I have a LinkButton in a DataList which displays personID from personOrders table. This field referenced personID from persons table. Now I need to replace the personID here with personName field. How do I go about it?

I have a linkbutton inside datalist1 item template field, i want when user click on linkbutton then its text would be "enable" and if the linkbutton text is "enable" and panel1 will be visible then again on linkbutton click event linkbutton text would be "disable"and panel1 will be hidden.

Very new to ASP.NET (using C# behind) and am having trouble figuring out the following scenario. I have a DataList that is populated (code below) and wanted each cell to be clickable. When the cell is clicked I wanted to know the unique ID for that cell. In my code behind, my OnClick method looks like this:

However I never get there. It seems as if the linkbutton always refers to some javascript callback function and just reloads my form. Am I using the wrong control for what I want to do? From this click I want to look up more information from the Key (will roll up the datalist or set visible to false, then supply the new data on the same page)DataList:

I am using an IComparer to do the sorting of the gridview and binding it to a list of objects. It used to be that the linkbutton in the first template field was being done like this:

The sorting worked just fine when it was like this, but I would prefer not to use a querystring value. The problem with using the linkbutton is that the sorting appears to work (there are only two rows in my test case and they change places), but when the linkbutton is clicked on it is in the same order before the sort took place. After each sort the gridview's datasource is reset to the newly sorted list of objects and the databind method is called.
am binding a gridview to datatable ...and now i want to add a linkbutton/hyperlink as one of the columns in gridview (similar to checkbox field) ...am adding the Lbtn inside a template field ,but i want that column to come as last column ..but its coming as first column,,,how to acheive that??

I need to generate a gridview with dynamic columns, on each cell I need a button that inserts-deletes a relationship in a database. The relationship is of course between what is represented by each column and row. I decided to use a gridview and create templatefields which I add programmatically to the table. I successfully got to that point but when i decided to raise a click event from the buttons or a rowcommand from the gridview I could not do it. I´m looking into doing this with button fields right now but I´m curious on how this can be accomplished?

That datasource is used to populate a Primary Contact combobox in the GridView based on the dsOrganizations datasource. nfortunately, not all the Organizations have Primary Contacts listed yet so the above substitution breaks and doesn't even show the Primary Contacts when they existWhat I need is someway to either leave the Primary Contact row blank in the DataGrid or replace it with "[none selected]"

I am trying to display a starting date from an access database based on the dateId field in a datalist.
On page 1 (using a master page) the customer selects a starting date from a dropdownlist. When the customer hits the submit button, they are transferred to page 2 where the selected starting date is displayed.
The database table is basically:

View 5 RepliesI have a text field that users enter information into a database (SQL Server). They are entering as little as a few sentances to multiple paragraphs. I can successfully display the data on my webpage, but the text field is not formatted very nicely. The output is all smashed together like one big paragraph. Ironically, when I also display the text as a tool tip it outputs as multiple paragraphs like it was entered. How can I format the output in the datalist to create a more readable text field? My datalist field is as follows:

Am building a Form for out intranet that runs on ASP.NET and C#, it is to be a survey from a SQL database. I have the connections setup can pull informations/Questions from the database. I am having a problem with setting up radio buttons within a datalist, ive never done this and i know they require unque names.
It is to be 4 radio buttons per question where only one can be select, i know how to group just not via a datalist with unique names
How can I do paging with datalist if that datalist is populated with inputs coming from a querystring?
