Forms Data Controls :: Directly Reference Control Value In SQL Command?

Jan 29, 2010

I wish to know if it is possible to directly reference a control's value within an SQL Command? I remeber seeing something that caught my attention at one time, but I can't seem to remember where I found it. I am just trying to see if this method could work without having to declare parameters. Here is a sample idea of what I am trying to use:

Apr 9, 2010

i'm trying to issue a select command in my app soi could execute the command and retrive the data into a string variable.the problem is that this command is overloaded with DataSourceSelectArgument and i can't figure out what it is.i'm using sql server express and when issue a n insert command for example sq.Insert(); i have no problems.this the command that's holding me:

SqlDataSource sq = new SqlDataSource();
sq.ConnectionString = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["CustomerDatabaseConnectionString1"].ToString();
sq.SelectCommandType = SqlDataSourceCommandType.Text;
sq.SelectCommand = "SELECT * FROM CustomerTable where customerID = 1";
string result = sq.Select(some overload that's stopping me);

Forms Data Controls :: Dynamic Link Buttons In External Gridview Pager User Control Don't Fire Command

Nov 16, 2010

I'm customizing a NopCommerce store, and am using a gridview to display and sort the products. All that works well. I like how the external pager (user control) works with the gridview, with one exception -- it uses the hyperlink control, so I lost viewstate, which I need to retain for both the search page and to retain the gridview sort options. Based on the page selected (from the pager control), I query the database and rebind the gridview. So, I switched the user control to use LinkButtons instead of Hyperlinks. This is the sample code for one of the buttons:

[Code]....

I set a breakpoint inside the lbCommandClick method, but it never gets hit. Reading other posts tells me that I would have to add the dynamic controls in the OnLoad method, but since this all happens based on other data on the page (say search results), I don't think I can do it onLoad. However, the link buttons do work to cause a postback, and my viewstate is saved correctly. The only problem is that I do not know which button was clicked. I could check Request.Params["__EVENTTARGET"] onLoad, but that is kind of a hack -- I'd much rather be able to set the event handler in the user control and use the CommandArgument property. But, what I have tried so far fails.

Especially one that would allow me to set the EventHandler in the User Control? (e.g. OnlbCommand="PagerLBPageChange" )

Forms Data Controls :: Cannot Reference Text Value In Footer Of Gridview Control

Sep 19, 2010

I am trying to implement adding a new record using the Gridview footer.

I have an example that works finethat I got from [URL]

My situation is a little different .. as I am using master page and the Gridview is in a page derived from the master page.

I have tried:

Dim txtNewName As TextBox = DirectCast(GridView1.FooterRow.FindControl("NewName"), TextBox)
"NewName" is the ID of the textbox in the footer of the Gridview.

When I try referencing ... txtNewName.Text ... it returns a null value.

There must be some trick to referencing this .Text value when using the Gridview that is within a Content Place Holder that results when using a page that was created using a master page.

I have a page with one dropdownlist and one grid. when dropdownlist's selected index is changed i generate a BindingList with some data based on the dropdownlist's selected value. this BindingList is binded to the GridView with one readonly column (eg: Item) and one column for entering data (eg: qty).

i need the Qty column to directly editable (without pressing edit, then goes to edit mode). and update this values back to BindingList's corresponding Item when the qty cell's focus is changed.

Forms Data Controls :: How To Reference Image Location Stored In DB From An Image Control

Apr 20, 2010

I'm not even sure if this is the correct approach for this -

I have a DB that stores information, as well as a location to where images are stored

ie ProductImage = ~/ProductImages/BulkRetail.JPG

I'm using a repeater to list all the products, which works fine for all the labels I use but not for the image location. I'm using something like this, but it doesn't work:

<asp:Image runat="server" ImageAlign="Left" ImageUrl='<%# Eval("ProductImage") %>' />

Forms Data Controls :: GridView1 And Run The SQL Command

Mar 7, 2011

I started a C# web project in Visual Web Developer. I dropped a grid view in with designer and connected to my remote SQL database with the designer dialog based wizard. All is well there. I have in my program also a textbox where a user enters a zip code and clicks a button 'search'. When the user clicks search I want to run the SQL command "select * from flat_list where zipcode='userszipcode'". In other words the userszipcode is dynamic and different every time. It is my understanding I should use a SQLDataSource object but I do not know how.
