Dec 11, 2010I have a ListView displaying data from Table A using a SqlDataSource.
I want to take the displayed data (and these are just the standard columns representing fields in Table A) and store them in Table B using a Stored Procedure
(The scenario is much more complex but I've left out anything not relating to this exact problem).
I've added a Button to the ListViews ItemTemplate and I'm using OnItemCommand to create a Sub for its "Click" in the Code Behind.
This is a simplified chunk of the SQL I'm using to insert the ListView's fields into Table B using the Stored Procedure "InsertCart":

Where I've highlighted "Description" in the last line. In a GridView, this would be enough. Description is a Column name in Table A and B and iy's an Item in the ListView. But I'm realising that, with ListView's, the data binding is not as "automatic" as a GridView. Just using the columnname is not enough.
What do I use instead of the word Description to reference this column in the Parameter?

Jan 15, 2010I am not sure if I'm in the right forum but I try anyway.I am making a webproject where I have a database with tables Product, ProductDetails.In my pageLoad event I am retrieving the information from these tabels in two lists: productList and productDetailsList.
Now what I would like to do is to databind these lists in code behind to my ListView. I know how to do this if I only have one list but in my case i have two and in my listView i have fields whose information is in productList list and others in the productDetails list.
Is there a way to achieve this?

Jul 22, 2010I need to apply a function, called get_local_name() to translate, in the language chosen by the user, the headers of a table in Listview. The function searches a table with all the translations and gets the one corresponding to the original name of the header. I had no problems with other buttons or labels. There I have a label, a property Text, so it's easy, for me, remember I'm a total noob, to recall the element I want to translate in Vb. For instance:

Feb 10, 2011i'm currently learning .Net and i can get data out of a database and display in a listview. But how can i access data items in the code behind and format, change, concatenate...do whatever i want to them then display in the list view? Is it even possible?

Maybe an example of what i'm trying to do would be to concatenate a address from the dataset and in a variable sAddress and then attach sAddress to a label in the list view, or add to colums of the dataset together and then show in a label in the listview.

I've tried Datalist but I am having trouble with the paging portion. I've tried gridview and listview and got the paging to work but for some reason, when I click on Pg 2, it refreshes the search or something and what was shown on Pg 1 would appear again on Pg 2.

Sep 13, 2010I have a master-detail page consisting of a databound GridView and ListView. It's pretty standard - when you select a row in the GridView is shows up the ListView. The problem I'm running into is when I want to link to that page with a specific row pre-selected in both views. It seems like it should be easy enough, but I just can't figure it out. Currently, the ListView is connected to the GridView with a ControlParameter in the SelectCommand.

Aug 31, 2010I have a listview and inside the listview I have a gridview. I'm binding data to the listview, then on the listview itemdatabound I'm binding the gridview. I want to make the gridview editable so I have an edit template and an edit command button. I have the event rowediting and inside there I set the edit index. Now normally I rebind the control and everything works. But if I rebind this gridview, nothing happens.
I can trace through the rowediting and everything is working. It's setting the edit index, it goes through the databind and gets the right data and binds it to the control. What is happening? Why isn't my rebound edit mode gridview showing up?

Forms Data Controls :: GridView / ListView Not Working Inside A Master Page?
Jul 18, 2010I've been working with ListView for a long time, but I haven't been using it's built-in events so far. Now I was trying and was stuck. Until I moved both LinqDataSource and ListView to another page, without a master page.
Then it worked. Same happened with GridView as well.
I do not use Update Panel. Just master page. And if I use manual methods for edit, insert, delete then it doesn't fire OnItemCommand.
Is there a known uncompatibility with databound controls and master pages? Because I couldn't find anything about it on Google.

Mar 13, 2011I have anested ListView control. I also implemented a jQuery to automatically expand the TextBox control inside of the nested ListView Insert Template. The problem is, when the Textbox expand, the outer ListView control is not; therefore, the Textbox control expands underneath the buttons of the outer listView control. How do I expand the outer ListView control as the nested ListView textbox is automatically expand? One great example is in Facebook where if I add a response comment, it'll automatically push any comments below mine down. If nested Listview control is not the best way to do this, what are my options?
