Forms Data Controls :: DataGrid Paging - Error Says Can't Find The Required Method?
Jan 30, 2011
I have datagrid that is connected via an object data source (VS 2008 / VB). I want to use paging. I have created the required attributes in the ASPX code shown below and with a corresponding Select method. Yet I get the error shown below even throug there is a select method that should work. I have set forth below the error, the ASPX code and the first part of the Select Method.
I got DataGrid Paging functionality on, I can see the paging 1,2,3,4,5.... but when i try to click on it to go to that page the datagrid just goes blank (does not render any record anything). My code is below:
How do I attach this to a datagrid header and to the pager?Do the columns need to be Template columns and the header text being hyperlink? If so, how do I set it up so it will, if the user clicks "OK" in the confirmation pop-up, still sort?
I have a usercontrol with a datagrid that is used throughout my web application. The datasource is passed in a public method from the master page to this usercontrol, as the data selection is different on each page where this usercontrol is used. But by doing this, I'm having a problem with paging, as the datasource is lost after postback. I can't do the data selection in the usercontrol itself as the dataset is passed as a parameter.
I am getting a CS0120 error when trying turn a button visible after checking some variables. In plain english, If AmmohelpSession.UserActions contains AmmohelpEnums.UserAction.ArticleEdit then turn the Edit button visible. Here is my comparison:
In the code behind for AmmohelpSession, a public class AmmohelpSession which contains a private variable: private HashSet<UserAction> _userActions; has been stated. In that same file, there is a public function for the UserActions that does a get or set method. In the code behind for AmmohelpEnums, we are setting byte variables to specific actions. Mine would be something like:
i have a dynamic data layer, i.e every user can add custom fields to database tables, so i need dynamic methods in my application.
i know i can use params to specify a variable number of parameters for a method, but the gridview in asp.net looks for a method with the same fields it is updating, i.e if gridview updates fields :name, age, phone, email(suppose email is a custom field of a certain user i.e it doesn't exit for another), and the object data source calls the update method with signature : (name, age, phone, params object custom_attributes) an error is generated that the gridview can not find the method with the signature(name, age, phone, email)
I have method that I call which needs to find all the panels in the page but it fails. I have another method that was created by the VS has the traditional paraeters such the object sender, EventArgs e that the similar code works fine but the (simplyfied) code below. It is clear to me that these parameters contain information that makes one method work while the other not, but I don't know why.
The code breaks on the last line of code: _pnlAssetInfo = (Panel.....
Most likely the later, I think. In my page I have a GridView, DatailsView, and the ODS. None of my commands work. For the Udate command I get a an error "ObjectDataSource 'ObjectDataSource1' could not find a non-generic method 'UpdateVirtual' that has parameters: name, notes, active, original_ident." For the Delete command I get "ObjectDataSource 'ObjectDataSource1' could not find a non-generic method 'DeleteVirtual' that has parameters: ident, original_ident." Yet the Insert command in the DetailsView works fine. Originally I've copied a file that performs virtually identical task, the only difference is a different database and the Select command. I had the Delete command working for for while but that one too broke. Can someone point out what I'm doing wring?
i use objectdatasource control for bind record and also in gridview paging.in my gridview there is a linkbutton(edit) when i click it then it redirect to next page with some key value.but problem is when i try to paging in gridview an error is occure that is Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection. Parameter name: index
so instead of a datasource control, I have a Data Access class that I'm using to populate the ListviewI added a datapager and everything pretty much works until I hit the first or last button. Then, I get the following error: Invalid postback or callback argument. Event validation is enabled using <pages enableEventValidation="true"/>Also, Something was mentioned about ClientScriptManager.RegisterForEventValidation - - couldnt' really find an implementationI tried setting:EnableEventValidation="false", but then, all I got was squirelly interaction with all the numbered links (sometimes having to double click them, etc) - no matter what I tried from there on out, even when I removed the enableEventValidation property altogether.

I want to delete a row in a way that it shows, but displays an error.
I have a rather large gridview that I need to page. the follwoing is my code but when I try to page it gives me a internet lost connection error??? I have not gotten to work in dot.net 4.0 this code is from one of my projects in 1.1 where it works fine but for some reason it is changes for 4.0.
I have a Gridview that I am using in a User Control. The grid loads great and my paging buttons that exist outside of the grid itself work properly. When I click my delete button inside the grid, I am getting an invalid postback message. How should I handle this? My control raises one event by the way.
I can't figure out what I"m doing wrong.. I followed this sample online at http://www.4guysfromrolla.com/articles/091102-1.aspx to include a gridview in an email. But, it keeps throwing this error.. 'GridView' must be placed inside a form tag with runat=server.I've verified that the gridview is in a form, and there are no template fields in the gridview. Heres the gridview on my asp.net page..
