Forms Data Controls :: How To Launch A New Screen For The User To Do Some Edits
May 10, 2010
User clicks the Edit Link Button on my grid and I want to launch a new screen for the user to do some edits...I need to be able to pull the ID but I cannot figure out what I need to pass to the HandleSelect function and then how to read my column3 to get selectButton.Attributes.Add("onClick", "return HandleSelect(????);")
SQL Server BIDS client 2005, when launched, displays a "Splash" screen that should allow selection of 1 of 3 apps. I am trying to get to Reporting Services but the launch skips right by and goes into Analysis Services.
I have a page with a gridview. It has a select command and an edit command which are both SPs. I added a standard "Edit, Update, Cancel" CommandField to the gridview so that I can edit. The edit and update are working fine. However, I have found that if the underlying data changes after I have loaded the page and before I hit "Edit", and this change causes the row I'm going to edit to be in a different row than before, the gridview will open the wrong row for editing.
For example, say the gridview is sorted by the a field called ID, and currently there are rows in the DB with ID of 2,4,6 and 8. I load the page and see those 4 records. While I'm looking, someone adds a record with ID of 1. When I click Edit on the row with ID = 4, I will actually end up editing the record with ID 2. Basically, i'm clicking on Edit in the second row, and I end up editing the record in the 2nd row, but the 2nd row is now a different record than before.
It seems like there HAS to be a way to fix this, otherwise editing in the gridview seems exceptionally dangerous. Is there any easy way to handle this, to make sure the user is editing the row they think they are?
Is there a way to restrict being able to edit a gridview column to some users but not to others ? Say setting the column to read only and then resetting it when the row is in edit mode.
i have page where i am calling user control, on user control i want to give button when i click button same user control should appear on popup screen but not able to do , here code
I'm using Visual Web Developer 2010 against SQL Server 2008 R2.
I have a number of GridViews and FormViews working now, with edit functionality. However I have one field in my main database table that is of type 'Text'. With that one field, the edits won't take. I click Edit, change the text in the GridView, and click Update, but it just reverts back to the unchanged text.
It seems like I've tried everything. Is there a way to make that work without having to code it the hard way with a Textarea control?
I'm new to asp and I have a problem hereI have a database with 2 fields: url and url_description. In the database I have something like this: url: "www.asp.net" and url_description:"This is the first site". I have a gridview displaying the 2 fields, what I need is to be able to click on the url_description and the page to navigate to the coresponding url (or to open a new page).I've been strugling with the gridview properties and I can't figure out what to do.
I have a gridview bound to a sqldatasource with editing enabled. If I click Edit, then either Cancel or Update, the update or cancel occurs and the Edit button reappears. However, I cannot then click the browser's back button without having the Update and Cancel buttons reappear. A second click of the back button takes me to a state where the Edit button shows again, *then* another back button click will take me to the referring page (the one before the one with the gridview on it.) IOW, it looks like the postbacks are cached. How can I prevent this and have the back button go straight to the referring page?
It is an online game, I need to develop a 'Launch' button on the game site to launch the client side game. I have seen this in several online games like this one. How can this be done?
I have a create user wizard on my page and in the event handler (Created User) I get extra information from the user via textboxes within the aspx etc.
I then do a response.redirect to another page.
What I want to happen is this
When the CreatedUser Event is fired, I want a Modal Popup to show up with a message Processing your registration.
once the registration code is processed it will close and the users get redirected.
On my ASPX I have the Modal PopUp and a Panel.
In the code behind in the handler I put ModalPop.show()
Im using Visual Studio 2010. I'm new to asp.net. I'm trying to do a simple user login page but whenever I try to launch the Web Administration tool, I keep getting some exception error. The below images is the error I encountered.
I have upgraded web application from VS.2008 to vs 2010. I was using previously ReportViewer 2008 control in a page and replaced with 2010 ReportViewer Control.
I have installed the ReportViewer Redistributable also in my local pc as well as in the server. Also as per the new requirement I have placed the Scriptmanager in the web page where the reportviewer control located.
While running the page, the reportviewer run the report and is not showing the data on the screen. It shows the blank screen. But If I export the data to execl or world it is showing the data. Also the page numbers in the reportviewer showing the total pages available in the navigation bar. I am sure the report is running and bringing the data to the screen but not showing it.
I have a custom CRM package and I need to allow specific users have different layouts on selected screens. I do not want to support multiple software packages so I am thinking that I have some type of interface that allows a user to select what fields they want to input on a given screen. However, what is the easiest way to make this happen? I am thinking that I have some type of XML file that is read that a user can define.
I want to create a page on which the website's sponsors are displayed. The information about the sponsors is coming from the database via an ObjectDataSource, and I'm retrieving an Image (company logo), the name of the company, and a url to the company's website. Each Image (logo) is of the same height, but of varying width. I want each Item to be formatted so that the Image is on top, and underneath is a centered hyperlink with the name of the company.
This all seems pretty straightforward ... now for my problem: I want to display as many of these on the page as possible. Essentially, start off horizontally and fit as many as possible on each row. A DataList or Repeater with RepeatDirection=Horizontal doesn't quite do what I want as I don't want to have a fixed number of columns.
Is there an easy way to achieve this, or do I have to manually add up the width of each item on an ItemDataBound event, and then somehow move to the next row when the maximum width is reached? In addition I have to deal with the fact that the width of my Item is the maximum of the Image width and the text underneath.
I have a look-up grid with two columns, Last name and AddressI need that look-up grid to take as little screen real estate as possible, but I have to include the "Select" function next to every row.Any way I could fire the Select function by clicking on the ROW verses the "Select" function
How to make the selected record (area) for editing to be in the center of the screen?
I have a GridView with custom Edit functionality. I have panel, table and some controls for updating in the EditItemTemplate area. When the user selects to edit a record, I want the edited record area to be aligned in the center of the screen. What is happening now is, with the gridview having many records; the user has to navigate to find where the edit box displayed!
I have a form that collects some dates. The users can go to this form any time, view the data, and edit the data.
The user should only be able to enter today or future dates only. We don't want users to go in here and be able to past date these dates.
So I created a compare validator which compares the text box against today's date. This works great. The user saves the form and life goes on.
But then, lets say they come back 1 week later and want to change a date. Now all the old dates will fire this validator and they can't save anything unless they change all the dates to today or newer. This is a problem.
So what I thought was when I load the form with the data from the database, I would just disable the validator if there is a date, and if it's null enable the validator. But this won't work because then they can back-date all of those dates with the validator disabled.
So for the dates that are not null, it shouldn't fire the validator unless they change the date.
When I load the form, I'm going to load all these dates into Viewstate. I'm going to create a custom validator and check the value they enter against the previous date that is in Viewstate. If it matches that date then it is valid, if it doesn't match that date then I will run it through the validator to check for past-date.
I have an .aspx page (with code behind) pulling in data from an Access database and has a gridview with a select that shows product details in a detailview and shows a picture of the product... it is all working correctly, but I need to develop another page for editing a selected product and have no idea where to start... I'd prefer a popup screen launched from en EDIT button with textboxes and an UPDATE button... does anyone have any clues how to do this? Here's my .aspx with the code-behind under it:
Admittedly, I haven't done a lot of development for iPhone or smartphones, in general. This is a conventionally sized asp.net 3.5 website with a subfolder that contains simplified webforms that are supposed to be optimized for smartphone screens, specifically the iPhone. The page giving me the problem contains an AJAX accordion control with three panes. The first pane has a DetailsView with the default mode set to Insert. The second pane has a three column gridview. The last pane has another detailsview that shows the detail of whichever record is selected in the gridview. Pane 1, the gridview, is the default view when the page loads. Everything works fine on the page but when it renders on the iPhone 4, the accordion and the controls are very small, occupying about 1/4 of the screen. Double-tapping the gridview causes the screen to zoom or you can use two fingers to stretch it to the size you want. I would like to find a way to make the page load with the controls already zoomed in to full screen. I have triedstyle="width: 400px;" in the <body> element, the <form> element, and in the <div> element. None of them made a difference.
In my webform I have a datalist that displays images that are approximately 200px each. The datalist is set to RepeatColumns = 5, RepeatDirection = Horizontal (display 5 images per row). With the padding and spacing, each datalist row takes up about 1200px in width.
The problem is that if a user with a 1024x768 or 800x600 resolution visits the page, he'll see the horizontal scrollbars. It's not really a problem, but, well...
Is there any way I can call a javascript function in page_load that will get the screen dimensions, and send that javascript result to my serverside so that I can change Datalist.RepeatColumns?
My javascript function would probably use screen.width and screen.height, but how do I send those values to my codebehind?
