Sep 28, 2010I have created a gridview based on an SQL Datasource. The grid view contains several columns(fields) one of which is called "Amount". In the footer of the gridview their is a field that contains the sum of all of the values contained in the "Amount" field.By problem is that in instead of getting the value of the Amount displayed in the "Amount" field of each row, I am getting a '0' (Example: 0 25.78 when I should just be getting 25.78. There is a space between the '0' and the '25.78'.

Feb 23, 2011I have an typical request from my client, where in he wants kind of drill down look in gridview.
When an (+) is clicked it should display child records with links and the (+) should change to (-) and otherway round.
For example:
1. roles are displayed in gridview.
1. Admin
2. Manager
and so on.
2. On click of (+) for admin, it should create extra Row in Gridview to view its child record.
1. Admin
1. Shailesh 18-06-1980 Link
2. Ashok 01-10-1979 Link
2. Manager
5. Kishor 05-08-1985 Link
8. Parag 15-07-1983 Link
and so on This should be trigerred on click of (+), somewhere in row or may be after I click on role name.

Jan 12, 2010I need to disable the edit command link if a record has links to other records within the tables.
I have a table that has worktype and that is captured when certain records are entered. So if a record exists with that value, then i want to disable the "Edit" link for that record within my gridview.
I want to provide them access to add more worktypes, but if they want to edit a worktype, i need to make sure its not used anywhere in the other tables, before they can edit it. For now atleast, because i will need to allow full editing and deletion functions for this table. how to do this or maybe suggestions on other things i can do to give them full functionality?

Aug 17, 2010I have a grid view (using sqldatasource & C#) which returns no rows. By design asp.net does not show header/footer. I looked at couple of sites and suggestions and found it to be too complex. Nothing was simple. The one I found was to create a empty datatable, insert rows and bind it to the gridview. But that code does notwork for me because I am using sqldatasource and using datatable gives error.I decided to just add the following to empty item template.

THe link shows up in the bottom but the event gridview_RowCommand is not fired as the grid view is not created or it does not have rows
How do I call a function on click the add new link and put all my code in there to insert possibly using a modal popup. I cannot use onclientclick because it is javascript.

Jun 16, 2010I have a list of links displayed in a gridview that, when clicked, open in a new window. I used OnClientClick = "form1.target = '_blank';" to achieve this. I also need to let the users delete links. Problem is, when I click the delete button it calls the OnClientClick event even though it isn't in the delete tag. This only happens if I click delete after I have clicked on a link. The result is that the link I am trying to delete opens up in a new window and is not deleted.

I have a gridview that needs to be generated from code behind. There is a column with a name field and the remaining columns give the different user-ids linked to that id. Like this:
-- NAME, ID1, ID2, ID3......
The Name column will be populated from a table that has the Name as well as number of ID's associated with that name. eg [Name1][3]
I need to display linkbuttons that link to user-id related documents in columns 2 to n for each name.How do I dynamically add linkbutton columns from code behind?
