Sep 13, 2010
I have a grid that displays all the years sales cost and billing margin (1-(cost/sales)) but it seems on some years there is a cost but no sale and it is giving me a cannot divide by 0 error on running. how can i make it where if it cannot give the BM then it will say N/A or something instead of erroring out?
Im having issues with a webform that previously worked before I added a dropdownlist.selectedindexchanged event related to the data that the details view displayed. I ran it in debugging mode and the variable has a valid value. Heres the line Im getting the error on:

Public Sub btnSave_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)Line 246: 'Dim thv As GridView = TryCast(Me.FindControl("grd1"), GridView)Line 247: Dim lbltargetdir As Label = TryCast(TryCast(Me.FindControl("grd1"), GridView).FindControl("lblparentpath"), Label)Line 248:Line 249: Directory.CreateDirectory(lbltargetdir.Text.ToString() & nm.Text)
I'm trying to throw the exception back to Page_Load but the throw statement causes error: ArgumentNullException was unhandled by user code. How can that be fixed? Also, I can't see Label1.Text displayed on the page after the ArgumentNullException occurs because the page is not re-load. If there is no exception, it's fine to not reload the page. How can I see the Label1.Text displayed?

I am using an application from a book for a shopping application , to adapt for my own learning, but there seems to be a problem with the shopping cart page. This is a section I have not changed as there is no need to but there is an error. In the code behind the only thing new is the namespace:
namespace OIClothing { public partial class Cart : System.Web.UI.Page { ShoppingCart cart; // it doesn't like this, giving the debug message the type or namespace 'Shopping Cart" could not be found protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { CheckTimeStamps(); if (Session["cart"] == null) { cart = new ShoppingCart(); Session["cart"] = cart; } else { cart = (ShoppingCart)Session["cart"]; } GridView1.DataSource = cart.GetItems(); if (!IsPostBack) GridView1.DataBind(); btnCheckOut.Enabled = (cart.Count > 0); } protected void GridView1_RowDeleting(object sender, GridViewDeleteEventArgs e) { cart.DeleteItem(e.RowIndex); GridView1.DataBind(); }
but when running the page, this error is given: CS1061: 'ASP.cart_aspx' does not contain a definition for 'GridView1_RowDeleting' and no extension method 'GridView1_RowDeleting' accepting a first argument of type 'ASP.cart_aspx' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)
I am trying to handle the unhandled exceptions in my project.I tried with this following code in my web.config filebut it is not at all redirecting to an error page which i have created instead of that it is throwing an exception in my code itselef. How to print the error description over therein my custom error page.
We have an old asp application that instantiates a .NET com visible class. In this class, we do some serialization to store our object in the session.
When I call the following line of code in my test class, it works fine.
var cereal = new XmlSerializer(couponApplicator.GetType());
However, when it gets called in the website and I am debugging, it throws the following error:
{"Cannot execute a program. The command being executed was "C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\csc.exe" /noconfig /fullpaths @"C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\rwot-yx9.cmdline"."} System.SystemException {System.Runtime.InteropServices.ExternalException}
I thought maybe it was permissions related so I tried giving 'EVERYONE' full control to the windows/microsoft.net folder as well as the windows/temp folder. For reference, I am running this on a Windows XP machine.
In my application I am accessing my DB using simple stored procedure..but My code got exception....while I debug the code I have seen that the code is executed successfully and while the whole try block has been executed then the code call the exception but more ridiculously without any kind of error..here is my code
I have implemented the following functionality that connects to webservice and downloads a favicon from a given site and saves it to a byte[] which I store in our database. I now want to set it up so that it saves the icon to the disk. However I am getting a "Parameter is not valid" when I try and create the image from the byte[].My code is as follows..
The exception occurs on the middle line. This code works perfectly 9 times out of ten, but for some favicons, even thought the icon is a valid image (or at least it appears to be and it shows in the browser when point at it) I get this exception. Does anyone have any ideas? I am pulling my hair out here!

I get the following error which I don't get when I build a simple WCF Data Service in an non MVC project. I added the following to my global.asax:
[Code]....
The type 'MvcWebApp.WcfDataServiceTwitter', provided as the Service attribute value in the ServiceHost directive, or provided in the configuration element system.serviceModel/serviceHostingEnvironment/serviceActivations could not be found.
I am using the exception catching procedure which is the module to track the errors and it write the error description in a log file in the server.I want to display the error details in a common Error page which is having a multi-line textbox from the common function in the module.Is it possible to do that.If possible,How can I do that....
Try
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
Catch ex as exception CreateLogFile(Ex) End Try
The above description is the error catching portion from the code In the module I have written the CreateLogFile function which write the log file. I want to display the Error Page after writing the log file which should contain the error details....
i would very much like to capture certain dal/bll exceptions in my page_error code and turn them into validation errors so they should show up in the validationsummarythis is the code im trying now
[Code]....
the logic is simply to catch only exceptions of type ArgumentException, otherwise it should bubble up (to global.asax handling)what hapens is that after this code block runs, the exception still exists in the system, so it always bubbles up to the global.asaxit there any way to tell asp.net that "its ok, i took care of the exception, just continue with the page"?i tried server.clearerror and context.clearerror but these methods stop the whole page and return a blank empty pagethank you all for your time and patiencep.s. if u have any other ideas 4 improving this code,
I was trying to send a Batch request with O-data framework given below is the code sequence.
updateService = new Sys.Data.OpenDataServiceProxy("http://localhost/myservice.svc"); actionSequence = updateService.createActionSequence(); actionSequence.addUpdateAction(newWr, workRequest.__metadata.uri); try { actionSequence.execute( function () { alert("Success"); }, function (error) { alert(error._message); } ); } catch (e) { }
but this is failing because on response in the end i am geting some extra sections such as undefined ..given below is the response that i am geting in the end u can find the last 3-4 lines and junk data. which is
I have a direstory Created by Name of Webimage... Now i enter a directory name in textbox.. The directory should be created inside Webimage and data should be stored in that folder. But its not working
Could not find a part of the path 'C:UsersArjunDownloadsCompressedWebsiteWebimagesasasaRaspiBoard.png'.
string directoryname = TextBox1.Text.ToString().Trim(); HttpFileCollection hfc = Request.Files; for (int i = 0; i < hfc.Count; i++) { HttpPostedFile hpf = hfc[i]; string filename = Path.GetFileName(hpf.FileName);
if i browse for a text file and displays it in the text box and trying to save it as the name provided above i am getting the error as Directory Not Found Exception.
I am trying to passing Exception info tpa custom error page that I have created, and I'm looking for the best way to do so.I ended up creating a session object on my Global.asax page, and I pass the error data to the session object during the Application_Error event, but it throws it's own exception prior to working.
[Code]....
I have also updated my web.config with my error page that I would like to pass session object data to:
Recently I have upgraded my app from .net 2.0 to 4.0. By running application under .net 4.0 I get one strange behaviour. Whenever application throw any error, instead of displaying it in browser with call stack, the error is shown in the browser's error window as javascript error and the whole web page remain as it is. is it feature of .net 4.0 or I need to do some settings to display error in web page.
