Nov 1, 2010Basically, I have a textbox where a user can enter an ID from a database. To make things easier, the user can popup a GridView using a ModalPopupExtender to display all the tables columns, and they can Select a row, which then closes the modalpopupextender and sets the textbox to the row's ID column.
So far I have this:

Apr 12, 2010I have on a page a gridview that can be filtered with one text box. I set up the gridview to show select and wanted to then connect a details view so that when you selected a row the entire details would show up. When I run it I get this error. Data keys must be specified on GridView 'GridView1' before the selected data keys can be retrieved. Use the DataKeyNames property to specify data keys.

Jun 26, 2010I'm trying to get a record to show up in a details view as part of a Master Details. I was able to get this to work by setting the visibility to true for the Details View in the Page Load event. I now want the details view to show up when the Select button is clicked in the GridView's template field using the onClick event for the button. I don't seem to be assigning the correct properties to get this to work though. what property I should use with this? I know I have to get it from the GridView and assign it to the details but haven't gotten it to work. this is the GridView:

May 7, 2015I have a datalist control which uses repeatcolunm. I want to make Datalist items clickable and get the clicked item value into a textbox outside the datalist. The first column is the select button, 2nd to the 4th are just displaying of data which I have used HTMLdecode to set it to disable the htmlencode so that I could display 2 lines in the gridview. However, after enabling htmldecode. my 2 fields, the select button and the text box columns are not able to be displayed out.

However, the original data is still saved. If they are replacing the current data with new data, that works fine and updates/saves correctly. This problem only happens when the current data needs to be removed.

I simply have a drop-down list on my view that is populated using a list of the model. That works fine. What I want to do is have a DetailsView below the dropdown and change the details displayed when the user changes the selecteditem in the dropdown. Simple, right? I can't quite figure out if I need to create a new action in the controller, and how do I bind the details view, or table, to the selected value? There's gotta be a simple demo of this somewhere, but I haven't been able to find it yet, so I thought I'd post here and see if someone could point me to a good sample?
