I am using ASP .NET 2.0 using C#. I am creating a GridView in the code behind and I can't get the date format to work in "MM/DD/YYYY". Here is my code:
[Code]....
I have gridview where there is column charges. If charges value is $0.00, I need to display it as BLANK or NULL that is it should be empty. I tried few DataFormatStrings but no luck.
View 3 RepliesI am in need of some assistance in regards to how to best set the values of properties for a Web User Control which is being included into a cell of a GridView with dynamically created columns. I have tried a few different approaches, but can't seem to get a satisfactory result. Also, to be completely honest, I am not really sure if I am using best practices for what I am trying to accomplish.
First off a little background:I have a GridView for which we will never know the exact number of columns at run time. The columns are predicated by user selection. I am creating the command text for the DataSet on the fly and then looping through the columns of the resulting DataTable in order to use custom TemplateFields. This works ok for just printing out the row values but not so much for when I need to insert the Web User Control into a cell.The Web User Control is in essence a collection of image links which are used as a "Quick Nav" tool. I need to pass the values of 2 fields from each DataRow to the control via properties (for example, CustID and ProductID). I am using custom TemplateField classes inheriting from ITemplate for displaying my fields and extending the DataBinding event like so: [Code]....
This won't work for my User Control as DataBinding is called after the control is loaded into the page and I need the properties to be set before the Page_Load event of the control is fired.Is there a GridView event I should be looking into instead such as RowCreated or RowDataBound? Or should I modify how I loop through the DataTable by doing rows first, then the resulting columns as I've seen done elsewhere?
I have sutmbled across somethig strange. When you ser theYou cannot set the color in a style and apply it to the heading of a grid, it will show in the templated columns, but not in the non-templated columns.
You can set the color for the non-templated columns with the HeaderStyle-ForeColor attribute, but it seems strange for it not to recognize the color in the style and seems redundant to have to specify a style and a color seperately.
Am I doing somethign wrong. Is there some sort of setting I have wrong that is causing this?

I m working with VS-2005 without ajax functionality(With out Update Panel). I have a gridview which has a two colmn inside first column there is image. When user clicks on the image a pop up form with calender control should open when user selects the date from calender that date should get sets up in second column
View 4 RepliesI have a GridView with bound columns, for which I am manually setting the ItemWidth and HeaderWidth to 500px, and nothing happens. Is there some trick to getting this to work?
This is a column a large amount of text in it, and it keeps sizing to the width of the header text, which is simply "note". I don't want to set Wrap to false, becuase then the colummn could be thousands of px wide in cases.
Does anyone knows how to add a radiobutton column into a dynamic gridview? The problem with the asp.net radiobutton is that in a grid view is not mutually exlusive so actually it would have to be a literal type= "radio "control, but how to add it when the gridview is created dynamially?
Also, once I have the radioButton set up correctly...how can I identified whether that row has the radiobutton checked or not?
I need to generate gridview based on table value... let us consider i have in my aspx page one dropdownlist in which i have binded somevalefor example: dropdownlist contain:- Item1 based on Item1 i have three table first table conists A,B,C,D value. Second Table consist 1,2,3,4,5 Third Table consist (0.5,0.6,0.7) for 1, (0.7,1.0) for 2, (0.6) for 3, (0.8) for 4, and another(0.8) for 5 based on this three table i need to show girdview like this which is below If its Item2 dropdownlist then row and column of girdview will be any number based on first,second,third table value for Item2like this if Item3 dropdownlist then row and column of girdview will be any number based on first,second,third table value for Item3.help me to achieve dynamic rows and column based on database value... in asp.net C#....
View 14 RepliesI have a stored procedure (For Eg: sp_GetAvlData) that accepts a number of parameters, 3 of which are TimeFrom, TimeTo (as varchar) and TimeInterval (as int), formulates a Dynamic query and executes itself. So for instance, if I call the proc as follows:
[code]....
dtAvl is the datatable containing the results of my stored procedure.
The next step for me is to make each of the cells (except the cells in the first column) as a Hyperlink so that when clicked upon a cell, it populates 2 textboxes with the selected Timeslot and Name or ID (ID field is not displayed in Gridview). The textboxes are located on the same page but outside of the Gridview control.
The Challenge that I'm facing out here are:
1) As you can see, the field names being generated are not fixed and I have no control over them.
2) Because the field names are not fixed I'm not sure I can implement this using the Templatefields or BoundFields of Gridview.
Is there any way to achieve the Hyperlinking of these cells within the Gridview?
i have a gridview which is populated from a stores proc using pivot tables. The column are created dynamically apart from a total column which is created as a template field. the gridview looks like below:
CPW
EE
Foh
H3G
IND
O2
ORG
P4U
T-M
TSC
VIR
VOD
Total
Stores Visited
70
0
0
12
0
16
18
7
11
1
2
8
145
i need to add a hyperlink to each gridview cell and when that cell is clicked pass the header text through the querystring to another page. I can access the cells value ok and pass that through but i cannot seem to access the cells column header text. when i response.write out a count of the gridview.columns it brings back 2 which is the template fields but not the dynamic fields i have tried this on the rowdatbound, rowcreated, page_load and page_unload. the count should be 12 its like it cannot find the dynamic columns at all. ?
here is my code for populating the gridview
[Code]....
and here is my gridview:
[Code]....
i am also moving the total column in this code
[Code]....
and calculating my total in this code and adding my link to the total colum (which works fine)
[Code]....
now i just need to somehow add a link to the other cells and somehow get the value of the header text for that cell clicked.
I use gridview and use coluns on it below is code:
<asp:GridView runat="server" ID="gvOrders" EmptyDataText="No orderPlaced !" ShowFooter="true" CssClass="gridorder"
AutoGenerateColumns="false" DataKeyNames="Id">
<Columns>
<asp:BoundField DataField="Name" HeaderText="Film Name" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="Quality" HeaderText="Quality" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="Price" HeaderText="Price" DataFormatString="{0:C}" />
</Columns>
</asp:GridView>
and use DataFormatString="{0:C}" for showing price it will show like:
$100,000.00 I want it show price like 100,000,000 I mean with out $ and with thousand seprator..
whn i click edit button on grid before sorting on any column it is working properly...but once i click on any column for sorting n thn click on edit then the rows get sorted again and edit is set on some other row... plz help me...herez my code..
protected void GridView1_RowEditing(object sender, GridViewEditEventArgs e)
gv_photo.EditIndex = e.NewEditIndex;

I am adding columns dynamically to gridview as [URL] ....
I am adding checkbox and trying to add handler but it is not getting fire
AddHandler lnkView.Click, AddressOf ViewDetails
AddHandler Chk.CheckedChanged, AddressOf ViewDetails
I have made Gridview and it has 5 columns.
Col1 Col 2 Col3 Col4 Col5
I try to make like below:
Col1 Col2
col2 col3 col4 col5
First column is as it is. But next 4 columns I try to make merge from Gridview Row Databound Event. It's working.
I have a link button in column1 and when I click on it, Row Command is fire and at that time the merge is gone. And Last row comes in footer row.
I'm working on setting up a Gridview that dynamically creates new "columns" after a set amount of rows. To do this, I bind a datasource to the Gridview and then add new cells and shift the other items into those cells. I seem to be having an error with the link buttons that I move around. All of the items get put in there correct location, but for some reason, when I click a link button that has been added to a new cell, the sender's text is the LinkButton in the original cell's text. Does anyone know why this would be happening? Is the gridview not meant to be manipulated after it has been data bound? This is the code that I use to update the gridview.

I have a gridview which I use to add items through the footer and the EmptyDataTemplate. There is a date field. I want to set the default of it to the current system date.
gridview template code is as follows...
[Code]....
Empty data template code is as follows...
[Code]....
I have done this using templates but now I was wondering if its possible to use DataFormatString property of gridview's asp:boundfield to capitalize the first letter of the string
<aspBoundField HeaderText="Brand" DataField="brand" DataFormatString = "(?????)"/>
I want to display gridview column heading when mouse over to the particular column in the gridview.I am working in VisualStudio 2005 with MS.Net2.0 framework.I don't want to use ajax.
View 4 RepliesIf there's a better way to accomplish what I'm attempting I haven't found it yet. That being said, I have create a gridview like the one here,[URL]And with some minor tweaking it working great for all my fields, checkboxes, etc. The issue is my last column is another gridview, and I'd like it to function the same. that is, a dynamic gridview inside of a dynamic gridview. I get that I have to create it initially with null values or it won't show up. I guess what I'm having trouble figuring out is instead of go will null data in the parent gridviews column, do I place my blank child gridview. Do I create and bind the child gridview first, or second. Generally just not sure. Also, as far as storing the data from the child gridview goes, will each one need it's own datatable?

Background: I open a page that has a detailsview control using Accessdatasource. It is automatically opened with the row I want to update as I get there by passing the key as a URL parm. The update works for all fields except 2 template fields I added. I added a field for update date and updated by which I want the code to populate in the code behind so the user does not enter it. I have the same login on another page using an insert and it works fine. I cannot figure out what is wrong on the update and I tried everything. The code behind is in the OnItemUPdating event. code behind:
protected void set_update_date(Object sender, EventArgs e)
{
TextBox tbdate = (TextBox)DetailsView1.FindControl("TextBox_update");

I'm using:
[Code]....
to format the currency values and on my local machine everything works correctly displaying the currency in £ (pounds).
I moved my code onto the server that it will be run from and it's displaying in $ (dollars).
Our technical team that look after the server (Development aren't allowed access to the admin side of things) say that the server is set up for UK.
Where should they be looking to be able to set the server to display the data correctly?

I have a Gridview w/ the following fields:
<asp:BoundField
DataField="StartDate"
HeaderText="Start Date:"
SortExpression="StartDate"
DataFormatString="{0:d}"
/>
<asp:BoundField
DataField="StartTime"
HeaderText="Start Time:"
SortExpression="StartTime"
DataFormatString="{0:t}"
/>
I am trying to format the StartTime like this - 7:00 PM. The StartTime field is a time only data type, not datetime; and StartDate is date only, not date time. {0:t} actually works fine on StartDate converting the data stored as 6/28/2010, of course it displays as 12:00 AM when I tried since there's no time data stored...
but the StartTime field still renders as 19:00:00 using the above example. How can I fix this without reverting to full datetime data type?
I'm trying to set the ImageUrl property after I've uploaded an image so that I can display the newly uploaded image, but for some reason it's not working.
If I navigate from the record I've just updated and then return back to that same record, the image then displays. It just doesn't display right after I've updated it. Basically what I'm doing is this:
Sub FormView1_OnItemUpdated(Sender As Object, e As FormViewUpdatedEventArgs)
Dim MyImage As Image
MyImage = FormView1.FindControl("Image1")
MyImage.ImageUrl = "image1.jpg"[code]....
I've left out the path intentionally because I'm pretty certain that the path I'm giving is correct... again, if I navigate away from the record and then return to it, the image displays. In addition, when I view the "Page Source" to view the resulting html, the src property of the image tag is blank . So, it's not a path issue... the issue is that its not setting the src at all which is why the image is not displaying.
