I'm trying to add html text to some repeater items during DataBind, but the html text isn't parsed into controls it just displays as text. If I copy the text and just add it to the asp.net page it works fine so I know my syntax is fine. So is there a way to dynamically add more html text during the data-bind phase?

View 7 RepliesI have a page with a gridview control that shows files that have been uploaded to our site. The name of the uploaded files, who uploaded them, and if they have been downloaded, etc are stored in a table. The gridview is bound to the table through a sqlDataSource control. I have a button column in the gridview that downloads the file associated with a row when the button is clicked. All that works well. I have a check box column that shows checked if a file has been downloaded. When the download button is pressed.
the file downloads and then a short routine is run to update the downloaded field in the uploaded files table to set the downloaded field to true. This is done through a command string. All this works. Here is the question. After the update is run I do a databind on the gridview to update it. The databind is run in the PageLoad event is the page is a postback. This does not cause the current row to show downloaded =true (checked). If I refresh the page in the browser then it displays correctly.
I have a rather large datalist on which I have implemented an editing capability. When I click on my edit link, everything works as expected except that when I bind my data focus returns to to the top of the screen, so my user will have to scroll all the way back down to the item he wants to edit. Is there a way to keep the page centered on the item in question through the databind?

Here I am binding a gridview. I dont know exactly how many rows it will exists. there may be from 1 to n rows possible there are 4 columns.
Now what I want , i.e. after gridciew binds records, suppose there are 4 rows are bounded to gridview, I want to send all rows data through mail, but in my html format there are fixed rows. I want to add rows according to throws which gridview having.

I'm new to ASP.NET. I 'm trying to figure out how to make an HTML/ASP page where a user puts in data, either in text fields or selection boxes, and on clicking a submit button all of there selected data gets dropped either into a Access 97 Db or an excel spread sheet. Are there any examples out there of this? Is there a place that has already created this and I can just look and the code and figure it out for myself?

I have a datalist control
In it, I have a hyperlink that im binding the url, and the text to from a mysql database

Now, the problem is, the field "topicid" returns a number, such as 3. I want to add the following text before it: viewTopic.aspx?id=
So, ideally, i want something like this

But, when I do it that way, I obviously get an error.

I am having menus on the left side of the master page.I am also having the html pages related to the menu link. Based on the menu selection i would like to show the corresponding html pages as a content to the right side of the master page.
The html pages shoud need to be shown just like the other webforms are shown on the right side of the master page pased on the menu selection.

I am adding text fields to a page from the database. I set the .ID to match the record ID from the database. Of course becasue the text field is on the masterpage, when I grab the .ClientID, it is ctl00 contentMain$ctl00. what I don't get is where is my ID? If I set it to say AB how do I find the textbox by AB? I thought it should have AB in the ID somewhere. ID is nothing which I don't get either. I'm looping through the controls in a placeholder like this

Again though what is in the row() is say AB but the id is way off from that.

I'm calling page methods (WebMethods) on my Page using Javascript. The data I'm retrieving is a list of Divs basically.
I don't know how many will be returned, but they need to be inserted into the proper place on the page depending on their content.
I see a couple ways of doing this:
Create a list of HtmlGenericControls and pass them back. Create a list of Strings, where each String is the entire Div code I want to drop onto the page. (This feels wrong for some reason)Create simple container objects that have the necessary data in them. Pass those to the page and use them to create the Divs within javascript.
I have some code that uses xsl and xml. The Xml control is on the design page. The xml control id is xmlApplication The xmlstring is generated and xsl has the format with all the tables and cells etc. Here is a part of thecode of a page which generates the final product which shows the xml in a certain format.

i'm opening a new window and passing on to it variables in a querystring, the values are loaded into a function that is filling my dataset and then filling my Gridview. after i press the button field in my grid to delete an item, the databind doesn't show the updated grid but remains the same. i've noticed that if i navigate back and refresh i see it correctly. in FF btw no problem.
