I'm using an ASP.net 3.5 FormView. I wanted to add an unbound text box with the ID="tbxEditFormMode" and set it to "EDIT" when a user selects an existing record from a dropdown list control. Here is my code
Protected Sub ddlSelectClient_SelectedIndexChanged(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles ddlSelectClient.SelectedIndexChanged

When I run it I get the following error message.
Object reference not set to an instance of an object
In the tbxFormMode.text = "Update" Line

I have a FormView which is used to insert a record into a database. Outside of this formview i have a drop down list, I want to grab the value from that drop down list and set one of the text fields within the formview to it's currently selected value. I've tried the following code, but the dynamic categorytextbox line is what seems to not be working.

I want to preset the value of a textbox within a databound formview. Tried it within codebehind on onModeChanging and onItemInserting. Method onModeChanging was fired but the textbox.text shows not the expected text. Method onItemInserting was not fired at all.
Thought to use inlinecode like

I have a text box inside a update panel. With the onTextChanged events, I have a post back set in "True" to show the customer Name and email when I type in the customer ID in the text box. I want to have it show when we leave or Tab out of the text box. Now is working , but only afte I click the submit button. Does anyone know how to code the following in order to make it work right away when we Tab out of the text box.

I have a FormView that is loaded with a records from my DB. Some of the fields may be blank or null. I am trying to check the value of some of the text boxes to verify that the user has updated the fields prior to allowing a DB update from the Edit Template.
I can not seem to get the correct syntax on the if statment to check the value of the text box....

My asp page having 'ONLY ONE' record from database containing 150 text box fields.
User can modify any field but at the time of saving, some set of the fields should be updated into database and other set of fields into an xml file for later verification. This selection condition is dynamic for each text fields.
Since the page contains only one record from database table, the Update statement of stored procedure contains all the 150 records.
My plan is to keep old values in text boxes before the user making any change, and at the time of saving, set old value or new value to string variables and pass these variable to procedure.
I couldn't find any way to sort this out. I tried using hidden variables to store values, but at the time of saving, i'm unable to set old or new values into string variable. This was one way of thought, but can do any possible way to achive this.
Am using C#, asp.net, SQL server.

Using C# and SQL as the database.I have a page with a gridview and some text boxes and drop down list boxes. A user selects a record from the grid view I query the database and fill the text boxes and drop down list boxes.
Some fields get updated periodincally thus there is no data in those fields in the database until some time.
A strange thing happens.When filling data some text boxes gets a one tab spacing .

I have a list box with data coming from the database. Above the list box I have a text box. If the user enters some text in the text box,then the data in the list box should be filtered as per the content entered in the textbox. In my page, i have about 7-8 such similar textboxes and listboxes. So I want to implement a common function which can be used for all the text boxes in the page. I tried to achieve this in textchanged event and javascript but sometimes not working. Is there any other simple way except javascript? Is it efficient to use java script in this scenario? Need your valuable inputs.

Currently we are saving files (PDF, DOC) into the database as BLOB fields. I would like to be able to retrieve the raw text of the file to be able to manipulate it for hit-highlighting and other functions.Does anyone know of a simple way to either parse out the files and save the raw text on save, either via SQL or .net code. I have found that Adobe has a filtdump utility that will convert the PDF to text. Filtdump seems to be a command line tool, and i don't see a way to use a file stream. And what would the extractor be for Office documents and other file types?-or-Is there a way to pull out the raw text from the SQL Full text index, without using 3rd party filters?Note i am trying to build a .net & MSSql solution without having to use a third party tool such as Lucene

I have a page with a text box, a button and a GridView. Enter an account number in the text box, press the check button and the result will show in the GridView.
Now user wants that if the text box is clear, the GridView disappear.
I can only find TextBox1_OnTextChanged. But I want to have that while the user is clearing the text, if the length of text becomes zero, the GridView is clear out. So I am looking for OnTextChanging(). Well of course this function does not exist. How to achieve the same purpose?

I have an input type, so a text box which has a browse button next to it. When it is clicked, the file that is selected has it's full path placed into the text box.

Where is the event! Now that I have the path to the file in the textbox of the input type, I want to load each line of this file into a textbox that is able to handle multiline text. I don't want the file to be uploaded to the website. I just want to contents of the file read and placed in a textbox all with one click on the browse button.

I have placed a list box and a text box with Selected Index Changed and Text Changed event repectively in an aspx page. Now If I write somthing in text box and then with out clicking elsewhere select a value in list box, then first Text Changed event of text box is called then selected Index Change event of list box is called. After that again Text Change event of text box is called. Can any body give some insight why this happening? Below is the .aspx code:

I am trying to figure out how to get the text value from each textbox on a page that has a dynamically created number of text boxes. I need to store that value in a database row. I guess what i need is to be able to store the text box values in a collection or arrary of some sort and then be able to use textbox(i).value or something of that nature. I have an asp page with a textboxes, labels and other controls. I cannot get the .text to change in any of these controls. I click on button which I execute code that I expect to update the text but it doesn't work. Something like Textbox1.text = "Hello" Are there page level properties/settings I should look at? I am perplexed an looking for a place to start. I will provide more information as needed. I just don't know where to start.
