i made one window base application in VS2008 (VB.net). i made one simple code where i can insert data.and after inserting i can see that data on grid.when i am inserting data insert query runs perfect.after that for debugging purpose i fire select query and get result in dataset and its show data too.but when go

I am trying to display message box after successfully insertion of comments into database. And before redirecting to another page.
But My application, in every time when button is clicked, displays message box even "textarea" box is empty.

My code is below. I can add messages for row deleted and row updated fine, but the e.exception doesn't exist for row-created. My add-row 'success' message doesn't work properly because it doesn't allow the other messages to then overwrite the label.text for some reason.

i m using Parameters .AddWithValue("@ ", .text) method t insert data from textbox to my data base. i m using SQL data base. primary key is auto incremented. problem is that when i click on submit button to add the data in data base, all the code works fine, and my data get inserted in database table. but then if i click on refresh page, same data get inserted again in the table. and if i click twice or thrice on refresh button data get inserted again and again. i solved this problem by redirecting the page to same page. but then i lost my view state of data. i want to keep the view state and restrict this insertion of data on refreshin. how can i solve this problem by keeping the view state.

But it is not working (I get an image error display/red "x" icon instead of the image). (All other non-binary data is retrieved/displayed fine; no "designer" file is generated/used in this project). I am writing an insert form (like a survey/questionaire) for a web site to collection data that will call for interactively displaying data from one table after the user enters data for the form; I think it would be like a lookup in standadrd db design, however based on the using it on the web I get stuck on the exact coding requirements.I am currently using Visual Web Designer 2008 Express with the smartdbforms.net tool loaded to create insert, edit & update data to a MSSQL2008 db.
Example:
A Customer logs in to the website and chooses the link to enter data to the database. I have a blank insert mode form for them to fill in the answers to 12 questions (using a smartdbforms.net insert form). The first box is for them to enter their ID#. What I would like is for the first and last name of the user to be displayed on the form (next to the entry box)based on a lookup of the ID# they entered and have it display after they enter it. That data is stored in a differnet table in the SQL2008 db.The db is setup with a insert form data table (empty), and various data info tables that are prefilled to use for validation and edit. I am a windows db designer who is new to the ASP.Net web interfacing commands.
in my code i need to display error message and redirect the user to another page...
so i used response.write() first to display error msg and then response.redirect() to redirect the user to another page...
but im unable to see the error msg...it just redirects to other page...is there any other way to display error msgs???
and i even tried the reverse way by putting the statements in reverse order..but no use.....

View 4 RepliesI am populating data into formfields when i select checkbox in a grid view with the following code.I have 20 record set in database,Quotenumber(Main column) starts 3001 ,3002,3003..........3020.I am allowing duplicate entries meant that i have 4 recordset only on 3000 quotenumber like wise i may have 3or more record set on 3010,problem here is when i select first one of 3000(Quotenumber) it is supposed to populate the record set of first one of 3000 but only last one of 3000(quotenumber) is getting populated into form field.Can any one provide solution to this.

I am working on charts with ms chart 3.5 control my question is I have to display legends of pie charts in tabular form. Which will contain the color used for different points and x values and y values. I managed to show the colors and x values but not able to show the y values. I am giving the code also. Example of x and y values are:
