Controls :: Create A Gridview In A Separate Class?
Feb 9, 2011
Does anyone know if it is possible to create a gridview from a class on a seperate webpage?
So I have webpage 1, that calls Class 1, in Class one there will be a Select Query that will call some info from a database and then return it to a gridview. The gridview wont work obviously as it is in the class and not on webpage 1.
Is there anyway to reference the fact I would like the gridview created on webpage1?

i am displaying a gridview from db(SQL2005), which display leave table where employee apply leave and submit to admin. Viewing the leave table in gridview the admin sanction or rejected their leave request, by clicking the check box displays on each gridview rows and click on sanction or rejected button.
here i am sending SMS to the employee number displaying in the gridview (taking the employee phone number and send SMS).. this i have done using bulk SMS services, i have taken the number using the following
if check conditions...
but now what the problem is i have to delete the gridview rows.. i am using the same employee phonenumber to delete the corresponding gridview, but if suppose the single employee applied for two or more leave, the gridview display all leave for the single employee, the admin have sanction only one leave for that employee.. so if he checks the check box and click on OK button.. it have to delete the corresponding row as well as send SMS to the phonenumber of the employee.. Other leaves of the same employee display in the gridview.. i used the following coding
Protected Sub bttnsanction_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles bttnsanction.Click
Dim row As GridViewRow
Dim selection As New ArrayList()
For i As Integer = 0 To GridView1.Rows.Count - 1.........
I am using the Sno as primary key in leave table.. where i want to delete the corresponding row which sends SMS to employee number also the delete the row of corresponding Sno.. i have to get the corresponding gridview row sno in the delete store procedure..

I'm generating a number of calculated arrays in the code behind a ButtonClick event on a particular page. Stuff like:
Dim Delta(,) As Double = New Double(nPer - 1, 0) {}
For i = 0 To nPer - 1
Delta(i, 0) = Delta_Buckets(i, 0) + fwds(i, 0)
Next
What I want to do is convert this to a datatable and use this as a datasource for a gridview in a different page.

I have a couple of things that are not working with my Gridview:
1) I've managed to display 3 columns in one column (see code above) but the data is separated by commas, how can I display each data item in separate rows.
2) How can I make the data unique, as I have added the distinct command which I configured in my SQL data source
3) I need the rows to not display nulls, but at the moment it isn't displaying the row if one of the columns is null?

I'm wondering how I can go about accessing page controls from a separate class I've made. I've tried a few things I found using google, but no luck :(
What I'm trying to do is keep a function that is used often, in a global class.
The function then accesses a page literal and calls ScriptManager.RegisterStartupScript. I was hoping this is possible, so then this function wouldn't have to be copied to all of the pages.

I have access to two seperate databases (mySQL) located on two servers. I need to get the data, link the tables on a key field and display the results in a datagrid. My challenge is that if the search criteria changes for the display it affects rows returned from on table and should thus automatically affect the linked table and resulting data returned.
what the best approach would be to achieving this? So far I have set up a dataset with a dataadapter and table for each connection and then linked the tables in the dataset. The problem that I'm having is getting the linked resultsets to work.
On my form I have the datagrid with two Objectdatasources one for each dataadapter and i believe that's where I'm going wrong...

Nw i want to change the TempPwd checkboxfield from another aspx file namely NewUserLogin.aspx, So is it possible? The idea behind doing this is, as soon as the user enters a new password in the NewUserLogin.aspx page, the checkboxfield in the GridView of CustomerSetup.aspx file should be unset.

I think I've created and instantiated my first custom class. I'm pretty darn excited! Been reading up on it, I think I did it right but I'd like someone to double check. I'm trying to collect question ID's and associated answer values from a databound gridview and then insert them into the database.
I have two questions:
-Did I set up and instantiate the new class correctly? (also will need to access the class on other webpages)
-Am I ready for the next step of inserting into the Database with LINQ or is there something else I need to do?

I have a 2D array of doubles in my Default class on my Default.aspx.cs page, like so:
protected Double[,] time;
By the time the page loads, I have populated this array from a database. Now, I want to reference this array in another file (Diff.aspx.cs) to avoid visiting the database again. Also, the data is used in a read-only fashion.

I'm trying to change the CSS class of the row that is in edit mode. I've managed to get it working, but it only works for alternate rows. I'm totally stumped as to what could be causing it to behave like that. I've attached what I think is the relevant code below
[Code]....
protected void grdList_RowCreated(object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e)
{
if (e.Row.RowType == DataControlRowType.DataRow)
{
e.Row.CssClass = "row";
}
if (e.Row.RowState == DataControlRowState.Edit)
{
e.Row.CssClass = "rowEdit";
}
}
.grdView tr.row:hover
{
background-color: #999999;
font-weight:bold;
}
.grdView tr.editRow
{
background-color: #999999;
font-weight:bold;
}
.rowEdit
{
background-color: #999999;
font-weight:bold;
}
.grdView .row .edit, .grdView .row .delete
{
display:none;
}
.grdView tr.row:hover td .edit, .grdView tr.row:hover td .delete
{
display:inline;
}

Im writing a bit of code that will extract the contents of a gridview to excel. I have all the parts working except for one. In my page_load i fetch the data from the database and then have the user select some options which filters the data and then the gridview gets populated. The problem im having is that the Response call doesnt seem to get the data from the gridview if i enclose the database fetch command within if not page.ispostback in the page_load
I have some test pages where i just fetched the data from the database bound it in a gridview in the Page_load. then on a button click export the data in the gridview to excel. Works fine if i DONT enclose the fetch command within not page.ispostback but outputs an empty excel file if i do.
Now i have to use not page.ispostback in the actual webpages because the users have to make selections which will filter the original dataset. How do i get this to work?
The page is also implementing AJAX if that helps. Here's an example of what i have:

I'm trying to create a class, DataCommon, to contain all my SQL Data manipulation functions. I've created a Subroutine called Init that initializes a SQLDataAdapter:
[Code]....
From my other classes I am creating an instance of DataCommon, calling Init, and calling another subroutine in DataCommon that pulls data from SQL and loads the data into my dataset. This part is working great -- no problems at all. I'm loading three different Datatables in the Dataset with no issues.
At this point, I'll perform my various manipulations on the datatables -- add/delete/modify rows -- again with no problems. All of this is creating postbacks...and this is where my problem begins. After I've done all my manipulations to the data and am ready to update my SQL tables, I have to re-initialize my SQLDataAdapter. I thought I could do something like:
[Code]....
But I get the error: Exception inserting Class. Thread was being aborted.
In my initial data load from SQL, each datatable is getting loaded from a single SQL table, so I was hoping to use the autogenerated Update/Insert/Delete statements by the SQLDataAdapter. As a test, as soon as I filled the dataset initially, I added a new row to one of the datatables and used the SQLDataAdapter.Update() method before a postback occurred, and it worked perfectly.
So, with all that being said, I guess my question is, how do I reconnect the table mappings between my SQLDataAdapter and dataset to autogenerate the updates after a postback occurs? I've tried researching this, but I get confused after reading about FillSchema vs TableMappings vs everything else I've read about.

I've made an interface called ApprovalEvent in a separate file with the namespace myproject... I've also made a class called PurchaseOrder... it's also in the same namespace, just in a separate file. Whenever I try to make PurchaseOrder implement ApprovalEvent it always says that ApprovalEvent is undefined...
How can I make the class recognize that the interface exists but is in a different file?

In the example below I have set the control style to 'controlName' I want to use this class to define what my textbox looks like in edit mode. This works ok, so far so good. The Problem In a button event I add the class "validationError" to this textbox if the data is incorrect. When the grid gets rendered I expect to get 'controlName validationError as the class applied to the textbox. Unfortunately, it seems that the declarative statement overrides this and simply ends up as 'controlName' how I can intercept the application of the declarative class so that I get what I desire here?
<asp:BoundField
DataField="Name"
HeaderStyle-CssClass="headerName"
ItemStyle-
CssClass="itemName"
ControlStyle-CssClass="controlName"
HeaderText="Name"
>
</asp:BoundField>
