View 4 RepliesI have a 1-column gridview (and it must remain 1-column) which contains only text. My requirement is to prefix each row with an image followed by the text. The image may or may not be indented a bit, like an expanded child node in a tree.
I know a gridview renders as a table and I know I could put an image at the beginning of each row in a table (using a repeater, for example). But this is an existing app with a couple gridviews which need to be enhanced and I don't have the time to swap out the gridviews for repeaters.
i'm bindng data to gridview using bound field.one column of gridview is linkbutton.if the text is more than the cell width then the gridview width is increasing automatically.for ex if i have text like "microsoft asp.net forums" then it's displaying the whole text.but i need that text like "microsoft.....".how to display like this in gridview?

I'm trying to add html text to some repeater items during DataBind, but the html text isn't parsed into controls it just displays as text. If I copy the text and just add it to the asp.net page it works fine so I know my syntax is fine. So is there a way to dynamically add more html text during the data-bind phase?

View 3 RepliesI want if the header of a particular column contains a word "S", the header and row turns red. I used following code to make header red and it works fine. How to make it such that the rows also turn red if condition is met ? I cannot hardcode in columns since the Gridview is autogenerate colums as data structure keeps changing.
Protected Sub GridView1_DataBound(ByVal sender
As
Object,
ByVal e
As System.EventArgs)Dim HeaderRow
As GridViewRow = GridView1.HeaderRowFor
Each c
As TableCell
In HeaderRow.CellsIf c.Text.EndsWith("S")
Then
c.BackColor = Drawing.Color.OrangeRed
End
If
Next
End
Sub

I am developing a usercontrol which has a gridview control in it.
Now I want to set the datasoruce property of gridview. Datasoruce will be a generic list (List<Class>).
How to do this ?
I'm doing a gridview with an object datasource:
List<MyObject> TheSource = a linq query
At some point, I have
MyGridview.DataSource = TheSource;
MyGridview.Databind();
and an OnRowDataBound event handler that's tied to the databinding.
In that event handler, how do you make column 2 contain 2 objects from TheSource. For instance, in the TheSource, there is a variable for FirstName and another one for LastName. Column 2 needs to contain both the first and last name in the same cell.
Below is the snapshot of the gridview .i need to insert checkbox in my first coloumn of gridview before Transaction id.on checking the checkbox of a particular the status column of that particular row should changed from "Pending to "Sucess"...

View 6 RepliesI'm working on a project where I have to create a page that displays the "health" of a system. I run a query and display the results in a gridview with a red or green icon next to it. This works fine when the page is first loaded. My problem is that I have a thread that runs a query every 30 minutes and rebinds the gridview but the gridview never refreshes even though the data has changed. How do I get the gridview to display the new results? The databound event never fires a second time even though I can clearly see that I have received new data. I assume I am missing something simple but I just don't know what. What am I doing wrong?
View 5 RepliesSo I have a GridView and several events that can be triggered (such as filtering and inserting a new record) to manipulate the GridView. I want to make sure that I'm not calling DataBind on Page_Load, especially since I might have to call it again when certain events fire. Is there a way I can make it so I only have to call DataBind once on the GridView after Page_Load and anything else has fired? Like some event that will absolutely fire last where I can put my DataBind?
The reason I need to do this is because the DataSource for the GridView is set programmatically from a DataView when the page is loaded, so DataBind needs to run every time. Just, hopefully, not multiple times each time...
I have a gridview positioning issue that may have been answered elsewhere, but I couldn't seem to find a similar post...
I have a webforms app containing a paged gridview (e.g., 200 records - 50 rows and 4 pages).
When the user clicks on a button in a specific row, another web page is launched to process that button click. When the user closes that page to return to the main gridview, the databind event is rerun and the page redisplays the gridview starting at the top. However, I want to have the previous position maintained (like an html bookmark), so that the grid will automatically be scrolled to the the previously clicked gridview page and item.
Setting attributes such as "MaintainScrollPositionOnPostback" do nothing in this case.
